Presentation of the Christmas stamp 2024

Queen Mary attended the presentation of the annual Christmas Stamp as patron of Julemærkefonden. The big reveal took place at Copenhagen city hall.

Artist Niels Ditlev had the honor of designing this years Christmas stamp. The task was maybe a little more special this time because the stamp was dedicated to the new King and Queen. The Christmas stamp 2024 is entitled "Christmas in the kingdom - yesterday, today and tomorrow". Niels Ditlev created a designed with many references of Danish history.

Count Ingolf and his wife Countess Sussie of Rosenborg also attended the presentation as patron of the Christmas stamp march and because of their work as ambassador's of the Christmas stamp homes.

Earlier that morning, Frederik and Mary both attended the official farewell to Iceland's President and her husband who have been visiting Denmark the last couple of days. Mary chose to wear the very same outfit at the presentation of the Christmas stamp at the city hall around noon. She dazzled in a reused Zimmermann blouse and wide-legged JOSEPH trousers with a Prada belt. She also wore a beautiful white coat at the arrival.

The delicate diamond earrings are still a mystery to me but I know about the stunning custom-made Dulong Fine Jewelry bracelets, the diamond rings from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen and her new brooch. It shows this years Christmas stamp.

She beautifully matched the outfit with navy blue suede pumps from Jimmy Choo.

(Day 3.) Officiel state visit from Iceland

Iceland's President Halla Tómasdóttir and her husband Björn Skúlason have been on a two-days official state visit in Denmark. They arrived on October 8th.

Today, King Frederik and Queen Mary hosted an official farewell at Christian VII's Palace at Amalienborg. President Halla Tómasdóttir and Björn Skúlason followed a more than 160 year old tradition and wrote their signature at a piece of window glass.

Mary matched a reused printed blouse from Zimmermann with wide-legged JOSEPH trousers. I tend to say that this is a "signature outfit". It is a good-old go-to which we have seen a million times before but it never gets out of style. The Prada belt is a classy detail.

I see a pair of diamond earrings. I have never been able to learn more about them. Hope I will one day. They are stunning! So is the custom-made Dulong Fine Jewelry bracelets. Would really (really) like to own one of these 'Piccolo' bracelets. Love the mix of different stones. Think it is the first time Mary wears two at the same time. Do you like it? She also embraced the outfit with three diamond rings. The bands are Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen.

Day 2. Official state visit from Iceland

Yesterday, the Icelandic President and her husband arrived in Copenhagen for a two-days official state visit. The King and Queen warmly welcomed the couple at Nordre Toldbod.

Today, the royal couple accompanied President Halla Tómasdóttir and husband Björn Skúlason for a visit at "State of Green" which is a private-public partnership between the Danish government, companies and actors within the energy sector. Among others, the Presidential couple also paid a visit at Copenhagen Business School and attended the conference "Iceland and Denmark's Path to Shared Success".

Laster on, the King and Queen attended a business conference at Danish Industry along with the Presidential couple.

I really hoped for something else but you never fail with a good old suit from Scanlan & Theodore and a plain white Hugo Boss blouse. Right? Mary wore the same combo when celebrating Queen Margrethe's 83rd birthday in April 2023 and at a state visit in Spain in 2023.

This time, Mary accessorized the dusty green suit with brand new white pearl earrings from Dulong Fine Jewelry and a beautiful beaded brooch. I have never been able to identify the brooch. Maybe I will one day. Could it be a one-of-a-kind? It is a reuse such as the elegant diamond ring from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen.

The chic snake pumps are old ones from Gianvito Rossi. She wore the exact same pumps at the state visit in Spain last year. I never really understood the thing about snakeskin/python pumps, but Mary changed my mind.

Return event at the Northatlantic Brygge

Island's President Halla Tómasdóttir hosted a return event at the Northatlantic Brygge in Copenhagen. Usually, the royal couple host a dinner or banquet in honor of the visiting couple and they host a return event as a "thank you for your hospitality during our visit".

Princess Benedikte was also present at the event such as the Icelandic ambassador in Denmark Péter Ásgeirsson. 

Mary wore this suit back in 2015 when attending "World Cancer Day". I have thought about it for years, when she would wear it again. Today it happened! Back then I was not sure about it being a two-piece or a jumpsuit. I go with a jumpsuit. Seems most likely. The black belt is a reuse from Celine. At the arrival, Mary was wearing an old black Prada coat.

She embraced the style with ruby earrings and bracelet inherited from Queen Ingrid. Both are part of the Queen's ruby parure. I am sure you noticed her exclusive ruby ring. It belonged to Queen Alexandrine. She wore it as a brooch. Queen Alexandrine even wore it on her engagement photos (link below). Mary paired it with a diamond band from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen and a silver one from Dulong Fine Jewelry.

As with the jumpsuit, we haven't seen these black patent pumps from Gianvito Rossi for quite some years. Mary was very fund of these pumps years ago.

Day 1. Official state visit from Iceland

Welcoming

Queen Mary just arrived home from a four-days visit to Brazil. A couple of days later, her and King Frederik are hosting an official state visit from Iceland's President Halla Tómasdóttir and her husband Björn Skúlason. They will stay in Denmark from October 8-9th.

King Frederik and Queen Mary welcomed the President and Björn Skúlason at the harbor of Nordre Toldbod in Copenhagen. The four of them accompanied each other for a visit at Kastellet - a war memorial. The honored soldiers and their families with a wreath.

Before visiting the Icelandic cultural center Jónshús in Copenhagen, the couple were officially welcomed at Amalienborg. In the afternoon, the royal couple and the Presidentail couple visited the Arnamagnean Collection at University of Copenhagen.

Mary looked absolutely splendid when welcoming Iceland's President Halla Tómasdóttir and her husband Björn Skúlason. She wore a reused purple dress created by Danish designer Søren Le Schmidt. The details are magnificent! Mary first wore this stunning dress in 2023 when attending the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. Back then, she styled the dress with a custom-made headpiece from Jane Taylor. On October 8th, she wore the same piece but without the vail.

Somehow, her fine little Amethyst necklace caught all the attention. I get it. The necklace is indeed beautiful and we haven't seen it for many years. Yes, she has worn it before. Mary first wore the Hugo Grun necklace when honored being new patron of the Kidney Association in June 2005. Then again in October 2005. She even wore it for official photos when Crown Prince Christian was born. Last but not least, Mary wore the necklace in 2009.

Mary also embraced the outfit with a lovely Carlend Copenhagen clutch and dusty rose patent pumps from Gianvito Rossi.

Banquet at Amalienborg

In the evening, the royal couple hosted a banquet in honor of the Icelandic Presidential couple visiting Denmark. The dinner took place at Christiansborg Castle. 

Princess Benedikte also attended the prestiges banquet such as members of the Danish Government, representatives from Danish and Icelandic businesses, culture and sports. The Icelandic business delegation and representatives from the Danish court were also invited.

Both President Halla Tómasdóttir and King Frederik gave a speech at the banquet.

I like the idea of mixing and matching, new and old. Adore the midnight blue outfit and shiny diamond jewellery. Somehow, I'm still a bit confused. Both the Jesper Høvring top and ruffle Oscar de la Renta skirt are outstanding but I'm not in love with the combo. What was your first reaction? I'd really like to hear you out on this one.

Mary beautifully accessorized her evening outfit with the Danish Pearl Poiré Parure previously worn by Queen Margrethe. Mary also wore stunning diamond earrings previously owned by Anne of Orange and the smashing Rivière diamond necklace.

She matched the look with an old satin box clutch from Prada and suede pumps from Jimmy Choo.
