"DR Girls' Choir in the Dark"

October 06, 2025

Queen Mary was warmly welcomed by Kim Bohr, director of the DR Concert House, DR's Choir and Orchestras and Anne Karine Prip, artistic director of the DR's Girls' Choir, when she arrived at DR Concert House in Copenhagen. A singer from the choir was also there to welcomed the choir's patron. The Queen as been patron of the choir since 2011.

On Monday evening guests could enjoy a magical evening in the company of DR's Girls' Choir and their concert "DR Girls' Choir in the Dark".

After the concert the Queen has the opportunity to meet the choir, musicians and the conductor, and congratulate them on a wonderful concert.

An all black outfit is rarely my thing. I think its way too dark - and a bit boring but Mary nailed it at the concert Monday evening! She rocked a reused black Paul Smith suit (once worn by Princess Isabella) and a brand new lace blouse from Róhe. The blouse changed my mind. Her outfit went from bull to super classy.

Mary styled the Paul Smith suit with simple pointed black pumps from Gianvito Rossi. She was worn then on many different occasions. The braided Bottega Venete clutch has also been in her wardrobe for quite a few years but it's not her most worn clutch.

As jewellery she had chosen exclusive diamond earrings custom-made by Dulong Fine Jewelry. The golden leaf ring from I'm Jewel also goes some years back. I kinda missed it. She paired it with an beloved diamond ring from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen.

Dinner for the Army Badge of Honor

26 September

What a night. Crown Princess Mary was invited to attend a very special dinner at Fredensborg hosted by her mother-in-law, Queen Margrethe. The Army Badge of Honor dinner is to honor and reward those form the made an extraordinary serviced in the Danish army. Guest from the Army, Navy and the Air Force were invited to the prestiges dinner.

The Army Badge of Honor medal is given to people, who served the army for 25 years. It was first given in 1945 on King Christian X's birthday and has been an annual tradition since then, but the dinner only takes place every third year.

We got a short glimpse of the Crown Princess, when she arrived to Fredensborg to attend the dinner for the Army Badge of Honor. She was just smiles and looked liked she was looking forward to spend an evening with good food, good company and maybe some good music.

KongehusetKongehusetBilled Bladet

As said, we only got a short and little glimpse of Mary at the arrival to Fredensborg. Nevertheless, that was just enough to see what she was wearing. Due to who was invited, Mary had chosen to wear a very special gown. The Armed Forces' uniform for women. It was designed a few of years ago. At that time, Mary also wore it for the first time, when attending the previous Army Badge of Honoray dinner (here). The dress (or uniform) is indeed beautiful. Just look at the silhouette, the neckline and the blazer-like-jacket.

Mary embraced the style by wearing two sets of earrings from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen. The mixed and matched two pairs of earrings and pendants. One golden and one silver. What a clever detail, don't you think? I like it. She also wore some golden rings. Her one ring is from I'm Jewel and the other one is a rather new ring from Dulong Fine Jewelry. The black clutch is a reuse, as I think her black pointed pumps are, but I have never been able to identify it.

I love that she is finally having these amazing hairstyles again. Her hair is really long and stunning, and it takes updo's as these. I love it!

Day 3. Official state visit from Japan

Sunday, June 18th

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended dinner along with Crown Prince Naruhito at Fredensborg castle with Queen Margrethe as hostess.

To make everything clear, this is the fourth day of Crown Prince Naruhito visiting Denmark on occasion of the 150th anniversary the Danish-Japanese diplomatic relations, but it is only the third time we are in the company of the Crown Princess. This is the reason why I mentioning this as day 3. So, are we clear? Great!

Around noon, the Japanese Crown Prince was invited to dinner at Fredensborg castle with Queen Margrethe as hostess. Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary also attended the dinner. Crown Prince Naruhito was warmly welcomed by all three members of the Danish royal family when he arrived to Fredensborg. Before all four of them was ready to enjoy some lunch together, pictures were taken in front of the castle. The Japanese Crown Prince started the day on his own by visiting the cisterns at Frederiksberg, Copenhagen. From what I see, he was one big smile all day.

