New Year Reception

- Christians VII's Palace, Christian VIII's Palace & Christiansborg

Januar 05, 2026

King Frederik and Queen Mary hosted three New Year Reception at Christians VII's Palace, Christian VIII's Palace and Christiansborg.

The first one was in honor of the Justices of the Supreme Court and the officer corps of the Royal Life Guard and Guard Hussar Regiment. Then followed a reception at Christian VIII's Palace for mayors and regional council chairmen.

Later that day, the royal couple hosted the third New Year Reception for the diplomatic corps' heads of mission, heads of reception from the Faroe Islands and Greenland, and side-accredited ambassadors. All spouses were also invited to the reception at Christiansborg.

The first thing that came to me when I saw Mary in that new blue velvet suit was Queen Margrethe. She loved to wear a specific blue set when she used to host the New Year receptions. It also reminded me of her stunning midnight-blue gown worn in 2006 for the New Year's Eve Banquet. Her beautiful new suit is tailored by talented Jesper Høvring. The color looks good on her!

Mary embraced the smashing velvet with white pearl earrings belonging to the Danish Pearl Poiré Parure. The pearl ring matched perfectly. It is mastered by Dulong Fine Jewelry. I love that she chose a clutch is the same color as the rest of her outfit but I'm not sure the Quidam leather clutch was the right one. What do you think? A bit too plain for the occasion.

I am not able to identify her shoes from the photos I have seen. Looks like a simple pair of round-toed suede pumps worn with thick black tights.

The Danish Free Search Foundation's research conference

November 07, 2025

Queen Mary attended the annual Danish Free Research Foundation's research conference as patron of the foundation. The conference gathered leading researchers and representative from universities, foundation's and other stakeholders.

Historian, writer and professor at University of Aalborg, Johan Lund Heisen was resented the award "Original Idea of the Year". The award was handed over by the Queen herself.

I have truly missed an outfit like this. Just look at it! The silhouette is smashing. Love how she matched the stunning printed Jesper Høvring blouse with a simple a-line skirt. I have no ID on the skirt but I am pretty sure it is a new addition to wardrobe. Beautiful how the Prada belt defined her waistline.

I am still trouble about the Sophie Bille Brahe earrings. The diamond/gold combination is outstanding and works very time but the design bothers me. Apparently Mary disagrees. But they do look good with this outfit.

Mary is an honest master of finding same colors in nuance. The same goes with how she matched her new skirt and belt with the dark blue Quidam clutch. Wearing nude or beige pumps/shoes is a clever trick. Makes your legs look longer. She has used this "trick" for many years. I was just reminded how well it works.

Day 1. Official State visit to Latvia

October 28, 2025

Official welcoming ceremony

King Frederik and Queen Mary have arrived in Riga Latvia. The state visit marks the beginning of the Royal Couple's travels to the three Baltic countries and focuses on the close cooperation between Denmark and Latvia in culture, security and common European values. The visit will last from October 28th to 29th.

Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs welcomed the couple to Riga Castle where the official welcoming ceremony took place. The King and Queen also had the opportunity to meet with the Danish and Latvian delegations.

The couple also visited with Moment of Liberty, the Latvian Occupation Museum and participated a guided tour in Riga's Art Nouveau district.

Mary looked absolutely stunning in her navy blue coat. It was created by talented Danish designer Søren Le Schmidt. Mary first wore the coat at the 80th anniversary of Denmark's liberation in May. Later that month she wore it celebrating her husband's birthday. In Latvia she had chosen to add a Max Mara belt which I kinda like but it makes her look a bit too thin.

The sunning headpiece matched the coat beautifully. Milliner Katrin Cecilia Jacobsen created this incredible piece of headwear. Amazing work.

She accessorized the outfit with exclusive pearl earrings and a matching brooch. Both pieces are part of the Danish Pearl Poiré Parure. The set also comes with another brooch, a necklace and a tiara. The custom-made pearl ring made by Dulong Fine Jewelry was a great addition to the old inherited jewellery.

Her fine leather clutch is a reuse from Quidam. When they arrived in Riga Mary wore polished Prada pumps. Later, she changed to a pair of black Gianvito Rossi boots and a black woolen coat. The paisley scarf is also a reuse.

Evening banquet

President Edgars Rinkēvičs hosted an evening banquet at Riga Castle with King Frederik and Queen Mary as guests of honor. The King gave a speech prior to the dinner being service.

The King was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the Three Stars - Latvia's highest military order. The Queen received the Grand Cross of the Order of the Three Stars. The President was awarded the Order of the Elephant - Denmark's finest order.

