Christmas (Eve)

Saturday, December 24th

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended a Christmas service in Aarhus cathedral along with all four children. The Queen, Prince Henrik such as Prince Joachim and Princess Marie attended the service with their their children.

It has been a tradition for me and my grandfather to go to church every year on Christmas eve; something we have been doing the last 15 or 16 years I think. As this is a tradition for me, it is for the Danish royal family. Each year as good as everyone in the family are going to church on December 24th -the day where Christmas is celebrated in Denmark. I'm sure some of you might have the same tradition. Well, Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik had invited their family to this Christmas service which took place in Aarhus cathedral because the family is celebrating Christmas to Marselisborg castle this year. Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended in a great mood along with all four children. Also Prince Joachim and Princess Marie were present accompanied by their two children Prince Henrik and Princess Athena. Prince Joachim's two oldest son's, Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix also enjoyed an hour or so along with their family. Everybody seemed to be in a splendid mood!

Christmas eve is differently one of my favourites because you get to wear one of your most beloved (and dazzling) outfits. We rarely see what Mary is wearing a such private occasions, but still we got a glimpse of her because of the service in Aarhus, though it's not must. No doubt that she was keeping warm in one of her lovely grey wool coats - still unidentified. In a few photos we get a glimpse of what she is wearing underneath. To me it looks like a brand new burgundy dress featuring a turtleneck. A closer look at some pictures I so sure it's not lace but a glitter dress. I am still having trouble finding the right one. No ideas?

This she had matched with diamond earrings from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen, black tights, a black Quidam clutch and of course her incredible black SAND Copenhagen pointed pumps. I also see what I believe is a new brooch from Marni. Can't tell where it's from. Simple, yet very elegant. Perfect for Christmas eve. As the rest of her outfit, Mary's makeup and hairstyle were simple and polished.

Saturday, December 24th

The most wonderful photo has been shared of Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik and their eight grandchildren. I was taken on Christmas eve in front of a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. The whole family were gathered at Marselisborg castle. From what I see in this one photo, I am sure they had a great evening together.

Well then, Merry Christmas from the royal family!

Sunday, December 25th

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended Christmas service on December 25th taking place in Aarhus cathedral. Prince Christian and Princess Isabella attended as well, such as the Queen, Prince Henrik and Prince Joachim and Princess Marie.

Another tradition the royal have is to go to church the day after Christmas eve on December 25th. It was also the case this year. Something like this does not change which I think it just great. Like the day before Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik were present accompanied by their two son's and their part part of their families, because only Prince Christian his sister Princess Isabella, Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix attended the Christmas service. The Queen and her husband warmly welcomed the family members at the arrival. Think they had a great time together. Wonder what it feels like to attend a service the same day, in the same church as the royal family? I wouldn't mind trying that. This only makes me even more excited about it's soon time to celebrate New Year's eve! -with big dressed, tiaras and grand ball! Let it soon be December 31st.

First thing I noticed when I saw pictures from the service, was that Frederik and Mary were dressed in matching outwear. Both in grey. Splendid match. Such as Prince Joachim and Princess Marie were in matching coats. Well-dressed men and their wife's! Mary was a bit more simple than the evening before, which of course is understandable. This time she was in a dark grey turtleneck blouse featuring long sleeves and a pair of black trousers. I think it is her black suede ankle boots from Prada she's wearing to match the trousers. Very elegant and sophisticated she embraced the style with a pair of diamond earrings from Hartmann's as well as a pair of diamond rings from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen.

Thursday, December 29th

Only one thing was missing to make the perfect Christmas and that is of course a royal Christmas card from Frederik and Mary. I'm alway thrilled to see which picture they have chosen to become this years Christmas card photo and it is just a lovely, here. All four children smiling and having fun! Wearing shorts and short sleeved blouses that may indicate it was taken during the summer. Maybe you even remember this is not the first time we get a Christmas card where the family sits on that couch. In 2010, before the twins were born, we got this incredible photos of Frederik and Mary along with Prince Christian and Princess Isabella sitting on the very same couch, here

Morning café for the homeless

Wednesday, December 21st

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary unofficially visited Morning Café for the homeless in Copenhagen.

It has been a year packed with these unofficial visits. But you do not hear me complain at all. It is a pleasant surprise. This time the Crown Prince couple payed a visit to the Morning café for the homeless who works to reduce homelessness and improve living conditions. At the café homeless can get a proper meal, clothing's and medial help if needed. The place received The Crown Prince Couple's Social Prize back in 2008. The couple were given a guided tour to see the facilities at the Morning Café and got to meet some of the volunteers and users, who seemed more than overwhelmed to say hallo to Denmark's future King and Queen. As usual the couple were down on earth and all relaxed. They took plenty of time to talk and listen during the visit. And of course a couple of pictures were taken. What a wonderful Christmas present!

As it was an unofficial and more or less private visit, both Frederik and Mary were dressed casual. Mary was wearing simple trousers, black I think, and what I believe is a new burgundy jacket such as a blouse underneath featuring a ruffle hemline. No idea where any of this is from, but it looks so comfy and classy of course at the same time. Pretty sure it's a By Malene Birger scarf she wore. Wonder if she might have been wearing a warmer coat at the arrival? Denmark is no warm right now. Well, it's only thoughts. Frederik had matched a checkered shirt and a grey sweater with a pair of light grey trousers. One good-looking Crown Prince couple we have!

"Women Empower Business"

Tuesday, December 20th

Crown Princess Mary was present at the reception taking place at the House of Industry in Copenhagen, on occasion of the launch of the book "Women Empower Business".

