New Year Reception

- Christiansborg

January 06, 2026

King Frederik and Queen Mary hosted their final New Year Reception at Christiansborg in Copenhagen. They were driven in the Golden Coach from Amalienborg to Christiansborg. The coach was escorted by the Guard Hussar Regiment's Mounted Squadron.

The reception was hosted for Officers from the Defence and Danish Emergency Management Agency. Representative from the public sector, selected groups with noble and honorary titles, national organizations and royal patronages were also invited to the reception.

Seems like Mary is fond of golden outfits this New Year. For the reception at Christiansborg she had chosen a reused golden Teri Jon by Rickie Freemann gown. Mary first wore the gown for an official dinner in Katuaq, Greenland in 2024. Her fine white wool-blend coat is from JOSEPH.

She embraced the stunning gown with a number of exclusive pieces of jewellery. Like the diamond earrings. They once belonged to Anne of Orange. The beautiful brooch is actually Queen Louise's engagement bracelet. I am sure you noticed the incredible golden bracelet. It was an engagement present from King Frederik VIII to his future wife Queen Lovisa.

The fine clutch is a reuse as well but I have never been able to identify it. Her dusty rose suede pointed pumps are from Gianvito Rossi. What an outfit!

Day 1. Official State visit to Latvia

October 28, 2025

Official welcoming ceremony

King Frederik and Queen Mary have arrived in Riga Latvia. The state visit marks the beginning of the Royal Couple's travels to the three Baltic countries and focuses on the close cooperation between Denmark and Latvia in culture, security and common European values. The visit will last from October 28th to 29th.

Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs welcomed the couple to Riga Castle where the official welcoming ceremony took place. The King and Queen also had the opportunity to meet with the Danish and Latvian delegations.

The couple also visited with Moment of Liberty, the Latvian Occupation Museum and participated a guided tour in Riga's Art Nouveau district.

Mary looked absolutely stunning in her navy blue coat. It was created by talented Danish designer Søren Le Schmidt. Mary first wore the coat at the 80th anniversary of Denmark's liberation in May. Later that month she wore it celebrating her husband's birthday. In Latvia she had chosen to add a Max Mara belt which I kinda like but it makes her look a bit too thin.

The sunning headpiece matched the coat beautifully. Milliner Katrin Cecilia Jacobsen created this incredible piece of headwear. Amazing work.

She accessorized the outfit with exclusive pearl earrings and a matching brooch. Both pieces are part of the Danish Pearl Poiré Parure. The set also comes with another brooch, a necklace and a tiara. The custom-made pearl ring made by Dulong Fine Jewelry was a great addition to the old inherited jewellery.

Her fine leather clutch is a reuse from Quidam. When they arrived in Riga Mary wore polished Prada pumps. Later, she changed to a pair of black Gianvito Rossi boots and a black woolen coat. The paisley scarf is also a reuse.

Evening banquet

President Edgars Rinkēvičs hosted an evening banquet at Riga Castle with King Frederik and Queen Mary as guests of honor. The King gave a speech prior to the dinner being service.

The King was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the Three Stars - Latvia's highest military order. The Queen received the Grand Cross of the Order of the Three Stars. The President was awarded the Order of the Elephant - Denmark's finest order.

Mary first wore the incredible red gown at the New Year's Eve Banquet in January 2018. It is tailored by Søren Le Schmidt. I love when she is wearing bright colors. Looks great with her brown hair and fair skin. Somehow I think she gown looks better with a full up-do. Can't really tell why but I think it suits the gown better. What are your thoughts?

She styled the smashing silk gown with a tiara purchased at an Bruun Rasmussen auction back in 2015. It can be worn both as a tiara and a necklace. The earrings have never been identified but she has worn them numerous times as a set to the tiara.

Her golden bracelet once belonged to Queen Louise. It was her engagement bracelet. I am so sure Mary's huge diamond ring is the same one Queen Margrethe wore on her first official portrait as Queen of Denmark in 1972.

Looks like Mary's pumps are the same colors as her gown. Either in suede or silk. The bordeaux clutch is a reuse from Sergio Rossi.

Day 2. Official state visit in France

01 April 2025

King Frederik and Queen Mary joined the Presidential couple for a visit at the Manufactures des Gobelins followed by the official opening of "Economic Forum".

Later on, King Frederik and President Macron accompanied each other while the First Lady and Queen Mary visited Ecole Maternelle Dussoubs. The school has become part of the Mary Foundation's "Free of Bullying"-program.

The couple then attended the Partnership Event at Palais Brongniart followed by a visit at Grand Palais.

Mary looked beautiful in a reused Scanlan Theodore suit matched with a stunning high-neck blouse. She wore the blouse on November 11th 2024 when attending the Child Welfare Day. It is still unidentified. Any ideas? I really like the dusty green color of the suit and the soft powder pink blouse. Makes a great match.

She embraced the style with a diamond butterfly brooch - the Mary Foundation's logo. The fine rosette is the Legion d'honneur. The French Order of Honor goes back to 1802 and the is the most prestigious French other.

We get a glimpse of her accessorizing the outfit with a Max Mara handbag and stylish python pointed pumps from Gianvito Rossi.

Reciprocal arrangement

Tradition goes that the hosting couple host the first (and finest) galla event and the visiting couple host a reciprocal arrangement on the last day of the state visit. This is why the King and Queen hosted a reciprocal dinner at Le Grand Hôtel.

The French Presidential Couple were invited as guests of honor. The Danish business delegation and members of the French and Danish guests were also invited to attend the dinner representing diplomacy, culture, politics and business.

Mary looked like a moviestar at the reciprocal event at Le Grand Hôtel! The stunning dress/coat is a reuse from Taller Marmo. Do you remember when she first wore it? If your answer is May 21st 2022 you're right. Mary wore the dress at a gala event in Tivoli on occasion of Queen Margrethe's 50th anniversary.

At the dinner Mary styled the magnificent dress with large golden earrings from Alma e Coração. They are traditional Portuguese design. A closer look reveal that she was also wearing Queen Louise's engagement bracelet and a golden ring featuring an orange stone.

The chic black lace pumps are from Gianvito Rossi.

New Year's reception at Amalienborg & Christiansborg

06 January 2025

On Thursday King Frederik and Queen Mary hosted their very first New Year's Even Banquet at Amalienborg.

January 6th the couple then hosted their first New Year's reception for the Justice of the Surpreme Court and Officer Corps of the Royal Life Guard. The Guard of Hussar Regiment were also invited to the reception at Christian VII's Palace at Amalienborg.

Around the couple hosted yet another reception for the Diplomatic Corps at Christiansborg.

Mary looked beautiful in her reused Teri Jon by Rickie Freeman dress! Perfect for the occasion and its wintery vibe is just great. She first wore the dress at an official dinner in Katuaq July 2024. The the New Year's reception Mary added a white turtleneck and long white gloves. I kinda like that. What about you? Think it made the dress even more glamourous.

Mary embraced the style with a stunning hairdo! Such an elegant choice. Made the incredible diamond earrings stand out. The once belonged to Anne of Orange. Another piece of history is the golden diamond bracelet. It is Queen Louise's engagement bracelet. LOVE that she is wearing all these historical pieces of jewellery. Jewellery we haven't seen for years.

The bracelet can also be worn as a brooch and the earrings can go as pendants on a necklace. She also wore a fine clutch and matching suede Gianvito Rossi pumps.