Mary first wore the incredible red gown at the New Year's Eve Banquet in January 2018. It is tailored by Søren Le Schmidt. I love when she is wearing bright colors. Looks great with her brown hair and fair skin. Somehow I think she gown looks better with a full up-do. Can't really tell why but I think it suits the gown better. What are your thoughts?

She styled the smashing silk gown with a tiara purchased at an Bruun Rasmussen auction back in 2015. It can be worn both as a tiara and a necklace. The earrings have never been identified but she has worn them numerous times as a set to the tiara.

Her golden bracelet once belonged to Queen Louise. It was her engagement bracelet. I am so sure Mary's huge diamond ring is the same one Queen Margrethe wore on her first official portrait as Queen of Denmark in 1972.

Looks like Mary's pumps are the same colors as her gown. Either in suede or silk. The bordeaux clutch is a reuse from Sergio Rossi.

Officiel disembark from Dannebrog

September 10, 2025

King Frederik and Queen Mary have spend much time on sea during the summer visiting both Frederikshavn, Thisted, Læsø and Samsø. The couple have enjoyed many wonderful hours traveling with the royal yacht on their summer tour.

Today it was time to officially disembark and Dannebrog docked in Nordre Toldbold in Copenhagen around noon. The royal couple were warmly greeted at the dock by Danes who gathered to get a glimpse of the King and Queen.

Usually I'm not a huge fan of darker colors matched with soft colors like pastel pink, white, beige, etc. Somehow I think Mary did a good job with her colors-combo at the disembark on September 10. The balance is quite nice. The stunning lace dress from Temperley London and the simple black Prada jacket. Maybe it worked because she had chosen darker colored accessories.

Her hat is brand new from Canopy by Deborah Hutton. Similar to her other hats from the same designer. Kinda like the shape of the hat for her. The navy blue ribbon is a beautiful detail. Especially with her choice of blue Jimmy Choo pumps and clutch which is a much loved reuse from Quidam.

Mary wore earrings and a bracelet from Dulong Fine Jewelry such as a golden diamond bangle from Rebekka Notkin. Look closely and you'll see a diamond ring from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen as well.

Opening of the "Our Quality of Life" conference

20 March 2025

Queen Mary attended the opening of the "Our Quality of Life" conference hosted by Realdania. The conference took place on the International Day of Happiness.

The Queen was warmly welcomed by Chairman of Realdania Lars Krarup and CEO of Realdania Jesper Nygård when she arrived at Lokomotivværkstedet in Copenhagen.

She was given the honor of addressing to opening speech.

What is quality of life and can we build for it? The importance of the physical environment for our relationships and communities was discussed at the conference. Realdania also launched the largest study of quality of life in Denmark to date.

Never thought this Prada dress would look this good with black tights but I am truly impressed how well it matches. Actually I like it even more with black tights than without. What was your first thought? The dress is a reuse that goes back to 2015 when she attended 3rd World Conference on Women's Shelters in the Netherlands.

At the conference with Realdania Mary had chosen to accessorize the elegant dress with the most stunning white pearl earrings from Dulong Fine Jewelry and a matching bracelet and ring (same designer). She also wore a reused golden bangle from Rebekka Notkin and a third one. A NEW ONE. It is also from Rebekka Notkin. So delicate.

Mary's chic glasses are old ones from Tom Ford. Looked great that she had chosen her beloved black leather clutch from Quidam and new midi heels from Gianvito Rossi. Made the outfit look polished and beautiful

Church service for Ukraine

24 February 2025

King Frederik and Queen Mary attended a church service on the occasion of the anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine.

The church service took place at Holmen's church in Copenhagen. The royal couple attended the service along with among others Folketinget's Chairman Søren Gade and the Ambassador for Ukraine Andrii Yanevskyi. Members of the Danish Government also showed their support by attending the service.

I know. I know. Minor detail but I have to comment on her wearing sheer tights. Mary used to wear such tights back in the days but at some point it stopped. Now she brought back a favorit detail of mine. Am I the only one who noticed it?

At the church service Mary looked beautiful in a brand new long grey coat - blazer-like in style. So far I have not been able to identify it. I'd really like to hear your thoughts and id you have any ideas for a possible designer. Could it be bespoke? She styled it with a simple black turtleneck blouse or dress. It goes that she has never worn something similar but I remember a lest two times: when Duchess Catherine visited Copenhagen in 2022 and in 2012 when celebrating Queen Margrethe's 40th jubilee.

Mary accessorized the outfit with a new black headband from Jane Taylor - similar to this one, and elegant black south sea pearl earrings from Dulong Fine Jewelry. The fine diamond brooch is a gift from her late father-in-law. It belonged to Prince Henrik's mother.

