Day 1. UN's 77th General Assembly

21st September 2022

Crown Prince Frederik had arrived in New York a day prier to his wife to attend the UN's Generel Assembly. Among others, he attended the opening debate along with the Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and spoke at the "Sustainable Food: How alternative food production and consumption can combat climate change".

Crown Princess Mary arrived on September 21st. First thing in the morning, she attended the WWF Would Wild Fund for Nature event "Global Plastics Treaty Business Coalition. The event had been organized in collaboration with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.

She also participated a meeting on Danish development cooperation and negotiations with the UN environmental organization UNEP. Later, she met with the executive director of the United Nations Population Fund Dr. Natalia Kanem to discuss UNEPA's strategies for 2022-2015.

On her first day in New York, Mary showed up in a brand new orange printed dress from Jonathan Simkhai. Heaven was the lucky finder of Mary's new dress. The dress looked beautiful on her. Especially, the color was a lovely choice. I am a bit troubled about the black blazer. I do not really see the point of wearing a black blazer with this dress. What do you think? Go or no go? I am curious to hear your opinions.

She accessorized the new dress with golden diamond earrings from Sophie Bille Brahe and one of her most loved bracelets from Dulong Fine Jewelry. Mary added the bracelet to her jewellery collection a year ago. The other golden bangle is rather new. Not to be mistaken with her Cartier bangle. This is studded with different colored stones. It is still not identified. Rebekka Notkin is the talented creator of her third bracelet and ring. Her rather large diamond ring is from Dulong Fine Jewelry.

The beautiful leather handbag is a design by Prada. It has been part of her wardrobe for quite a few years now. She has worn the bag when, among others, she attended the CBS Responsibility Day 2021 (here) and when visiting Prada in 2017 (here).

Mary nailed it (without the blazer) by wearing black leather studded pumps from Valentino. Many women dream of wearing a pair of these iconic heels. Mary owns quite a few pairs in different colors - and styles.

After a long day, the Crown Princess had one last event to attend: a welcome reception hosted by President Joseph Biden. She was accompanied by the Danish Minister of Development Flemming Møller Mortensen at the reception.

It took place at The American Museum of National History in New York.

The reception gathered heads of state and government as part of the opening of UN's 77th General Assembly.

I wish we had more photos from the welcome reception to get a more "whole" view of her outfit. Somehow, I miss the rest to say for sure if I like this look or not. My impressions are not negative, but I would love to have seen more.

Heaven managed to identified both her outfit. They are from Rochas. I was sure, Mary was wearing a dress because the two pieces look so well-put-together. But in fact, it is a blouse and matching skirt. As earlier during the day, Mary embraced the look with Sophie Bille Brahe earrings and bracelets from Dulong Fine Jewelry and Rebekka Notkin.

We get a glimpse of a clutch as well. It is from Prada. An old one worn before at quite a few different occasions. Like, when she welcomed Japan's Crown Prince visited Denmark in 2017 (here). She also wore it in Australia in 2013 on an official visit (here).

  1. I agree with you about the blazer, it is too dark and heavy for the dress. Mary has done this a few times with other pretty dresses and I always think it is a mistake. Nobody's perfect I guess, she gets it right 99% of the time!

    1. I am glad someone else feel the same way about the black-blazer-thing ha ha. Also because she has so many incredible white, purple, blue, etc. blazers that would be a much better choice - at least in my opinion.
