The Women's Home and an officers dinner

11 September

Crown Princess Mary payed a special visit to The Women's Home (Kvindehjemmet) at Jagtvej along with the Mary Foundation on Wednesday. The Women's Home is Denmark's largest women's shelter. During her visit she met with both former and present residents of the home with whom she talked about backpacks. More specifically backpacks given to all children who live with their mother and possible siblings at the shelter. These backpacks are part of a Mary Foundation project and are given to children in both Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands.

A quote from the Mary Foundations Facebook post (embedded down below) says that the backpacks helps children to know that they are seen, heard and taken serious. The Crown Princess also talked with employees working at the shelter. Among others, they told her that they use the backpacks and its contents to help children describe and puts words on feelings related to violent experiences. The Royal House has now published a short interview with the Crown Princess and one of the employee, here.

According to the official calendar Crown Princess was suppose to attend a dinner at Fredensborg Castle the previous evening hosted Queen Margrethe. The dinner was held for officers at Dannebrog as a way of thanking them for another year of sailing. But not pictures have been published.

Visiting The Women's Home at Jagtevej Mary was dressed in a lovely reused outfit. She matched her light blue blouse from Victoria Beckham with a black pleated skirt. The skirt is also a reuse, but I have never managed to identify where it is from. This time I noticed that it features small dots. Maybe that will help us identifying it. Keep your eyes open and let me know if you see or hear anything about her skirt.

To match the chic outfit she chose to wear her black leather pumps from Valentino featuring rivets. A classy pump with a touch of rock and roll. The blue earrings and matching ring are both from Pomellato. They go way back in time, just as the diamond ring from Dulong Fine Jewelry. The same designer made one of her golden bangles. She also wore her Cartier bracelet in shiny gold and her Nadia Shelbaya necklace.

I also noticed how beautiful her hair looks. I love when she wears curly hair. Makes her look young and fresh (if that's the right word to use). Love how Mary made this outfit look so casual. Whenever I am wearing pleated skirts and soft blouses, I tend to look a bit overdressed. But not Mary.

    1. Indeed she is. The Crown Princess always look and feel her best - at least that is how she present herself. I would love to be so comfortable in my own skin as she is.

  2. The backpacks sound like a wonderful idea, I very much hope that they encourage the children to express themselves. I love this Victoria Beckham piece, it's such a fresh and versatile staple.  The twisted neckline and soft drape are so feminine, while the fluted sleeves add a slight edge: it sits perfectly under belted skirts. If my memory serves me correctly, it's been styled with three, each were equally successful. Today's look is a re-run with different statement jewellery, I believe Dulong pearls were worn last time. The black pleated skirt has shiny small polka dots which are clustered neatly together, the base fabric appears matte so there is a subtle sheen of glittery dots when the light hits the fabric. It's wonderfully elegant and I would imagine looks graceful in motion. The black belt with it's gold trimmings adds a little interest at the waist, breaks up the solid colour and coordinates flawlessly with her beautiful gold jewellery. The Pomellato set is ideal, it complements the blouse, the earrings float above the sea of blue and stand out against her dark hair. The Crown Princess looks faultless, it's a stunning ensemble which women can try and emulate.