The black Quidam clutch and reused suede Jimmy Choo pumps makes the outfit even more stunning.

Now they finally arrived in Sweden on board Dannebrog to attend their very first official state visit as King and Queen of Denmark. The visit will last from May 6th to May 7th.

The couple were warmly welcomed by King Carl Gustav and Queen Sonja, when they docked at Skeppbron. What an outfit! Mary looked absolutely stunning when the couple arrived in Stockholm for their two days official state visit. She wore her wonderful bespoke Mark Kenly Domino Tan dress and a chic dark cape to keep warm. The beautiful new hat is from Jane Taylor. Later on, she changed from hat to hair comb - an Ellen Hunter design.

Looking closer we see diamond earrings from Bruun Rasmussen, bracelets from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen and Dulong Fine Jewelry. Her other jewellery are Halberstadt and Julie Sandlau. Mary also wore her beloved Connaught Sapphire brooch. A gift from her parents-in-law on occasion of the birth of Crown Prince Christian.

Official gala dinner

King Carl Gustav and Queen Sonja hosted a prestiges gala dinner at Kungliga Slottet in Stockholm on occasion of the Danish King and Queen visiting Sweden.

Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel also attended the gala dinner, such as Prince Carl Philip and his wife Princess Sofia.

Both King Carl Gustav and King Frederik gave a speech before the dinner.

Queen of the night! Mary was indeed Queen of the night. She looked magical in her altered Jesper Høvring dress. Maybe you remember the golden skirt from 2017? At the gala dinner in Sweden, Mary wore the stunning skirt with another floral lace top. A creation by Jesper Høvring from Fall 2018.

Mary honored Queen Ingrid by wearing her famous and beloved Ruby Parure. The rubies are a wonderful match with the dress. Do you like the colorcombo? Even her box clutch matched in color. Dulong Fine Jewelry created the golden ruby ring in the same style as the parure.

We get a glimpse of her brand new beige satin pumps from Gianvito Rossi.

Presentation of 'Crown Princess Mary Scholarship' 2024

02 May 2024

It was a great day, when Queen Mary arrived to the University of Copenhagen to participate the presentation of 'Crown Princess Mary Scholarships' 2024. The scholarships are given to Australian students studying in Denmark as a "helping hand".

She was warmly welcomed with flower, handshakes and smiles. Rector Henrik C. Wegener was the first one to welcomed her.

This years recipient of the royal scholarships are Matthew Joffe and Sophia Parada.

The Queen looked beautiful in a white Harris Wharf London blazer (previously worn by Princess Isabella on Crown Prince Christian's 18th birthday in October last year), a reused printed blouse and chic black wide-legged trousers. She styled the outfit with Gucci glasses and jewellery from Dulong Fine Jewelry. Her Jimmy Choo pumps matched the navy blue Quidam clutch perfectly.

I think we have all been waiting with quite a lot of excitement to see Mary again after the proclamation. I have. Especially, to see a whole bunch of new outfits. Think she looked super cool in her brand new navy blue suit from The Fold London, when attending the presentation of this years EliteForsk Awards. Very polished and chic. Nevertheless, I might have had higher hopes.

What are your first thoughts?

She styled her new suit with grand old goodies. Like the white pearl earrings from Christian Dior. They go way back in time. She started wearing them in 2005 (here, here, here). Dulong Fine Jewelry custom-made her stunning white South Sea pearl ring. She has one similar in style but with a black pearl.

Mary also wore three necklaces. One from Halberstadt. One from Julie Sandlau and a brand new one. I really want to identify her new white pearl necklace, but I have not been able to so far. Let your eyes catch her golden bracelet. It features a diamond-studded 'M'.

As other accessories, Mary had chosen a beloved leather clutch from Quidam and stunning pointed python pumps from Gianvito Rossi. I am not a huge fan of animal print/leather, but Gianvito Rossi's pumps are incredible.

Celebration service in Aarhus

21 January 2024

It was simply wonderful to see the entire family gathered in Aarhus, when attending a celebration service in Aarhus Cathedral on Sunday (here). This was King Frederik and Queen Mary's second appliance as King and Queen since the proclamation on January 14th.

Queen Margrethe and Princess Benedikte also attended the celebration service along with representatives from the official Denmark and from Aarhus city.

The church service was led by royal Confessor and Bishop of Aarhus Diocese, Henrik Wigh-Poulsen.

Finally, something purple! I had high hopes that she would had been wearing either blue or purple for the proclamation. I didn't get that. But now I did. Mary looked absolutely stunning and elegant when attending the celebration service in Aarhus. The reused bespoke Søren Le Schmidt dress is incredible. The details are outstanding. She first wore it at the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla of Great Britain in 2023 (here).