No doubt that we have seen so many splendid outfit already during the official state visit from Japan. What she wore at the dinner at Fredensborg castle was just a great. Mary showed up wearing a brand new green floral printed outfit, which turned out to be a blouse and matching skirt. Heaven is the one to thanks for knowing the designer behind this beautiful outfit. Ganni is where to find it. I'm crazy in love with the colour; looks just magnificent. I really hope to see these two new piece again, maybe the blouse with a pencil skirt or white trousers? Seems like Mary is very fun of golden jewellery right now because once again, she had accessorized the outfit with golden Dulong Fine Jewelry earrings, her Orit Elhanati necklace and that lovely golden leaves I'm Jewel ring. Makes a really good combo with the new set and the bright red (or perhaps coral?) nail polish. And the fact that she was wearing brown suede Gianvito Rossi pumps makes everything even more stunning. Green and brown makes a smashing match! I would so much like to see a close up on her hairstyle because it looks great at front. Love to try something similar myself.

Copenhagen Fashion Week 2015

Thursday, August 6th

Crown Princess Mary attended the annual Copenhagen Fashion Week 2015 in Copenhagen.

Worldroyalfamily.blogspot.com

Finally, it is time for Copenhagen Fashion Week 2015! Something I look forward to each year. Unfortunately the fashion week is always at the same time as I'm on vacation. The same happened this year. All the great things happen when I not around. The fashion week is one of my personal favourite events because of the stylish and modern outfits we always see. I think we see a different site of the Crown Princess' style. All of us who follow the latest fashion, just a little bit, know that the world of fashion changes fast and what we see on the runway is often not something we would wear. It's only for inspiration: take what you like and style it the way you love. But the Crown Princess always captures the latest trend from the Danish fashion world with her one single outfit. Back in time she attended much more shows than she does today. Now she only appear at the event a couple of times. This year she attended several shows. One of them was at Malene Birger, which she attended with her friend, actress Ellen Hillingsø.

There are so many details and components to look at with this outfit from clothes to jewellery. I'm not sure where to begin. Black may not be the right colour to wear when it's warm outside, but her new floor length skirt and matching top are made of different fabrics and the shear parts makes it less warm. Mary attended a Malene Birger show, so it does not surprise me that her layer skirt has been found at By Malene Birger. Here I want to thanks all of you who shared the ID with me. Apparently, the blouse is from the same designer. So far I haven't been able to prove. No one like Mary wears a black outfits with such elegance. The combination of the layer skirt and the sleeveless blouse is just great. At the arrival, accompanied by actress Ellen Hillingsø, she wore Dolce & Gabbana shades. I love the fact that she's wearing shades and to an outfit like this. Not something you see many royal's do.

I was very surprised to see that she had no clutch with her at the event in Copenhagen. She always wear some kind of clutch or bag. I miss one, but when I look at all the other stunning jewellery she added to her stylish outfit, I do not complain. Both new and reused pieces. No earrings but a rather large new necklace in a beautiful shape. The style of it is classic Danish design from the 60s and 70s such as the new cuff on her left wrist. Modern jewellery with a touch of vintage/retro from By Malene Birger (Pre-Spring 2016). When I'm talking about vintage and retro 60s I need to mention she's wearing the most trendy colour when it comes to nail polish -every women's favourite in the 60s. I almost forgot to mention the golden Orit Elhanati necklace. On the other arm she wore several different Anni Lu and Charlotte Wæhrens bracelets and two rings from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen. Once, on November 21 2011 in Australia, we have seen her wear the amazing t-bar sandals from Christian Louboutin. It took quite some years to find the right model, but Pernille who is a friend of mine, finally found the right one. So now we know for sure that Louboutin is the designer. I am absolutely in love with this look!

Summer photocall at Gråsten Castle

Saturday, July 25th

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended the annual summer photocall at Gråsten Castle with all four children.

