The Mary Foundation celebrates the Crown Princess

23 March

The Mary Foundation was suppose to celebrate their chairwoman on occasion of her 50th birthday end of January, but due to the pandemic, the celebration was given a new date: March 23rd. This is why the Mary Foundation's board and all their collaboration partners were gathered at Moltkes Palace in Copenhagen.

Crown Princess Mary was met by Helle Østergaard, Director of the Mary Fondation, when she arrived to Molthes Palace in the afternoon. Along with many others, Helle Østergaard gave a speech at the birthday arrangement. Here she pointed out what the foundation has achieved the last 15 years. And indeed, they have achieved much and helped so many people in both Denmark, Greenland, the Faroe Islands and even further away crossing european broders.

The Mary Foundation was established in 2007 by initiative by the Crown Princess herself. It became a reality with help from a people's wedding gift from Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Greenland. The 1.1 million Danish Kroner have been a really good investment.

The Crown Princess also gave her own speech. She included the importance of what they have already been able to do with their hard work and what must be worked with in the future.

Mary looked absolutely outstand at the birthday event at Molthes Palace. Her dark green dress is a brand new one custom-made by the talented Danish designer Søren Le Schmidt. He is also the master behind other of her dresses and gowns. One of them is her evening gown worn at the presentation of the Crown Prince Couple's Prizes in 2020 (here). This new green dress has just become my favourite pieces this year. Nothing beats this! The details are magnificent.

She embraced the style with just as amazing accessories. I am sure you noticed her emerald green earrings featuring the beautiful white pearl. They are from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen. The green emerald part is custom-made for her, but the the pearl pendants are available to all of us. She also wore her beloved Cartier bracelet and and old favourite of hers: a diamond ring. I have never been able to identify this pieces, but maybe one day. We get a glimpse of a golden necklace as well. It is from Rebekka Notkin.

A clever hack is wearing nude details with a colourful outfit. Makes it stand out in a very elegant way. This is why I sincerely love her wearing nude Prada pumps and that nude leather handbag from Prada with her new Søren Le Schmidt dress. I want that look right away!

The Media Competition 2022

22 March

"Courage changes the world". This is what competing schools have worked with in the Media Competition for Schools 2022.

The Media Competition for Schools are a project by Politiken, Ekstra Bladet and Jyllands-Posten - three of the leading newspapers in Denmark. The Mary Foundation, Østifterne and Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke are also supporting the event.

When Crown Princess Mary arrived to JP/Politikens Hus, she was in a wonderful mood. She was warmly welcomed by the children participating the competition and the editors from Ekstra Bladet, Jyllands-Posten and Politiken.

The winners had been chose based on the way they have worked with the year theme through originality, communication and its visual expression. Congratulations to all the winners!

Mary was indeed in a great mood. So was her outfit! Personally, I would have preferred a coat but this is a wonderful outfit for the occasion and time a year. The colours and prints are happy and classy. Mary wore a reused white knitted CO blouse with a beloved Valentino skirt. Looks great, right? She has worn the blouse and skirt once before, when Visiting Vibenhus School in 2019 (here). Even the Aquazzura boots are the same.

She embraced the look with some pretty exclusive pieces of jewellery. Like the golden Cartier bangle. It matched her Dulong Fine Jewelry and Rebekka Notkin bracelet with such perfection. Wish I would be able to wear a large bracelet like the one from Rebekka Notkin like Mary does it. The white pearl earrings are still a mystery to me. I am sure you noticed her stunning golden ring as well. It is a design by Dulong Fine Jewelry.

As mentioned before, her knee-length boots are from Aquazzura. I would really like to see her wear these boots so to see them in full length. Not always with midi skirts. Maybe one day. Hugo Boss is the creator of that very fine red leather handbag. We really need to wear handbags like this more often!

A talk about domestic violence

20 March

For quite some years, the Crown Princess has worked along with the Mary Foundation to prevent and help, especially, women in violent relationsship. Domestic violence has become one of the foundation's main projects.

Now the Mary Foundation has made a new population survey in Denmark conducted by VIVE on violence against ones partner. The Crown Princess shared a few words on behalf of the survey. It showed that every fifth Dane is exposed to partner violence at some point throughout their lives. This violence has many negative consequences both for those exposed to it and children - if they are involved in the toxic relationsship.

The survey also showed that even though people around those exposed to domestic violence interfers. we need to change that. The Crown Princess express her sincere desire to share more knowledge about the issue and by that sultions on how to help.