Mary embraced the style with a purple felt hat from Jane Taylor. Also worn before (here, here). Somehow, I'd wished that she would have chosen another color than navy blue for the purple outfit. Still, I am intrigued by the match. Shawl, gloves, Quidam clutch and Jimmy Choo pointed pumps.

Her beautiful diamond earrings were once purchased at a Bruun Rasmussen auction. Maybe you recognize that fine brooch. It was a wedding gift from Prince Henrik. It belonged to his late mother.

Halberstadt and Julie Sandlau created her amazing necklaces. The symbolism is spot on for this event.

New Year's Eve reception

- at Amalienborg and Christiansborg

03 January 2024

It is also a tradition for the Queen to host three separately New Year's Eve receptions. The first two takes place on January 3rd. One for Supreme Court judges, the Royal Life Guards and the Officer Corps of the Guard Hussar Regiment at Christian VII's Palace at Amalienborg and the second one is for diplomatic corps at Christiansborg.

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary participated both receptions.

Tomorrow, Queen Margrethe will host her very last New Year's Eve reception as ruling Queen of Denmark. Next year, King Frederik will host the reception along with his wife - Queen Mary.

Mary wore a beloved bespoke Henrik Hviid evening gown. She has been wearing this exact gown for quite a few years now for this special event. Maybe she embraced her mother-in-laws dress code - wear the same gown as last year. Queen Margrethe has often been seen wearing the same outfit year after year for these New Year's Eve receptions. It is a very simple dress, but the details are exquisite!

A closer look revealed that she has chosen diamond earrings purchased at a Bruun Rasmussen auction. Adore the flower-shape. So elegant and romantic. The ruby brooch is perfect with the navy blue gown and sam-color nail polish.

We also get a glimpse of her Halberstadt necklace and a golden bracelet. It could be Cartier. Her ring is also very exciting. She wore it first for some years ago, but I was never able to identify it or find out where it is from. It's still a mystery.

As other accessories, Mary wore her reused Quidam clutch and suede blue Pura Lopez pumps. Also take a look at those stunning hair combs. One of them has been identified as Ellen Hunter.

Queen Margrethe was accompanied by Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary and Princess Benedikte, when welcoming the King Felipe and Queen Letizia.

The official welcoming ceremony took place at Christiansborg. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen also attended the ceremony.

Prior to the welcoming ceremony at Christiansborg, the Danish and Spanish royals visited Kastellet and later on they were escorted by carriage to Christians VII's Palace at Amalienborg.

Even though we have seen pretty much every single piece of her outfit before, then I think her style was a bit different than we are use to see. I can't really explain it. Think it is the combination of colors and that hat. Would really like to see her wear that new hat with another outfit. Any idea were it is from?

Mary matched a brand new Scanlan Theodore dress with a reused dark green The Fold London wool-blend coat. The color is outstanding. Elegant and delicate. She style it with her amazing studded Valentino pumps. Imagine those in our wardrobe. Sight!

As other accessories, Mary had chosen a beloved Quidam clutch.

A closer look revealed that she was in fact wearing huge diamond earrings once purchased at an Bruun Rasmussen auction and a stunning brooch from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen. The combo is a bit odd but both pieces are magnificent. The same goes with the Dulong Fine Jewelry black South Sea pearl bracelet.

Mary looked smashing in her reused bespoke Lasse Spangenberg Copenhagen evening gown. I learned that her gown is in fact dusty green. I aways thought it was soft blue. Now I like it even more. She first wore it in 2022 on occasion of her 50th birthday (here).

She embraced the magical gala outfit with her beautiful tiara once purchased at an Bruun Rasmussen auction. It can also be worn as a necklace. For the first time, I think the tiara suited her outfit with such perfection it is scary. The earrings are also an auction purchase.

"General Housing Days 2023"

30 September 2023

Just before entering October, Crown Princess Mary attended (along with the Mary Foundation) the conference "General Housing Days 2023" (here).

The conference is arranged by BL - Denmark's General Housing. It took place at Tivoli Hotel in Copenhagen.

The Crown Princess was accompanied by CEO of the Mary Foundation Helle Østergaard. They were warmly welcomed by Chairman of BL Allan Werge and his associate Vinie Hansen.

In her opening speech, Crown Princess Mary highlighted the importance of the initiatives that help to strengthen the community and create close relationships are crucial in combating loneliness.

I am not quite sure I haven chosen this outfit this time a year, but Mary owned it with perfection. Wonder if she wasn't cold? Nevertheless, she looked absolutely magnificent in her old many year old Elise Gug blouse and navy/white potted Baum und Pferdgarden midi skirt. The skirt is also a reuse. Beautiful!