The day I have been waiting for, for a long time, is finally here -the annual summer photocall of the royal family who's on vacation at Gråsten Castle in South of Jutland. Yesterday I expressed that I I hoped to see Prince Joachim and Princess Marie with their children, but I assume that they are on holiday somewhere else because they did not appear today. The daughter of Princess Benedikte, Princess Alexandra, and her husband Count Jefferson, as well as her two children Count Richard and Countess Ingrid also stay at Gråsten these days along with the rest of the family. The weather is pretty bad in Denmark these days and the family also had to postpone the meeting with the press because of the rain. But I am optimistic, rainy days are also beautiful. The weather certainly had not ruined the mood of the royal family. The children had so fun and the adults seemed to have had a great time as well.

The first thing I noticed when I saw the first pictures from today, is that everyone was dressed in matching colours. All of them embraced orange, blue, pink and white. If I were you, I'd take a second look at the pictures where we see all of them. Princess Josephine, with her broken arm, was dressed in a orange and green Poppy Rose dress, here, which was identified by Kate and Lurdes. Her hair was in a sweet french side braid, Princess Isabella had a similar hairstyle. If you like it as much as I do, I have found this guide to you. Have fun! When we talk about this wonderful young lady -Princess Isabella, she was in a fantastic white lace dress from Little Remix, here, also identified by Kate. She was also the one who found out that Prince Vincent is wearing a Pili Carrera shirt, here.

I love that Frederik and Mary were wearing similar colours -white and navy blue. I know that some of you had a wish, to see her in a short dress today. I was actually hoping for something long because Mary looks so great in maxi dresses or as in this case, skits. It's not the first time at the annual summer photocall she's wearing maxi-clothes. Last year, she was in a maxi-dress by Ganni, here, and in 2012 in a dress from Free People, here. Today she was dressed in a By Malene Birger maxi skirt identified by Reines & Princesses. Zara is the designer of her new white lace blouse identified by Kate. Funny thing: it was much easier to find the kids clothes then Mary's this time. She embrace the casual look with a few jewellery. Two of the three necklaces are from Orit Elhanati and Marianne Dulong. The silver necklace with the pendant could be a gift from when she visited Ethiopia in February. Her silver diamond ring is from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen and the golden one is from I'm Jewel. The bracelets are from, among others, Anni Lu. She topped of the outfit with black ballet flats, a simple hairstyle and natural makeup.

* Dailymail.co.uk

At the last day in South Africa, Johannesburg, the Crown Princess attended a meeting with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) as the first thing in the morning. A couple of hours later, she and Minster of Trade and Development Mogens Jensen payed a visit to the Vodocom Gender Based Violence Command Centre. Both were kindly welcomed to the centre. Here they were given a guided tour around the center facilities, to see what the place has to offer. Their guide also told about how the centre has been able to help others. Stories were told and experiences were shared. As the last event on her official visit to South Africa was a visit at the Thuthuzela Clinic. Though Mary was guest of honor during the last day before leaving Johannesburg, she was very humble and only asked when it had something to do with what she was told or shown. It is clear obvious that Mary was truly touched by the many stories people shared with her. Impression's I am sure will stay in her mind for quite a while and be present again when she is back in Denmark, during her work.

Do not think we have ever seen Mary wear any inappropriate outfit, nor did she the last day in South Africa. She was wearing her floral Dolce & Gabbana skirt, a white Hugo Boss blouse and beige patent leather pumps from Jimmy Choo. The multicoloured earrings are a Marianne Dulong design, as the golden necklace is from Orit Elhanati. Mary then wore a golden leaf ring from I'm Jewel. Feminine, aesthetic and polished.

It was been a please to share these posts from her stay in both Cape Town and Johannesburg. Just makes me so proud having a Crown Princess like Mary who have dedicated her work to help those who need it most.

