As patron of Mødrehjælpen, Mary was invited to visit The Family House in Høje Taastrup, to see for herself how this project works in practice. On a cold-, windy- and rainy February day, Mary arrived to Høje Taastrup accompanied by Minister for Employment Mette Frederiksen (the women wearing the blue down jacket). They have met at several occasions at similar events. Along with Mette Frederiksen, she walked the few meters before she was welcomed by a sweet little flower boy and girl. Shy, they both handed over each a bouquet of flowers which she with great pleasure received. Eye to eye with the two "flower kids" she had a little chat with them before she shook hands with the Chief Executive. They all seemed like it was a true pleasure to met one another. These visits I always think of as private because thought cameras follow each and every step Mary takes, she always seems to be a little more casual at such visits. I hope you understand what I mean. Maybe you can describe it better than me. Mary has been patron of Mødrehjælpen since 2007 and has closely been following her work since which I also why I believe it was a great honor for her to attend and see some of the amazing results for herself that was there the purpose of her visit. Mary also had the chance to meet some of the young mothers and their children staying at The Family House. After a guided tour around the house, she had a chat with some of the residents over a cop of coffee which Mary of course served herself. I think they all had a wonderful day.

As I told you, the weather is not that good in Denmark right now. A little rainy and foggy with sun now and then. What we would call a typical spring weather in Denmark. A little of everything. This is my guess why Mary was dressed the way she was; warm and casual also because of the occasion. The pair of black suede ankle boots and trousers in the same colour are a great base, such as the black scarf to keep her neck warm. Black is always a winner and wearable at any occasion, day and night. It also makes her look a bit longer and more slim, actually a perfect trick if you are a rather small person as I am (159 cm). Non of these items do I have an ID on. Based on the shape, her ankle boots could be Prada but I have nothing to prove it, they just reminds me of another pair of brown ankle boots of hers which are from Prada. In a way I like how she matched that white lace blouse, which I by the way really think it beautiful, with her red Étoile Isabel Marant jacket. I would really like to be able to see the lace top but unfortunately we didn't. Any idea where it could be from? Or does the floral pattern remind you of a specific designer? I haven't found it yet nor does it remind me of anything. As far as what I know this is the first time we see her in it (hopefully not the last time). She accessorized her outfit with a few pieces of jewellery; earrings, bracelet -Shamballa Jewelsand four diamond rings from Ole Lynggaard. Worn a lot lately. To get back to the earrings for a moment, I think they are very interesting. Yes they are beautiful and yes she has worn them once or twice before but right now I'm more interested in where they are from or who designed them. They features a fleur de lis, a French lily, and some kind of pendant and a white pearl. Despite their site they are incredible beautiful decorated. I have a theory, but it's only a theory! They could be inherited from her mother-in-low, Queen Margrethe. These earrings could be the one Queen Margrethe wore on her official photo on her 18th birthday. But so far I have no proof. Maybe we will some day get this mystery solved. With windblown hair and a sweet smile on her face she looked fantastic!

A Documentary About Asger Jorn

February, 25th
Photo @Agnés Colbert
Crown Princess Mary attended the premier of Man signer ikke nej til Asger! at the National Gallery of Denmark (SMK - Statens Museum for Kunst). A new documentary about Asger Jorn on the occasion of his 100th anniversary made of Anna von Lowzow.

