31 August
Yesterday was a big day for the daughter of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway. She celebrated her confirmation in the castle chapel at the Royal Palace in Oslo.
Friends and family from near and far were invited to celebrate the day with her. Also the Danish Crown Prince couple and their oldest son Prince Christian were invited to the ceremony and following lunch. Crown Prince Frederik is the godfather of Princess Ingrid Alexandra. As her godfather, he participated in a very special part of the confirmation - he lit a candle for her with her other godparents (Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, Princess Märtha Louise of Norway, King Felipe of Spain, Kong Harald of Norway and Marit Tjessem).
A confirmation is a significant day in most young peoples life. It is the day where to confirm the promises that were made at the christening. It takes place as a special church service each year around the age of 13-15. The ceremony is not quite the same in each country. In Denmark for instance we do not lit a candle confirmed children, but it is a beautiful tradition. Let us congratulate the Princess on behalf of her confirmation!

Meanwhile both Princess Ingrid Alexandra and the rest of her family where dressed in traditional norwegian dresses and suits, the Danish royals were dressed in their best outfits. Crown Prince Frederik looked perfect in a black uniform and his son was indeed handsome wearing a black and white suit.
Mary had chosen a lovely floral printed dress from Zimmermann. She has worn it once before while staying in South Korea on an official visit in May this year, here. I loved it right away and I still do. Mary looks so beautiful wearing that floral dream. Attending the confirmation of Princess Ingrid Alexandra she embraced the style with a brand new headpiece. The correct name of the style I do not know. So please enlightened me. What I know is that it is all new; features a flower and it is made of something that looks like purple straw. Let me know if you know where to find this new pieces.
The colorpalet was differently power pink and purple, mixed with a little suede and satin. She wore her old Cenius & Bach earrings with purple pendants. As other jewellery I see a diamond ring from Dulong Fine Jewelry, who also designed one of her bracelets. The other golden bangle is from Cartier. Many of you noticed the purple satin clutch. Despite most of you think it is new - it's not. It goes back to around 2008 when visiting Bulgaria on an official visit, here. She last wore the clutch at an event in 2014, here.
I haven't had a good look at her shoes, but to me it looks like she was wearing a pair of Gianvito Rossi suede pumps. They tricked me many times because the color is difficult - white, but not completely white. Believe these are the same pumps, here.

Congratulations to Princess Ingrid! It looks like a splendid day. Looking closely at the stock photo of the dress there is mauve in the print so the headpiece, clutch and earrings coordinate perfectly in colour. However, I am not sure if soft rose accessories to match the bolder pink would have fared better overall. I appreciate that in person the mauve may have looked subtle and elegant. I adore this Zimmermann piece, it's so romantic with it's delicate print and feminine details, it's a beautiful eyelet dress and a joy to see repeated. It has only been worn for important events so the Crown Princess may want to keep it for special occasions, but I think it could be quite a versatile piece and look equally lovely styled less formally with sandals, a braided loose updo and cross body bag.
ReplyDeleteIt is one very bold combination of color and print the Crown Princess is wearing at the confirmation, but I actually think she is doing a great job. She works with colors and prints on a daily basis and has become really good at it. I admire her for the courage to do so. That is one of the reasons why she is my biggest source of inspiration.
Delete... and I am sure this is not the last time we are going to see her in that Zimmermann dress ;)
Oh these are delightful photos. What a wonderful day for Princess Ingrid. She looked beautiful