Day 2. Visiting South Africa

Monday, November 3rd

Accompanied by Minister of Trade and Development Mogens Jensen, is Crown Princess Mary visiting South Africa from November 2-5th, focusing on sexual- and reproductive health and rights such as the collaboration between South Africa and Denmark.

Program: Cape Town
  • 9:00 am. Crown Princess Mary visited the Marie Stopes clinic.
  • 2:30 pm. Crown Princess Mary visited the Mothers2Mothers clinic.
  • 4:00 pm. The Crown Princess payed a visit to the Love Life Youth Centre
  • 7:00 pm. Crown Princess Mary attended the Danish Design Business Mission networking reception.

Crown Princess Mary visiting the Marie Stopes, Mothers2Mothers and Love Life Youth Centre

Mary began her day early because at 9:00 am. she arrived to the Marie Stopes clinic followed by a visit to the Mothers2Mothers clinic. The Crown Princess was in a splendid mood, something you will see if you take a look at all the amazing pictures of her from the second day in South Africa. Though she is on this official visit to focus on serious topics such as healthcare and sexual rights; it is done with a warmth and sincerity. It is like she makes everyone feel comfortable in their own skin, with nothing else than her presence. Also something you have noticed? And when you do not think it can't get any better, it gets better! Because when she visited the Love Life Youth Centre we saw her smile, laugh and even dance. Made my day a *** lot better to watch that. Judging by everything I have seen so far, Mary really really enjoy herself yesterday!

When it come to clothes; Africa means colourful pattern and prints. Multi colour maxi skirts and dresses, lots of jewellery and everything that is just too laud to wear in Denmark. Time for Mary to wear printed dressed and that is exactly what she did. During her second day in Cape Town she was dressed in a reused dress from the Spanish designer Massimo Dutti worn with a brown leather belt and a pair of matching pumps. The shoes are old and used a several previous occasions. First I heard something about Christian Louboutin, but I doubt. I still do not have the right answer to reply your question on who the designer really is, though I have a strong feeling they are from Jimmy Choo. Take a look at the one I have found down below and tell me what's on your mind. Have I found the right one already? Or do I have to keep looking. The combination with this dress and those Louise Grønlykke earrings is not new. As she wore the golden Shamballa Jewels bracelet, she had chosen her Orit Elhanati necklace and Marianne Dulong bracelet one more time. I was a bit surprised to see that golden leaf ring again. It is from I'm Jewel and one of her reused rings. Another wonderful outfit that makes me think I need a similar dress and a pair of brown look-a-like pumps.

Crown Princess Mary attending Danish Design Business Mission networking reception

But her day does not end here. In the evening, around 7:00 pm, Crown Princess Mary arrived to attend a networking reception entitled Danish Design Business Mission. Here multiple Danish brands and Danish companies were given time to show and tell much more about themselves; what they do, how they work, what design it to them and much more. She was accompanied, once again, by Minister of Trade and Development Mogens Jensen, who really seems to enjoy the Crown Princess company as much as she does his. Maybe it is worth mentioning that she attended the network reception only about an hour after she had visited the Love Life Youth Centre. She is indeed a popular women.

At the reception she had changed to something a bit more 'evening appropriate', namely a white blouse featuring no sleeves and some kind of lace detail at front matched with a brand new maxi skirt in the most stunning colours! My reader Kate is the one to inform me who created this new skirt, Giambattista Valli did. It turns out that Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway has a jacket with the exact same print, here. For me, the print works best on a skirt. But who do you think wore it better? A print you would consider wearing? Mary had accessorized her casual evening outfit with a golden laser cut bracelet from Jewlscph and rather large golden earrings from the same designer. the bracelet has been seen once before on a official visit with Frederik to Rio de Janeiro in 2012, here. Do you recall having seen it before? As earlier she also wore her I'm Jewel ring, bracelets from  Marianne Dulong and  Shamballa Jewels. I tend to say, of course, she was wearing golden pumps with this outfit. She wore the same the day before and as I told you, I believe they are from Pura Lopez without it has been confirmed. Make-up and hair were perfect as always. With my eyes all over that skirt, I almost forgot to tell you about the clutch, but I'm pretty sure the remember it. It's her beige Naledi Copenhagen clutch.