Now you may think, who on earth is Asger Jorn and why make a documentary about him? Despite we have the same nationality, I also only knew very little about her because writing this post. I thought it might be a good idea to tell you some more about him and what he was doing before we go on to Mary's attendance at the premier. Asger Jorn was a famous Danish artist, graphic artist and ceramist etc. In the 1940s he began his carrier which he continued till his death about 60 years later. He wrote several books about politics, history and philosophy as well during his carrier. The biggest collection of his artworks can be found at Silkeborg Museum of Art (Silkeborg Kunstmuseum) which all includes Asger Jorn's masterpiece Stalingrad. Asger had a very significant style; bright colours and abstract figures. At Silkeborg Museum of Art's website you get an insight into his art, which thoughts he had when painting. I'm sure you can quickly see what I mean about the colours and figures. Even 43 years after his death, his artworks are still highly admired by people all over the world. So Anna von Lowzow (the woman wearing a blue dress on the photo above) and Lene Borch Hansen decided to make his 59 year old life into a documentary. Anna von Lowzow's name you may have heart before in connection with Crown Princess Mary and the Danish royal family because she is the women who is the inventor of The Royal Jewels (De Kongelige Juveler). Man signer ikke nej til Asger! is made in collaboration with Anna von Lowzow, Lene Borch Hansen and producer Louise Birk Petersen who also was the procurer of The Royal Jewels. They all worked intense to create this documentaryThe documentary is mainly told be relatives, friends and family who all knew Asger Jorn as an artist and private person. Among others we meet his son, Troels Jorn. The film shows private photos and letters, all to show what and incredible man Asger Jorn was. He fought to become famous in Denmark and now he is. Because of this new film some of his artworks was displayed the National Gallery of Denmark (SMK - Statens Museum for Kunst) in Copenhagen. Art lovers were gathered to, well of course enjoy the documentary but also the enjoy some of Asger Jorn's art including Mary.

She was invited as the guest of honor to attend the premier. Welcomed by the instructor and creator herself, Anna von Lowzow, she arrived in an excellent mood yesterday. She had a chat with several of the others who participated and seemed to enjoy everybody's company as they enjoyed hers. Afterward Mary was given a guided tour around the gallery to see the displayed pieces of art created by the big artist himself. At several occasion Mary have told who much she loves coloured art and not to forget, her and Frederik chose very colourful pieces of art to decorate their home at Amalienborg during the renovation finished in 2010. So I think she really enjoyed watching the artworks closely on her own.

One of the reasons why I believe so many like Mary's style and how she mixes clothes, is the why she mixes old and new items. This I love about her! She shows clearly how to reuse clothes and accessories year after year after year. Every time in a new and brilliant way. The same applies at yesterday's outfits: something old and something new. I'd hoped for a little more colours because colours suits her so well and makes her look stunning but still this is nice and elegant. Maybe she chose black clothes for everybody's eyes to be on their colourful art? Who knows. The stylish black blouse that features sheer sleeves, we have seen before; in 2009 when Frederik and her attended the premier of the movie Ved Verdens Ende. Did you recognize it? I did, right way! Lovely to see that again after so many years. When she arrived to the National Gallery of Denmark, she was also wearing and old jacket seen the year before the blouse. In 2008 the couple were on an official trip to Iceland and here she wore this black jacket at a dinner. When I think about it, that trip was really great. So many sweet moments between Frederik and Mary. The black leather clutch from Carlend Copenhagen we have also seen before at several different events. Good quality never goes out of style. What's new? The pleated skirt of course. Despite the length, it suit her really well. I haven't been able to identify it yet but my guess is Baum und Pferdgarten because of the similar green skirt she has. Looks just like this just shorter and of course green. Did you manage to find it? The most amazing new item she wore yesterday was the pumps. Have you seen them?! If not, quick take a look. You see a photo of them below. I'm so lucky to be able to share some of Agnés Colbert's photos! If you can feel love for a pair of shoes, then I think I just feel in love with these. I really like the metallic cap-toe. My first guess on who could have designed them was Gianvito Rossi, Jimmy Choo or maybe By Malene Birger and thanks to my most wonderful reader Pernille it turns out that they are in fact from Gianvito Rossi. She added a little colours with a pair of dark green Jewlscph earrings. A beautiful pair with a drop pendant. Because of her fair skin we really had the chance to see them, also because of the low messy chignon. Dazzling! Mary also wore two of her diamond bands from Ole Lynggaard and the golden Shamballa Jewels bracelet.