"Everyone have the right to live a life without violence" - Crown Princess Mary

A new photo of Mary was released along with the post on the Mary Foundation's social media (which is the embedded photo below). She looks beautiful. Don't you think? The dark green blouse is lovely next to her fair skin and dark brown hair. It reminds me of something we have seen before, but a the moment I can not figure out which blouse I have in mind. Mary styled it with black trousers.

The golden Dulong Fine Jewelry earrings are a fine accessory with the blouse. Very majestic in an everyday way. Dulong Fine Jewelry is also the talented creator of her feminine necklace. Her collection of these necklaces count a few more than the "Piccolo" collection (here, here, here).

Meeting with DRC Danish Red Cross

15 March

It was as patron of DRC Danish Red Cross that Crown Princess Mary welcomed their Secretary General Charlotte Slente at Frederik VIII's Palace at Amalienborg to a meeting about DRC Danish Red Cross' work in Ukraine at the moment.

Millions of Ukrainians are on the run due to the current situation and the need of help has therefor increased. DRC Danish Red Cross are prensent to offer their help. They work closely with local organizations and the Ukrainian authority.

Charlotte Slente informed the Crown Princess on the situation. She has just returned from Poland and has seen it all with her own eyes. Especially, girls and women are in the lack of protection and safety - something DRC Danish Red Cross are able to provide.

When meeting with Secretary General Charlotte Slente from DRC Danish Red Cross, Mary wore a simple outfit: her dark green Zimmermann blouse and, probably, black trousers. She matched the green blouse with a Dulong Fine Jewelry ring and fine earrings from the same jewellery designer.

Meeting with UNFPA

10 March

The day before, on March 9th, Crown Princess Mary participated a meeting with the World Health Organization - also known as WHO (here). They discussed the current situation in Ukraine.

On Thursday, she met with UNPFA's Country Manager in Afghanistan, Dr. Aleksandar Sasha Bodiroza. Crown Princess Mary has been patron of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) since 2010. The meeting took place at Frederik VIII's Palace at Amalienborg.

Dr. Aleksandar Sasha Bodiroza informed the Crown Princess on the situation of women and girls in Afghanistan following the Taliban's takeover of the country back in August last year. With this takeover followed a special need for extra humanitarian aid in order to support the population's access to, among other things, health facilities.

Crown Princess Mary payed her sincere respect to UNFPA and their work in Afganistan.

Meeting with UNFPA on Thursday, Mary embraced a chic outfit. She wore a brand new bright bluse blouse. It looks so comfortable! I have not yet been able to identify it. Any ideas? The beautiful grey checkered blazer is a reuse from Alexander McQueen. I am not sure the blouse and blazer mixed is a personal favourite on mine, but I love the idea of a "printed" blazer and a simple plain blouse.

We do not get a glimpse of the rest of her outfit. I guess, she could be wearing either black trousers or perhaps the matching ones as worn at the launch of the "State of World Population report 2021" (here).

The stunning glasses are from Gucci. I really like, when Mary is wearing glasses. Looks good on her and then with that simple ponytail. Looks exquisite - just like her golden Cartier bangle. Wish we had a better photo of her outfit. Maybe one day, she will wear it on a more official event.

"Mary & Kronprinsesserne" at Koldinghus

On January 31st, Koldinghus celebrated Crown Princess Mary's 50th birthday with the opening of a new exhibition: "Mary & Kronprinsesserne" (Mary & the Crown Princesesses). I was there, when the Crown Prince Couple arrived to Koldinghus to attended the official opening in Kolding (here). I live nearby. It was such an experience!

Today, I visited the exhibition. Also a lovely experience. Through the exhibition, Crown Princess Mary is telling the stories of Princess Louise, Crown Princess Lovisa, Crown Princess Alexandrine and Crown Princess Ingrid. These "interactive Mary's" is a genius way to make the exhibition more alive, but also a but creepy. It truly feels like she is there, telling us their stories - including her own. I could not help myself from taking lots of photos. Here are some of them.

... and yes, it is indeed crazy to stand just a few feet from her actual clothes!

Meeting with WHO

09 March

Ukraine is on everybody's mind. Hopes and positive thoughts are send their way. On Wednesday, Crown Princess Mary met with the World Health Organization - also known as WHO, to be informed about the current situation. WHO work tirelessly to save lives, ensure medical supplies and make sure that health professionals can carry out their work in and around Ukraine.

Crown Princess Mary shared her deepest respect for the work that WHO are currently doing in Ukraine, in a post on social media.

For some years, the Crown Princess has been patron of WHO Regional Office for Europe. It is in this position she participated the meeting at Amalienborg with representatives from the World Health Organizations.