Goodby to Ove Ullerup

Wednesday, August 20th

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Prince Mary attended a farewell reception for Ove Ullerup, now the previous Lord Chamberlain, which took place at the Alexander Hall at Christiansborg castle. Other than the Crown Prince couple, also Prince Joachim, Princess Marie, Countess Alexandra, Prince Nikolai and his brother Prince Felix attended.

Bt.dk

In 2003, about the same time Mary came to Denmark, Ove Ullerup became the new Lord Chamberlain for the Danish royal family. This is now 11 years ago and Mr. Ullerup has decided to retire and leave the job for someone else. Because of his retirement a reception was held at the Alexander Hall at Christiansborg castle where several guests were invited. From the royal family Prince Joachim, Princess Mary, Countess Alexandra, Prince Nikolai, his brother Prince Felix and of course the Crown Prince couple attended the reception. I'm pretty sure it must have been great to see so many people for Ove and his wife, but also a sad day when he has to say goodbye to many of the people he has shared every day with the last 11 years. I wish Ove Ullerup and his wife all the best in the future. He has been doing a great job and I think he will be missed.

Wauw, much is going on with this outfit! For us to see her wear pink really does not happen very often. As a huge fan of pink (and Mary) I love this new SAND Copenhagen blouse. The floral print is so feminine and elegant and with the pink hemline, the blouse makes a great statement piece. I like how she matched this new blouse with a plain black JOSEPH skirt and of course the fact that she's also wearing bright pink pumps! The first time we saw these pink pointed pumps was when Mary visited Germany, here, along with Princess Benedikte. At that time I was not able to ID them. I suggested either Christian Louboutin or Prada. Seeing them once again I tend to say Prada, but I still do not have any proof. Then I noticed a pair of white and golden floral earrings, not new nor identified, but I have always been completely in love with them! Unfortunately I think they... vanish because of the printed blouse. Am I the only one having that thought? Embracing the style she also wore a golden ring from I'm Jewel and one of her black clutches, this one is from Carlend Copenhagen. So what do you think? I can't wait to hear what you think about her outfit.

The Final Eurovision Song Contest 2014

Saturday, May 10th

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended the final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen.

Bt.dk

The grand final is here! And what better why than celebration Denmark as the host country of the Eurovision Song Contest to invite the Crown Prince Couple. Only two days ago, on May 8th, attended Mary along with Prince Christian and Princess Isabella the second semi-final of the contest which took place in Copenhagen like the grand finale did two days later. Prominent guests arrived one by one to watch the long-awaited final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 hosted by Denmark this year because Emilie de Forest won with her song Only Teardrops last year. The Danes haven't been talking about anything else for the last couple of weeks and it is suppose to be a major show with incredible special-effects. As some of the last ones, arrived Frederik and Mary both in an excellent mood. Laughing, joking and clearly ready to enjoy the evening together watching the finale live. And from the pictures I have seen I believe they both had a wonderful night, celebrating Austria when they won. Which of course deserves a congratulations from me!

Like the show was predicted to be this amazing show, something no one has every seen before I have to admit that I have been looking so much forward to see what Mary would be wearing at an evening like this. I do not think she has ever attended something similar before. My expectation was major! And I differently wasn't disappointed. A truly remarkable outfit she wore at the contest. With an outfit like this, Mary showed how to represent a small country like Denmark. She litteraly brightened up the room in her brand new kimono found at Rabens Saloner. She radiated like no one else! The kimono features the most incredible embroidered details, fringes and colourful rhinestones. I'm so fascinated. What is not to love about it?! She perfectly matched it with a simple black dress and her ostrich clutch from Jayson Brunsdon. With all these accessories I would feel way overdressed but Mary makes it work -as always. It's not too much at all. Her eye makeup was flawless and her hair was just smashing. Curly hair makes her look so beautiful, especially because of the huge Amrita Singh earrings you really noticed how stunning her hair is. Golden as the details on the kimono she added golden jewelleries from both Marianne Dulong, Shamballa Jewels and I’m Jewel. Wauw there are so many things to look at. I can't stop staring. And those shoes?! -glitter leopard pumps from Gianvito Rossi (Pre AW12). This is one fashionable outfit.