Birkerød Gymnasium Model United Nations Conference 2014

Crown Princess Mary attended the opening of Birkerød Gymnasium Model United Nations Conference 2014 (BIGMUN) at Birkerød Gymnasium.

Birkerød Gymnasium Model United Nations Conference 2014 / BIGMUN
350 high school students get the opportunity to discuss and negotiate as UN delegates at the simulated UN summit. The students represent different countries and that countries point of view in different debates. There are students from countries including the United States, Turkey, the Netherlands and Denmark. Topics such as the use of the death penalty and women's rights will be discussed at the conference. Crown Princess Mary is one of the keynote speakers. Read more here.

After a few days with Frederik and the children skiing in Verbiér, Mary is back to work. On her first day she attended the opening ceremony of Birkerød Gymnasium Model United Nations Conference 2014 or shortened to BIGMUN, at Birkerød Gymnasium. At the arrival she was warmly greeted and given a pretty bouquet of flowers by one of the students. With her beautiful smile and charismatic personality she took time to meet some of the students participating. The BIGMUN conference gives 350 high school students get the opportunity to discuss and negotiate as UN delegates at the simulated UN summit. What was discussed during the conference at Birkerød Gymnasium was important topics as women's rights, something Mary has been very committed to fight for both as her work with the Mary Foundation and as patron of national and international organizations. As the keynote speaker of the opening ceremony, Mary gave a remarkable speech which I'm sure encouraged the students to do their best in the debate. The 350 students are from several different countries from all around the world. They represented each their own country and that countries point of view in the different debates. All these different opinions quickly created a debate among the many students participating which I think enjoyed a day as UN delegates.

"I strongly believe that Gender Equality is the single most important thing that can be done to improve the world. Gender equality is a human right and the foundation for building vibrant, health and prosperous societies and economies."
"I want a world, where all woman and men, adult and young have equal opportunities, freedoms and choices to forge their own life aspirations and destinies."
"I look very much forward to hearing the outcomes you agree upon. Maybe they will come to serve as inspiration for me in my work." - Crown Princess Mary

Above you see three quotes from Mary's speech, three quotes I think are so strong. She managed to point out the importance of why we do this: to help. By giving these high school students the opportunity to discuss international issues, we commit them to fight for a better world from an early age. These are more likely to be involved in the debate when they get older. Hopefully, there was shared opinions during the conference that can help to save lives and make people's lives better in the future. A truly impressed Mary left the conference about an hour later. Maybe she actually found some inspiration by listening to the students?

Sometimes you need to tell your first impression, so that's what I'm going to do now. That dress with these boots is differently not a good match. They look too "heavy" with that rather thin dress, which by the way is new. I like the idea using black as a kind of basic matched with a printed dress. I hope the only reason why she wore these black Prada boots, was because of the weather. February is always a cold month in Denmark and this is too. What do you think? Am I the only one who have a problem with the combo of dress and shoes? Enough about that. Amazing reader Angela first told me about Mary's new dress. She was able to identify it as Isabel Marant for H&M (collection 2013). I was so sure Heartmade was the designer because the pattern reminded me so much of Heartmade's other designs. Kinda Boheme, casual style. But I was wrong. All my gratitude of course goes to Angela!! She matched a black blazer as well as black sheer tights to her business outfits. This I haven't been able to find but maybe you know something about it? I'm pretty sure we have seen it before somewhere. I already mentioned her Prada boots which I really like not to be misunderstood because of my first statement. She wore them a couple of weeks ago with a shirt dress, I'm sure you remember that outfit with the white turtleneck. I have a pair of boots that look very similar to Mary's, a pair of boots I adore as much as hers. I think a pair of black pumps would have been way better this time. To match the tiny pattern on the dress, that might be hard to see but it is there, she wore earrings and a ring from Pomellato. The dusty blue colour looks beautiful next to her dark brown hair and fair skin. I can't take the credit of identifying her jewellery but I am proud to share it with you! Last but not least she accessorized her looks with the Bottega Veneta handbag. I can’t count the times she has been seen with this back for the last 10 years. That's why I love her style, she manage to wear clothes, shoes and other accessories new ways despite it's not new purchase or the latest trend. A black quality bag will do for many years whatever your style is and will develop. So my last question would be; hot or not? Is this an outfit you hope to see again or...?