At the meeting with WHO at Amalienborg, Mary wore a simple outfit. The warm red blazer is an Alexander McQueen design. She matched it with a plain black turtleneck blouse. Guess she could be wearing black trousers as well and maybe matching pointed pumps. We also get a glimpse of her Cartier bracelet and golden Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen earrings.

Mary truly welcomed spring with thi outfit! The duty colours are exquisite and is a perfect way of celebrating that spring has arrived. It is still a bit cold in Denmark, which is also probably why she had chosen her powder pink Reiss turtleneck in wool. Heaven managed to identify this lovely blouse. Mary wore it the first time at the opening of the Day of Research in 2021 (here). Heaven mentioned to me that Mary's grey grey trousers could also be from Reiss and I think she is right. Mary matched the outfit with one of her old grey Massimo Dutti coats.

As simple as her outfits was, were she choices of accessories. The grey suede ankle boots from Prada do look good with the rest of the outfit. Lovely how Mary combined all these different shared of grey. The stunning tanned leather bag is a Prada design. Also a reuse. So is her diamond studs featuring white diamonds surrounding a yellow diamond. We also get a glimpse of a golden Cartier bangle and an old ring. Looks so comfortable!

Exclusive interview with Arnanut

1st March

On occasion of her 50th birthday, Crown Princess Mary gave an exclusive interview with Arnanut (here) - a Greenlandic magazine. The interview included her first visit in Greenland and the family's close relation to the country.

Crown Princess Mary also spoke about her official work trying to help those who need a voice in society. With the Mary Foundation, she is doing a great job in Greenland. "Free of Bullying" is one of the projects introduced in Greenland, such as projects dealing with domestic violence.

You can read a small part of the interview here. I love how she makes it clear that she look forward to the future and what I brings. Seeing her children grow up, for them to create their own families and to grow old with her husband.

The photo by Stine Heilmann was used on a new postal stamp published by the Greenlandic telecommunications and postal company Tusass. It was posted along with the news about the interview.

Here are your all time favourite outfits!

First we go back to May 13th 2004. The day before the big wedding. Here the couple attended a pre-wedding gala concert at the Royal Theatre. At that time, her name was still Mary Elizabeth Donaldson and this Australian-born women stunned the world wearing a bright red gown. It was tailored by Birgit Hallstein and designed in collaboration with Uffe Frank. The story goes that Crown Prince Frederik picked the colour because he liked it on her. She styled the outfit with Queen Ingrid's red ruby parure and matching pointed sequin pumps.

Your second favourite outfit of Crown Princess Mary's is the one she wore the evening before Willem Alexander of the Netherlands became King on April 29th 2013. This magnificent power pink evening gown was (also) created by Danish tailor Birgit Hallstein - probably in collaboration with the Crown Princess. She embraced the exquisite gown with her wedding tiara and wedding earrings designed by Dulong Fine Jewelry. They are her morning present from Crown Prince Frederik. The beautiful Bottega Veneta clutch and Prada satin pumps are a perfect (and stunning) match.

One more of her gala outfits were added to the list of favourite looks. This one was worn on January 4th 2013 at a New Year reception at Christiansborg. Her outstanding powder pink tulle skirt, is a creation by Jesper Høvring. She designed quite a few of her gowns. The brown velvet jacket has never been identified.  Crown Princess Mary styled her tulle skirt and jacket with matching brown earrings and a Naledi Copenhagen ostrich clutch. Another pink accessory is that Shamballa Jewels bracelet. What you do not see on the photo is that she was also wearing a few of her red ruby parure hairpins.

Now we are back in 2019. Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden were on an official visit in Denmark and Crown Princess Mary looked absolutely great in her light grey Max Mara suit. A very minimalistic outfit. Something we rarely see. She accessorized this fine look with an Nadia Shelbaya necklace, a black Carlend Copenhagen clutch and some pretty cool pointed pumps from Gianvito Rossi. The Crown Princess also embraced the style with golden Sophie Bille Brahe earrings and a Cartier bracelet. The beautiful diamond ring is a Dulong Fine Jewelry masterpiece.

Your last favourite outfit of hers are not that old. It was when we celebrated Queen Margrethe on her 80th birthday last year. Crown Princess Mary looked wonderful in a Beulah London dress and perfectly matching accessories. A couple of Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen bracelets, Dulong Fine Jewelry earrings and once again the Nadia Shelbaya necklace. Her other golden bracelets are creations from Rebakka Notkin and Cartier. Many of them have been favourites of hers the last couple of years. Everybody's eyes were on her colourful embroidered clutch. This was handmade by Queen Margrethe herself. She topped of her outfit with Gianvito Rossi pumps and an Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen diamond ring.
