Flag Day 2020

5th September

For eleven years September the 5th has been the official day of honoring the Denmark's emissaries. The Flag Day is all about honoring the people who are or have been sent on a mission abroad by Denmark. It is also a day to recognize the professional efforts that our emissaries make in some of the world's most conflicted areas.

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary have both participated the Flag Day for mange years now. I think it is a wonderful way for them to show support to those we lost in combat; those who are right in the middle of war areas and for their families at home.

On Saturday, the Crown Prince Couple arrived to Kastellet in Copenhagen to honor those soldiers, who have died in war. The atmosphere was clearly affected by the reason why people were gathered. It even rained at the ceremony. Denmark's Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen held a speech capturing the essens of the meaning of why Flag Day is so important.

The couple also placed a wreath at the Monoment for Denmark's International Effort since 1948 located at Kastellet. Several other official institutions also paid their respect with a wreath. The Government, the police and Danish Veterans were amongst those who placed wreath's.

Later on, the Crown Prince Couple attended a service at Holmens Church.

At the ceremony at Kastellet and later on at the service in Holmens Church Mary had chosen a lovely new blue dress and matched it with black and blue accessories. I know the day is all about something completely different and way more important, but I know you. You know who to separate things. You know what is important.

The beautiful new dress (what I first thought was a midi coat) is created by the Danish designer, Søren Le Schmidt. He is also the talented creator of Mary's New Year's Eve gown back in 2018, here, and her award-winning dress from 2019, here. I guess it was a proud designer, who shared a photo on Instagram of the Crown Princess wearing his dress. Think it has a certain 40s vibe. Actually, her entire look has a vintage feeling.

She embraced the style by wearing a black hat featuring a feather and a small veil. From my knowledge, it is an Susanne Juul hat. Mary has worn it quite a few times now. With and without the veil. Even without the little black feather made of felt. The other small feather-like-thing is newly added. To match the hat she wore suede pumps from Jimmy Choo. Those with a chunky heel. Fashionable as she is, Mary topped of her look with leather gloves and one of her old Carlend Copenhagen clutches. All in black. When attending the church service Mary changed to a pair of black pointed leather pumps from Gianvito Rossi.

At the ceremony, I see a couple of jewellery. The beautiful golden bracelet is from Dulong Fine Jewelry and the matching diamond ring is an Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen design. Both stunning pieces of jewellery. The diamond earrings, which also features a slightly larger yellow diamond, have never been identified. I tried but so far, I do not know who made them.

The oval shaped aquamarine blue stone, surround by diamonds and white pearls, is her Connaught Sapphire brooch. Mary inherited it from her mother-in-law at the birth of her firstborn, Prince Christian. It belonged to Queen Margrethe's mother Queen Ingrid, who got it from her mother, Crown Princess Margareta. Apparently, it was given to her as a wedding gift.

"The BLOX - Built Back Better Summit "

1st September

Another wonderful day. First the Crown Princess participated in a guided tour around the BLOX facilities.

Then she attended the opening of "The BLOX - Built Back Better Summit". Here she was warmly welcomed by CEO of Realdania, Jesper Nygård and Chairman of the Board of Realdania, Michael Brockenhuss-Schack. Philanthropy Director, Nina Kovsted Hel joined the two of them and welcomed Crown Princess Mary at the house BLOX, where the conference took place.

BLOX that housed the event is a gathering-point for both architecture, urban life and sustainability in Copenhagen. "Built Back Better" was first launched in 2015 by the United Nations. It is a concept that focuses on the rebuilding process of cities after having bit struck by a catastrophe. Now the concept has come to Denmark - and is hopefully here to stay.

With Crown Princess Mary front raw CEO of the United Nations Global Compact, Sanda Ojiambo and CEO of WHO Europe, Dr Hans Kluge gave the introductory speeches and officially opened the conference. Among other things, their speech touched the topic about those who are especially struggling at the moment due to the global pandemic.

And she strikes again! How is it possible for me to get impresses every single time Mary shows up at an event? After more than ten years following her every move, I still get overwhelmed by her sense of style - in more than one way. Really, what is not to like about this gorgeous outfit? We got something pink, something casual, something new and something old.

Her powder pink dress is brand new. Am I sure? - yes I am. The reason why you may think that we have seen this dress before is because Mary has the exact same dress in a bright red color. This one too is also from Marc by Marc Jacobs. Wish that dress was in my wardrobe. A stunning pieces I hope to see (soon) again. I always loved when she wore the other one and now I love it even more. Proves that good design can be replicated in several colors.

She embraced the style by wearing white and pink diamond earrings from Hartmann's. What better match, right? Once again, she wore plenty of smashing jewellery and I think we should take a look at them. Her love bracelet from Cartier was this time accompanied by three other golden bracelets. All from Dulong Fine Jewelry. A great way to wear more than just one bracelet. The black pearl ring is also a Dulong Fine Jewelry design.