The Ordrupgaard Exhibition

February, 6th
Photo @Agnés Colbert
Crown Princess Mary attended the opening of Ordrupgaard's exhibition in Charlottenlund.

Yesterday she celebrated her birthday, 42 years old! I already wished her a happy birthday and today it's time for me to send all my best wishes to her sister-in-law Princess Marie. Because today she turns 38 years old. She was, like Mary, celebrated behind closed doors by friends and family. Earlier this morning Mary attended the Elite Research Conference 2014 in Ny Carlsberg Glyptotekt. Arround dinner time she arrived to Ordrupgaard in Charlottenlund, a little outside Copenhagen, to attend the opening of their new exhibition. She was the guest of honor. With a big smile on her face she was welcomed from the second she arrived in her black car perfectly matching her outfits as well as the dark evening. I think I would call this visit a little more private than usually, it's so hard to find anything from her appearance at the opening. No photos, not articles, nothing. Luckily, I'm in contact with the sweet and dear Agnés Colbert who kindly have shared all her photos with me, so I can share it all with you. I may have some of the best photos to show! Thanks Agnés, it means the world to me that I'm able to share your beautiful photos. After the opening speech, she was given a guided tour around to see the exhibition. She was introduced to the pairings and had some time alone to admire the art in front of her. Her smile and laugh was even bigger when she met a good old friend Per Thornit, who is the Crown Prince couples former Lord Chamberlain. He resigned in 2010. But it was a happy reunion when they met at the exhibition in Charlottenlund. He was accompanied by his wife Ulla. They both seemed to enjoy all the exhibited art.

Photos @Agnés Colbert

Well, well, well now we are talking! A classy new black dress and the most amazing new pumps. I have to admit, I was not overwhelmed by her look earlier at the presentation in Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek but it's was indeed beautiful. Sometimes we have to wait before we get something like this. I almost lost my breath when Agnés shared her photos with me... I was so exited and I still am. I truly admire this outfit. A magnificent match of clothes and accessories. Despite how much I want it, it was not me who identified her brand new dress, which by the way features a beaded belt in the waist line !(!). Her dress was found by Kate who I thanks of all my heart for sharing her findings with me. I could talk about this dress for hours; it suits her beautifully. I have a similar dress with some other beadings on the upper body and it's vintage but in general it's more or less the same. Now I love my own dress even more because though you can mix and match almost everything with a black dress, you sometimes run out of inspiration. BAM! Now I have my next evening outfit thanks to Mary and her incredible style. The sheer tights she had chosen was perfect because then we had a much better look at the new pumps. I can feel my heart is still beating totally uncontrolled. Her shoes is from Gianvito Rossi, a shoe designer she has been wearing a couple of times lately and I'm sure it is not the last time -hope not. This model looks so stunning on her foot and makes a great combo with the Prada dress. In a similar colour as on the shoes, she wore a pair of earrings. New? I'm not a 100% sure if we have seen them before. Then she wore her Shamballa Jewels bracelet and two out of three diamonds rings from Ole Lynggaard. Again we have the red nail polish and Carlend Copenhagen crock clutch. Two things I never get tired of. I would so much like to her your thoughts about this outfit! Oh.. I almost forgot her coat, it's a black Prada coat.

The Elite Research Conference 2014

Crown Princess Mary attended the Elite Research Conference 2014 which took place in Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek.