Save a Mother's Life at Mother's Day / Red en Mors liv på Mors Dag

Monday, April 28th
Photo @Agnés Colbert
Crown Princess Mary attended this years Save a Mothers Life at Mothers Day organized by the Maternity Foundation in Copenhagen.

The Maternity Foundation
In 2005 is the Maternity Foundation established by Henriette Svarre Nielsen, M.D. in Obstetrics and Gynocology along with five other women. With the vision that "No women should die giving life", the foundation aims to reduce maternal and newborn mortality in developing countries where more than 800 women die every day from complications of pregnancies and childbirth. Since 2010 has Crown Princess Mary been patron of the Maternity Foundation. You find more info about the fund and their work here

Save a Mothers Life at Mothers Day / Red en Mors liv på Mors Dag
... has since 2007 been the Maternity Foundation's way of celebration Mother's Day which supports the foundations vision of no women should die giving birth. Despite the great effort on the area, over 800 women are still dying each day from complications of pregnancies and childbirth. Read more about how to support the foundation and their work, here.

To be able to launch a new project is something really big also for a foundation as the Maternity Foundation and this was exactly what they did on Monday April 28th. The foundation launched Save a Mothers Life at Mothers Day (Red en Mors liv på Mors Dag) campaign with attendance of Crown Princess Mary who have been the fund's patron since 2010. Is there a better way of celebrating something that is in favor of women and children which is exactly what you are working for, than inviting the Crown Princess? -No I do not believe so. So both a Crown Princess and patron attended Mary the launching which took place in Danish Design Center, Copenhagen. The campaign allows you as a private person to support the foundation's work by purchasing a special designed Mother's Day card, this year designed by artist Anika Lori. As keynote speaker entered Mary the stage and gave, as usual, an impressive speech on why this is so important not just to her but also the women living in development countries. This year the campaign is especially necessary as the countdown to achieve the UN goal of reducing maternal mortality by three quarters by 2015. Despite we will in the 21st century, 800 women still die of complication from pregnancies and childbirths which could have been prevented if they have had some educated help. I'm sure we will hear much more about all this in the near future because of Mary's commitment to girls and women's health, rights and well-being.

Darker colours are always a perfect match to golden accessories. No doubt about that. What I really like about this look is how she managed to build up an outfit from the dress. Doesn't that green colour just suit her well? I think it makes the best out of her fair skin and lovely dark brown hair. Kate managed to identify her dress as Prada.

Drawing attention to her rather small waistline, she wore a three layer golden necklace I have really been looking forward to tell you about. It is from the Danish jewellery designer Jane Kønig and features three different necklaces. The longest and mid necklace features one pendant each and the last one have two smaller pentanes. Now you may have guessed it. But each golden pendants are engraved with each their own letter: C(hrisitan), I(sabella), V(incent) and J(osephine). Yes, you are right. One for each of her children. Isn't that cute?! I just love it. Same style as the necklace Mary wore several bracelets; two of them from Shamballa Jewels and Georg Jensen. Actually she was wearing quite a lot jewelleries, also Marlene Juhl-Jørgensen earrings and a stunning leaves rings created by I'm Jewel. Everything we have seen before, but not like this.

We also got to see her incredible Christian Louboutin pumps again, maybe not the best match with the dress? Or then, it's really quite nice. To carry her speech and what else she brings with her, Mary added her brown croco clutch from Danish Carlend Copenhagen. A style I could get use to! A powerful and stylish look but yet still casual. No, really I do not know who she do it.
