A visit from Cambridge

23 February

Something I know many of you have been waiting for with great excitement took place this Wednesday. The Duchess of Cambridge, Catherine, paid a visit to Copenhagen. She was friendly welcomed by Queen Margrethe and Crown Princess Mary around noon with an official welcoming ceremony at Christian IX's Palace at Amalienborg. The three of them already had a lovely time, when meeting the journalists and photographers.

After the welcoming ceremony, the Duchess enjoyed lunch at Frederik VIII's Palace at Amalienborg with Crown Princess Mary as hostess. They surprised people at the Amalieborg Square, because they took the walk from Christian IX's Palace to Frederik VIII's Palace by foot. I guess the two of them had a great lunch with smalltalk and wonderful food.

Afterwards, the Duchess and the Crown Princess accompanied each other and visited Danner Crisis Center along with the Mary Foundation. The Duchess of Cambridge was introduced to the Mary Foundations program and projects for children at crisis centers. As part of the introductions, she was also getting to know about the Mary Foundations special backpacks. The contain "everything" a child would need arriving to a crisis center and are given to more than 2,000 children every year. These children often arrive to the centers without the most basic things like toothbrushes, school stuff, etc.

I was not disappointed, when I saw that Mary was wearing and copy-cat-outfit - if that is even a word, but it covers what she was wearing. Because the outfit was indeed reused. More than once, did Mary wear this lovely white tweed coat matched with a simple black dress. It looks so comfortable, right? Wish I had a coat like that. It goes way back and has even changed over time. Unfortunately, I have never been able to identify where it is from, but with the knowledge that she added it to her wardrobe early on, I guess it could be tailored. Much of clothes was back then. The black dress is also a mystery.

Mary accessorized her fine look with white pearl earrings from Dulong Fine Jewelry. These has to be her all-time favourite earrings of them all. The matching ring was added later, but is from the same talented creator. A close look reveal that she was also wearing an Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen diamond band along with her engagement ring.

The black leather clutch from Diane von Furstenberg was a beautiful addition to the rest of the outfit. Although, I would have loved a more colourfull bag or clutch. She stunned wearing black tights, Gianvito Rossy pointed pumps and a black scarf.

  1. La princesse héritière a une élégance inégalée! On ne voit pas de différence d'âge marquée entre les deux femmes.