Elite Research Conference / EliteForsk Konference
Every year the Elite Research award given to five Danish outstanding scientists are honored by the Danish Education- and Research Minister. The award is created to improve the awareness of research in Denmark and what important work scientists do. Read more here

Despite the weather, Mary was in a really great mood when she around 1:00 pm. local time arrived to Ny Carlsberg Glyptoteket in Copenhagen to attend the presentation of the Elite Research Award on occasion of the Elite Search Conference 2014. This is not the first time Mary attend to hand over the award, among others she attended in 2008 and 2009. Now she is back more beautiful as ever. At the arrival she stepped out of her car and walk the last few meters till she entered the building. Surrounded by magnificent sculptures and exotic plants Mary found her seat in the front row ready to enter the stage to hand over the award along with Research Minister Sofie Carsten Nielsen who was the one to accompany her when she arrived. The five recipients of the Elite Research Award 2014 are Daniel Otzen, Martin Røssel Larsen, Jens-Christian Svenning, Morten Petersen Broberg and Mads Brandbyge. While Research Minister Sofie Carsten Nielsen introduced the recipients, Mary was ready with greetings. Furthermore 20 candidates each the Elite Research Fellowships 2014. Read about all of them here. DKK 1.2 million goes to the five men who received the award. Afterwards, Mary and the recipients was photographed in memory of this day. It was some very proud recipients who together with Mary celebrated this memorable day. About an hour or so later Mary waved goodbye and found her car which was waiting outside to bring her home.

Photos @Agnés Colbert

Despite the lack of colours I her grey and black outfit from the presentation of he Elite Research Award at Ny Carlsberg Glytotek. The shape is what I love the most! The skirt gives her a beautiful figure because of the A-line shape. It features a lace print and is by the way new. I have not been able to identify it and really, the style does not reminds my of anything. I would appreciate your help finding her new skirt. Maybe Prada or Hugo Boss could be a possibility? Well, let me know what you have in mind. A black turtleneck is a classic item Mary often wear when it's a little cold outside which it is in Denmark right now. I wonder why she did not wear a coat? I have photos from when she arrived and when she leaved, and no coat at all. She's a tough woman. Like when she in the autumn has bare legs, that's just cool. Back to what she actually wore. A turtleneck is essential and I love to wear them like Mary seems to do. The black one i associate with 1950s Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn. Her hair was truly amazing! A perfect blow out with lots of volume. Because of the high neck on the blouse, all attention was on her face -and stunning makeup. Agnés Colbert was able to get this beautiful photos of her (above) that clearly shows both hair and makeup. She looks so natural with the rosy cheeks and pale pink lips. She accessorized her outfit with powder pink rose quartz earrings and necklace from Marianne Dulong. A dazzling match to her makeup. As the other jewellery she wore a black pearl bracelet. The black crock clutch is made by Carlend Copenhagen, worn at multiple occasions and it still looks so amazing, just like the SAND Copenhagen pumps. First I assumed that L.K. Bennett was the designer but I was wrong. It's not that easy to find SAND's clothes and accessories online but it has been confirmed. SAND is the designer. In the beginning I told that despite the lack of colours I fancy her outfit but actually she was wearing a few colours and one of them is red. Red nail polish seems to be popular for her to wear right now, which makes me terrible happy. I'm a sucker for red nail polish and wear it as often as possible. It's classy, stylish, feminine and edgy at the same time. If you never have tried that colour before, do it -I will assure you, you gonna love it!

The Cancer Society Award 2014

February, 4th
Photo @Agnés Colbert

Crown Princess Mary presented the Cancer Society's Award 2014 (Kræftens Bekæmpelses Hæderspris) in Skuespilhuset, Copenhagen, on occasion of World Cancer Day.

