Princess Isabella's 18th birthday!
21 April 2025
Three new official gala portraits are released on occasion of Princess Isabella's 18th birthday today! The beautiful photo are taken by photographer Steen Evald at the Knights Hall at Frederik VIII's Palace at Amalienborg.
Gown
Princess Isabella's magical orange evening gown is tailored by Danish designer Carina Grønning. She is based in Odense specializing in fine couture and bridalwear. She landed an internship at Danish designer Jesper Høvring and finished her degree in 2013.
Tiara
Her stunning tiara is a gift from her grandmother on occasion of her 18th birthday. The tiara was made during the last 18th hundreds and once belonged to Crown Princess Margareta of Sweden. Her daughter Princess Ingrid (later Queen of Denmark) was gifted the tiara at her confirmation. This is how it has ended up in Denmark. It is made of 11 gold flowers embellished with diamonds and turquoise. It can also be worn as a bracelet.
Earrings
The Princess matched her new (and first) tiara with turquoise earrings. They were a gift to Queen Mary on her 50th birthday from Queen Margrethe. The earrings comes with a brooch.
Bracelet
Her golden bangle is also a gift from her grandmother. It comes with a fine little story. Queen Margrethe was given such a bracelet when she turned 5 years old from her mother, Queen Ingrid. She chose to follow the tradition and gave Princess Isabella, Princess Josephine and Countess Athena their very own bracelet when they turned 5.
Order, brooch & Coat of Arms
She has now turned 18 and is officially wearer of the finest order in Denmark: the Order of the Elephant. The Order goes back to around the time of 14th hundreds. With the Order also followed her very own Coat of Arms. When finished it will be surrounded by among others her parents Coat of Arms, brothers, grandparents', etc.
