The King's personal library

27 June 2024

The King's personal library (in Danish 'Kongens HĂ„ndbibliotek') was founded at the time of King Frederik 5. in 1746 and is a collection of the private books, manuscripts, maps, pictures, photos and music.

Till now, the library has been limited for the Danish monarchs but from June 29th the personal library will be open to the public - on weekends and during the summer holiday. It is located at Christian VIII's Palace at Amalienborg in Copenhagen.

A few days before the official opening, King Frederik and Queen Mary visited the library for a little talk and a view on some of the library's fine art.

Wish we had more photos from their visit at the library. Something that showed a few more details about her outfit. But I like what I see. Mary matched soft blue button-down with what I believe to be light grey trousers and a chic brown leather belt. I am nothing closer to identify her outfit. Maybe one day.

Mary's is indeed casual and down-on-earth. Hardly any makeup and simple ponytail. I love her confidence and that fact that Denmark's Queen are willing to post photos like these for the world to see. Adore the message.

Her beloved necklaces are Halberstadt and Julie Sandlau. The tortoise-like glasses are Gucci. Think it is her favorite pair of glasses.