Bt.dk

Even though Denmark is a small country, we have a big heart and try to attend as many international projects as possible. The way we celebrate the international World Cancer Day is with the Cancer Society's Award. To honor a special person or organization that have done something extraordinary in the work with cancer patients. More than once Mary has expressed how hard she thinks it is to see children get cancer. Something she pointed out again at her appearance in Skuespilhuset to present this years recipient. At the arrival she was given a beautiful bouquet of flowers by the most adorable lille girl, 5-year old Anna, in a pink tulle dress. A true little princess. So sweet. As usual Mary took all the time she needed to get the little girl comfortable in her presence. I reality Mary is still the same ordinary Australian girl and does nothing to be more special than everybody else. A thing, I think people around her feel. With a smile all over her face she shook hands with all she met during the trip from the hall to her seat at the front raw. Before she on her own entered the stage, a short film was shown with pictures of patients with cancer which had a huge impact on Mary. I'm sure it was a great honor for Mary, for the second time, to present the recipient of the Cancer Society Award 2014. The award was given to the childcare institution Børnehuset Siv in Farum which is the only institution in Denmark who takes care of children with a weakened immune systems due to cancer and other severe diseases. It was the proud Daily manager Susssi Olsen who as represent received the the award. It is the mother of flower-grild Anna, who was diagnosed with cancer in the age of 2, who had set Børnehuset Siv to receive this years Cancer Society Award.

With a dreamy look in her eyes and the most magnificent floral dress, Mary won my heart instantly with this outfit! Personally, I am a huge lover of the 50s printed dressed with large tulle skirt and colourful patterns, red nail polish and feminine jewelleries. Which of course is one of the reasons why I adore the look from the presentation. At her last public appearance on occasion of the schools 200 years anniversary, she wore her black Prada coat, the exact same one as yesterday. Nothing new about that but the dress... wauw. All the credit to who found it goes to Kilimia, because this time I was not able to identify it. The stunning black and red floral dress is from Oscar De La Renta! A remarkable dress that shows the beauty of a woman's body. Just like the wonderful dress, she wore brand new black patent pumps which I strongly believe is from Gianvito Rossi because of the v-shaped toe. I haven't found the exactly same model but take a look at the link below and let me know what you think. Or maybe you've been able to find them? To match the rest of the 50s outfit, she wore a pair of beautiful Marianne Dulong pearl earrings. They look stunning all by itself. And then we are around her head, take a notice of her curly hair! Almost no hairstyle would be better than this. It's an easy updo to make but still it looks so glamorous especially with the simply eye makeup and red lipgloss. With red nails, her golden Shamballa Jewels bracelet and the stylish Carlend Copenhagen clutch this might be my favourite outfit of them all in 2014. (Though the year has just begun) Let me know what you think about her amazing 1950s outfit.

And of course I want to thanks Agnés Colbert for letting me share her wonderful photos!

From 1814-2014: 200 Years of Anniversary

February, 3rd
Photo @Agnés Colbert
As patron, Crown Princess Mary participated in the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the introduction of compulsory education for Danish children.

What are we celebrating?
Back in 1814 King Frederik VI signed the low about compulsory education, at that time called "almueskolen" in Danish, also know as the primary school. The society changed and it was about time that the school was a part of any child's everyday life. Today, 200 years after, the foundation of compulsory education remains the same.

Princesdanoisacopenhague.centerblog.net

As patron and Crown Princess Mary attended the opening of the a 200 year anniversary because this year, 2014, it's exactly 200 years ago that the compulsory education was introduced in Denmark during the time when Frederik VI was king in 1814. The opening took place in Lærerstandens Brandforskinrings premises in Copenhagen. With a white bouquet of flowers Mary was warmly welcomed when she arrived earlier this morning to participate in the celebration. I think it was a great pleasure for her to be able to attend the opening. Before she entered the stage and gave her speech, the choir from Utterslev school marked the opening with one of the songs which have always been sung previously in schools across the country. A song written by Harlad Bergstedts in 1921. Many of the participants probably clearly remember the song from their own childhood. In her speech Mary pointed out how important the school is to us and how our life will develop in the future. It's here we create our first friendships and create dreams about our own future. We get tools that are fundamental for us as a human and learn how to read, write and how to count. We learn to develop ourselves in the time we go to school. She also pointed out we are good to communicate and work together which is important to maintain. Both royal speakers and politicians were all introduced with some fact about their own school which I believe was much fun for all of them. During a celebration like this, three concepts were also involved in the conversation -past, present and future. How is it possible to develop the school system we have today by learning from the past to make it a even better school system in the future? With this question the 200 year anniversary was begun.