And then she is back to wearing a clutch. This one is still unidentified and goes quite a few years back in time. I still do not know where to find it or even where to look. That is not the case with her shoes. They are from Gianvito Rossi.

Launching a new partnership between...

 31st August

It was a great day, when Crown Princess Mary arrived to announce a new partnership between WWF World Wild Fund for Nature and a Danish company. That company is VELUX.

She made the announcement as newly president of the WWF World Wild Fund for Nature - a title that previously belonged to her late father-in-law, Prince Henrik. I guess it was with great pleasure she said yes to become their new president. The Crown Princess already attended one job earlier last month, when she released new thornback rays in Kattegatecentret in Grenaa, here.

As president, her job is to find ways to protect endangered species and help spread solutions that can ensure a better future for both nature and the planet.

This new partnership between WWF Wold Wild Fund for Nature and VELUX (a Danish window-making company) is all about the company's climate responsibility and how to inspire other companies (both national and international) to become "Lifelime Carbon Neutral". By 2041, VELUX will work to reduce their CO2 footprint and obtain materials from forest projects led by WWF Wold Wild Fund for Nature.

Crown Princess Mary was accompanied by, among others, Bo Øksnebjerg - the Secretary-General of WWF and CEO of VELUX, David Briggs.

What a look. Mary really amazed me with her early Fall outfit. Always loved the colors worn during Fall and Winter. Burgundy, navy blue, darker green, purple, you name it. That is exactly what Mary had chosen to wear on August 31st, when she announced a new partnership between WWF World Wild Fund for Nature and VELUX.

She embraced that Fall-inspired look by wearing a brand new silk printed blouse from Erdem. Some new things are found within minutes and others takes days and years sometimes. This new Erdem blouse was easy for someone to find. I learned about the blouse from Kate and Heaven. A really lovely blouse with a wonderful print. I see both flowers, trees, birds and monkeys. Seems like she's in to exotic printed pieces these days. Mary matched her new pieces with a simple black pleated skirt, which I think we have seen before. All belted up with a reused leather belt from Max Mara.

Also her jewellery looked smashing and deserves an extra look. The rustic white pearl earrings are old too, but so far, I have not been able to identify where they are from. Any ideas? The other pearl-piece (her bracelet) is a unique creation made by Dulong Fine Jewelry similar to this, here. Two more bracelets are also from that same designer. Cartier for the last one. Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen is the master behind her small diamond studded ring. What piece of jewellery would you pick if you had the change? - I could take the Cartier bangle. Love it.

Mary rarely wears larger bags, but for this event she had chosen her old navy blue Prada bag with matching blue upholstery. Finding the model with red upholstery is no problem, but so far, I have not been able to track it down with that blue one.

A little surprisingly Mary wore bright suede purple pumps for this outfit. Usually, I do not like this shape of purple but it makes a great combo with the rest of her outfit. She wore them for the first time on a businesstrip to Italy in 2018, here. Her beautiful suede pumps are from Gianvito Rossi.

A last summer greeting

 31st August

We already got one summer greeting from the Crown Princes family from the time they stayed at Gråsten castle in Gråsten, here. Lovely photos that quickly spred across almost every country in the world. But now we got one more. Lucky us, right? But this year it was simply not enough. The family wanted to share one last summer greeting on the last day of summer.

The five new photos are of the Crown Princes Couple and their four children - Prince Christian, Princesses Isabella, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine. All having a good time. Enjoying summer in Denmark.

It is photographer Franne Voigt, who captured these sweet moment of the Crown Prince family.

Mary looked absolutely great in her bright blue printed dress. I do not know if it is because it is from Hennes & Mautriz we like it so much, but nevertheless you seem to love it as much as I do. Wish it was still available. Maybe I have more luck the next time. I really like its beautifully sculpted sleeves and neckline. And the fabric is simply stunning, when it moved in the wind.

The brown belt she embraced her new blue dress with, is from Max Mara. I learned this from a good friend of mine, Kate. She often helps with with identifying Mary wardrobe. This new brown belt is for sure one we are going to see again. Often, I guess. Just look at the way it closes. What bright mind made this in his head? Love it!

Her golden jewellery are just as incredible as the rest of the outfit. The rather large golden earrings are a creation made with inspiration from Greece. They are from Dulong Fine Jewelry, such as several of her bracelets. Especially, the Dulong Fine Jewelry and Cartier bangles seems to be close favorites of hers. Mary often wears pieces over and over again for a long time, and then changes for something else. The sames goes with these two bracelets.

I hope you did not miss Mary's smashing new flat pointy ankle strap slippers? Never thought I would like such flats, but these are great. These I found at Anonymous Copenhagen. This is by no doubt my Mary is and always will be my style icon and inspiration. She always moves her boundaries, when it comes to trying out a new style of shoes, a new bold print or even a fancy color. Please, Mary keep it coming and never stop inspiring us with your fascinating and surprising style.
