A very special Christmas greeting

17th December

"It has been a very special year. For all of us". In a Christmas greeting, Crown Princess Mary shared her thoughts about the past year as Chairwoman and founder of the Mary Foundation. 2020 has been a year with many changes,  deprivation and for some even losses of beloved family members and/or friends.

A situation like this also showed us, how important we are to each other. We cannot do everything on our own. The pandemic is one reason why many of us needed to stay alone to keep safe. Because of this, social isolation has become more widespread. With social isolation as their core, the Mary Foundation has made it their most important priority to fight solitude. The past year, they have become wiser and more creative in this fight. Especially, when it comes to young people.

Crown Princess Mary highlight one thing we need to remember at the end of her greeting: our will to be something for each other and the courage to stand up and ask for help.

One of our traditions in Denmark is to gather around Christmas and enjoy a pleasant meal. We call it "julefrokost" - Christmas lunch. This year, members of the Mary Foundation joined a virtual Christmas lunch with a special guess: the Crown Princess, here.

With the greeting came a new portrait of Mary. Talented photographer, Stine Heilmann captured the moment. She is also the woman, who took the new official portraits of the Crown Prince Couple.

In this photo, Mary dazzled in a creation made by Danish designer, Søren Le Schmidt. His designs has become incredible trendy the last couple of years, and Mary also have a number of his creations in her wardrobe already. This 50s vibe dress is one of them. Despite it looks a lot like a coat, Søren Le Schmidt himself refers to it as a dress. She also wore the dress on the national Flag Day 2020 in September, here.

She embraced the style by wearing magnificent diamond earrings shaped as flowers. They were purchased a few years back at an Bruun Rasmussen Auction. Her two golden bangles are both from Dulong Fine Jewelry, meanwhile the golden ring is from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen. Her brooch is a diamond studded butterfly - the Mary Foundation's logo.

Her berry lips and lovely dark brown curly hair really made this outfit complete. I never realized how well bordeaux and light blue compliment each other. Wish I would wear something like this on Christmas Eve. Are you inspired to wear something similar too?
