Day 2: The Global Network of Women's Shelters' Conference

Thursday, November 5th

Crown Princess Mary attended the 3rd World Conference of Women's Shelters' in the Netherlands. Her stay lasted from November 4-5th.

Program: In the Hague
  • 11:00 am.  Visited the ICC's new headquarters, designed by the Danish architects schmidt hammer lassen.
  • 1:00 pm. Arrived to the World Forum in The Hague.
  • 1:30 pm. Crown Princess Mary was the keynote speaker and was present at the panel discussion on strengthening global and regional networks.

On wednesday 4th Mary arrived by plane to the Netherlands where she was welcomed her friend, and Queen of the Netherlands, Máxima. Along with Queen Máxima, the two royal women attended the Global Network of Women's Shelters' Conference in The Hague. As I told you yesterday, the conference deals with any aspects of finding the solutions to combat violence against women all over the world. Mary has for several years worked very hard to give girls and women at better life without violence. Because of her commitment she is a member of the International Panel ICPD's High Level Task Force and as patron of the UN Population Fund and the Maternity Worldwide. Not to forget, she is the chairman of the Mary Foundation working in areas such as domestic violence against women, where there were be two workshops.. This is among others why Mary takes part in the conference. She participated in several panel discussions, workshops and activities accompanied by Queen Máxima but also on her own representing not all these organizations but also the small country Denmark. A couple of hours before she attended one more panel discussion at the World Forum, she paid a visit to the highly secured International Criminal Courts new buildings in The Hague which are designed by the Danish architectural firm schmidt hammer lassen. The new buildings will be put at the disposal of the staff around the turn of the year after which it will be the court for various war crimes. She also met some Danish companies working with design, architecture and construction represented in the Netherlands. She arrived to the new court buildings in great spirit despite the fact she had two busy days trying to help world's women who have been exposed to violence, physically and mentally.

After her visit at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Mary went back World Forum and for one more day, she participated in panel discussions. As Queen of the Netherlands Máxima led the first day of the conference and gave a very fine speech at the opening. You find her 10 minutes speech here. On the 5th Mary was the keynote speaker and for more than 20 minutes, twice as long as Máxima, Mary beautifully spoke, in her native language english, about why they all were gathered, her future hopes for the project and why it's so important to share knowledge and experiences to try to prevent violence again girls and women all over the world. Watch it here. I haven't had the time to watch the whole speech but from what I've heard Mary is really committed and honored to be a part of such an important work. If you think 20 minutes are way too much to watch her speech you can also just read it, as I did, because on the Mary Foundations website her speech has been published, here. I have never been that interested in speeches as I have recently. Mary is to me a natural speaker and he word comes easy and anything unnecessary is omitted. Every word has a meaning. Which you might  sense, I advocate to either hear or read her speeches from now on. Shortly after the last panel discussions Mary was on her way home.

Even after four years of having this blog, I have a hard time describing why I love her style this much. Mary can wear the must funny and printed piece of clothes and still look super hot! Of course I think she has also worn clothes that look...  not good. But that does not happen often. In a way Mary's clothes are always up for discussion. Some are very critical and some are lovers. She just has a special glow, a personality that can wear almost anything. And that special glow is what I can't describe. Enough of me being sentimental. In a grey tweed figure hugging dress, which is differently new, Mary rocked at her last day in the Netherlands. I just received a link to an article about the new 007 James Bond movie, not that this has something to do with Mary and her dress BUT the actress Léa Seydoux wear a dress that is EXACTELY THE SAME AS MARY'S! All Léa's clothes, she has worn in connection with the new movie, are designed by Prada or Miu Miu. With the help from sweet Heaven Mary's dress is now found at Prada. So what the article writes, that it is from Miu Miu, is not correct. The dress features a wide black belt showing her waist and a white collar. The style of the dress reminds me of several different designers but so far non of them have been the one I'm looking for. Tweed is the perfect fabric to wear at autumn. I also think the dress looks comfortable, stylish but comfortable in the grey woolen tweed. I would really have loved to see something a little bore exciting going on with her hairstyle but she looked beautiful with her natural brown eye make up and soft red lips. As the day before she wore the round diamond earrings and the silver Cartier watch. The dress is so classic and accessorized with the nude Prada handbag. What I love the most, beside the dress, must be the powder pink t-strap Pura Lopez (fall-winter 2015/16) shoes. I know I'll never be able to purchase these shoes but my heart is beating twice as much when I see them. She first wore them with her shiny silk Ole Yde dress at a event in the Danish Parliament earlier this year. I kinda got obsessed trying to identifying them - searched for hours, I even contacted several designers just to find out where they were from. The last I contacted was Pura Lopez and I could not believe it when they gave me the answer that her shoes were actually from Pura Lopez! That is why we now know who the designer is. We also know who created her black pearl bracelet, Marianne Dulong and Hartmann's is the designer of her diamond earrings featuring small pink diamonds.

Dress: Prada Grey Dress w. White Collar