Mary embraced the style by wearing golden jewellery. Custom-made earrings from Dulong Fine Jewelry. Necklaces from Halberstadt and Julie Sandlau. A diamond studded Rebekka Notkin ring and a wavy cuff from Dulong Fine Jewelry.

She also matched her outfit with a quality leather clutch from Quidam and brand new Valentino slingback pumps. I am in heaven about these new pumps. Please, wear them with trousers one day.

Day 2. King Carl Gustaf's Golden Jubilee

15 September 2023

Kungl. Slottet, Stockholm

Queen Margrethe, Princess Anne-Marie and the Crown Prince Couple arrived in Stockholm the previous day to attend the grand celebration of Kin Carl Gustaf's Golden Jubilee. The Swedish king celebrate his 50th anniversary.

On Friday, they all accompanied that Swedish royal family and visited King Gustaf 6. Adolf of Sweden's memorial side in Hagaparken (here).

Later on, the Queen, Princess Anne-Marie and the Crown Prince Couple attended a church service in Te Deum. The service was then followed by changing of the guards. The royal family watched the changing from the balcony of the royal palace.

Wauw. Mary looked soooooo beautiful when attending activities on occasion of King Carl Gustaf's Golden Jubilee on September 15th. It is the second time she wears this amazing blue printed Erdem dress. First, was when Denmark hosted an official visit from Norway earlier this year (here). Mary embraced the delicate style of the dress with a matching fascinator.

I have never been able to identify it, but hopefully I will some day. It goes back to the coronation in the Netherlands in 2013 (here). Love its simple and elegant design.

As jewellery, Mary had chosen stunning diamond earrings once purchased at a Bruun Rasmussen auction back in 2022.

She matched the dress and fascinator with a beloved Quidam clutch, Gianvito Rossi leather pumps and what looks like a lovely blue cardigan.

Gala dinner

In the evening, friends and family were invited to attend a gala dinner at Riksalen at Kungl. Slottet (here). Both Queen Margrethe, Princess Anne-Marie, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended the dinner.

King Carl Gustaf gave a welcome speech before the dinner, where he embraced his role a King of Sweden. How much it means to him to represent Sweden, his family and the Swedish people. He also took the opportunity to thank his beloved wife, Queen Silvia for spending her life with him.

If the midnight blue evening gown in fact is a reuse with alterations, I have not confirmed, but it looks a lot like another one of her gown (here). Nevertheless, her gown worn at the gala dinner in Stockholm is mastered by Danish designer Lasse Spangenberg. About now, he has created quite a few dresses for her.

Mary styled her evening look with a very special tiara. Her wedding tiara. It was given to her by Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik. Her new parents-in-law. The story goes that her aquamarine earrings are a gift from Crown Prince Frederik. But I do not know for sure. The story is the same with the HUGE ring.

The two diamond cuffs are made by Annikat. Love that she wore both of them. We get a glimpse of her wearing a diamond hairpin - which I believe is a brooch. I think it could be this one.

She also matched the outfit with a blue satin box clutch from Prada and satin pumps from Gianvito Rossi.

Presentation of the "Danish Business Award 2023"

06 September 2023

It was all about 'digital power of action', when Crown Princess Mary attended the presentation of the "Danish Business Award 2023" (here). The award ceremony took place in Øksnehallen in Copenhagen.

Five different Danish companies competed to win this year. The winner was JN Data. Crown Princess Mary handed over the award herself. Congratulations to JN Data with the prestigious award and the title!

The Danish Business Award 2023 is presented on occasion of the Danish Business Anniversary.

It is just a simple black dress but I am in heaven! Mary looks amazing in her brand new GOAT Fashion dress. The silhouette is gorgeous on her and the details are exquisite. Delicate! She looks so comfortable in her new dress.

Mary accessorized it with plenty of beautiful jewellery. Like the golden Rebekka Notkin bangle; the custom-made rose-quarts earrings and bracelet from Dulong Fine Jewelry and expensive Halberstadt and Julie Sandlau necklaces. A wonderful combination. We also get a glimpse of some diamond rings from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen.

She was also wearing yet another piece of jewellery. A brooch. In fact, her belt is actually an old brooch. Mary first wore it at the 67th WHO Regional Committee for Europe in 2017 (here). It is still to be identified. LOVE that she shows how to use a brooch nothing like a brooch. Magnificent!

I am not quite sure if I get why she chose her blue Quidam clutch with those snakeskin pumps from Gianvito Rossi. That is still a mystery to me. Do you like it?