Photos @Agnés Colbert

Like past, present and future, it is the third time we see her in this dress and the significant blouse. Every time we see it, I think it get better and better. At first I have to admit I did not fancy the white turtleneck featuring black sleeve ends despite I love turtleneck blouses. But I have come to like it pretty much. Looks really cool with the kind of shirt dress and knee-length boots, which by the way is from Prada, a ID kindly shared with me by Kate. I have a pair of boots that are very similar to these and though they are not from Prada and had a low price compared to Mary's, I adore them. I love to wear them and try to as often as possible. The boots are just great because you can wear them day as night. The shape of the dress suit her really well, especially with the black leather belt. As the blouse it's assumed that the dress is from the French brand BCBG Max Azria (Fall 2011). But with no proof I'm only able to confirm the identity of her bicolor blouse. I think she looks very comfortable wearing this outfit. When she arrived to Lærerstandens Brandforskinrings premises in Copenhagen by one of the royal families crown cars, she was warmly dressed wearing a black Prada coat. She accessorized her outfit with a grey clutch from the Danish brand Quidam. It was found at Quidam by one of the best readers I have, Pernille! So all the classic scandinavian colours in one outfit: black, white and grey. Stylish and edgy, not at all boring. Mary rocked wearing a pair of new Ole Lynggaard earrings featuring a moonstone pendant in the most amazing dusty blue colour! The team of designers and goldsmiths at Ole Lynggard Copenhagen is truly admired by me. Their creativity and craftsmanship are incredible. I love love love their designs and why to use the nature as inspiration. Two of her diamond rings are from the same designer as the earrings. I'm pretty sure she was also wearing the golden Shamballa Jewels bracelet featuring the pink argyle diamond ball which comes from another bracelet made for her years earlier. A really nice outfit I hope we will see one day again.

Danmarks Indsamling 2014: When a Mother is Missing

February, 1st

Every year Danmarks Radio (DR) make a fundraising to support some of the most poor countries in the world. The raised money goes to all kind of projects who all try to give people a better life outside the borders of Denmark. Each year the money are donated to different projects and this year the money from the fundraising were donated to help children who have to live without their mothers.  Which is why the show was given the name When a Mother is Missing. Many children in the developing world are forced to live in extreme poverty in very poor conditions. Many of these children also need to live without their mothers which can have fatal consequences for them as many of them still are too small to live without their mother. Regardless of age we will always need our mother. It is a huge loss for these children, who sometimes have no parents left. They are on their own and way too small to take care of themselves. No one is there to care for them. Worldwide we have many organizations who work to give these children a better life, give them a home and a family. Of course it's not the easiest thing in the world to replace a child's mother or father. Still it's important to give them a safer childhood with the opportunity to feel loved. In situations like this Frederik and Mary always show their support. Through Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary's Foundation they donated DKK 150,000. In total DKK 87,414,404 million (!) were raised to support When a Mother is Missing. That is truly amazing! Well done Denmark. I know your support is important and will be appreciated.

Journalist Anne Bendix Schrøder and photographer Peter Thorsøe from STV Productions followed Mary to Myanmar on her three day visit from January 10-12th, to make a special interview with the Crown Princess. In the two minutes interview Mary point out how important this is to her and why a mothers life is so essential for a child to survive.