Just as few days before Christmas, Mary is still working. Today she was attending a reception on occasion of a book launch which took place at the House of Industry. The book is entitled "Women Empower Business" and is a photo book. Earlier this year, during the Women Deliver Conference 2016, taking place in Denmark in May (of course you remember that), the Crown Princess attended the opening of a photo exhibition under the same name as the published book. These are the photos used in the book, all in one place. Mary was the guest of honor when she arrived to the House of Industry earlier this morning. She was welcomed with a wonderful red bouquet of flowers. I truly believe it is something she has been looking forward to participate, not only because the topic is very close to her heard, but also because -as far as I know- this is the first time she has ever written foreword in a book. Beautiful she writes how important it is that we share the responsibility for a world where everyone is equal. Signed; Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.

As I started by saying, we are only four days away from Christmas (of course if you celebrate Christmas on December 24th, as we do in Denmark) and sparkly clothes are needed. I really can't get enough of that golden Ganni dress and I love that's the dress she had chosen to wear. Feel in love with it the first time she wore it about a year ago or so. Not even in my wildest imagination I thought I'd one day be wearing the dress myself, but I did. Actually I wore my golden Ganni dress for Christmas eve last year. Honestly, you feel like a true princess! Believe it or not. Really a wonderful dress. Can not wait to wear it one day again. By the way, have you chosen what to wear on Christmas eve? I'd love to heard about it. Back to Mary. At the arrival she was wearing her black Prada coat, which is also where I noticed her long suede Prada boots. Not sure I would have chosen boots, but she makes it work (as usual). Not that I absolutely adore the combo, but it's a fine match. As accessory, she embrace the glamours style with a couple of bracelets -from CartierOle Lynggaard Copenhagen and Dulong Fine Jewelry. Perhaps also a pair of Hartmanns diamond earrings. Keeping everything classy, Mary wore a stunning Carlend Copenhagen clutch. Simple, yet elegant.

Christmas reception at Christiansborg castle

Tuesday, December 13th

Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik hosted a Christmas reception for employees and collaborators at Christiansborg castle. Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended along with their four children. Also Prince Joachim and his wife Princess Marie were present such as Prince Felix, Prince Henrik and Princess Athena.

What I plesent surprise; Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik hosted a reception at Christiansborg for employees and collaborators. What's more magnificent is that both the Crown Prince family and Prince Joachim and Princess Marie with their two children and Prince Felix were present at the reception. A great way to celebrate Christmas, say thanks for yet another wonderful year to one's staff and gather one's family; all at once! First all the invited guests and the royal family enjoyed the traditional Lucia procession (always on December 13th) followed by a part from the ballet 'Cinderella' which the Queen has set designer of the show. The famous Danish singer MØ also sang one of her songs. Later time was up for the royal family to mingle and they did, with as many as possible. This is what Christmas is for; to enjoy each others company. It all took place in the beautiful Banquet hall at Christiansborg castle. I've been there myself and it's marvelous. Indeed a magnificent room!

As good as it sounds, the sad thing is that we only got to see very few pictures from the reception. I had hoped to see some more of the royal family. But we only got to see a couple blurry photos, that hardly show anything. Having said that, I would really love to have seen more, especially because most of the family was there and I am almost 100% sure Mary was wearing a brand new dress. To me it looks like a black dress featuring long sleeves and maybe a layered skirt. Rather long actually. Think it's printed with either dusty pink flowers or birds. A bit boho-chic. Unfortunately I have not been able to ID it yet, but maybe with your help I will soon be able to tell who the designer is. Can you help me with this one? The shoes I recognized right way; Gianvito Rossi -of course, which is the main reason why I believe the print/pattern is the same dusty colour. And the of course the clutch could be her pink Bottega Veneta. But remember this is only suggestions.

Christmas concert in Esajas church

Sunday, December 11th

Crown Princess Mary was present as patron of The Royal Danish Academy of Music Childrens Choir Christmas concert taking place in Esajas church. The Crown Princess attended along with Crown Prince Frederik and their four children.

For years, the Crown Princess has brought her family to the Royal Danish Academy of Musics Children's Choir Christmas concert. It has now become a wonderful tradition. Mary is patron for the Royal Danish Academy of Music Children's Choir which is the reason why the family was attending. The atmosphere is so special. Can't really explain why -maybe because all lights are turned out and replaced by candles and the children's choir are singing with the most beautiful voices. I wasn't there, but it feels like when I watch the video below. The royal couple arrived around noon with all four children. They clearly enjoyed the concert from first raw. Especially the kids seemed to enjoy the afternoon with their parents. Simply just a wonderful family!

When I see what Mary was wearing at the Christmas concert, it makes me think that we recently have seen her wear somes pieces that are a bit... unusual -nothing bad about that at all. Think it is great to we get to see new items and accessories. One of them is the new dress she was wearing at this concert. At first sight there was no doubt in my mind that it was a new dress but the recurring questions as always is; where it is from? I had several different designer in mind, non of them was the one. Following day I learned, at Royals & Fashion, that it had already been found at L.K. Bennett. Reminds me a lot of a Isabel Marant for H&M dress of hers. Do you recall which one I'm talking about? Very similar print and fabric. She dazzled in her new dress which as accessorized with a pair of (huge) diamond earrings, her golden Cartier bracelet and knee-length Prada boots. Think the dress looks great with the boots. Believe I see a ring on her right hand too. If I'm correct she is wearing this kerosene colored coat which I am pretty sure is from Sportmax (Max Mara), which by the way is a magnificent match to the rest of her outfit! And a really great colour to wear during the winter season and it so pretty combined with the red nail polish. Would love to have seen a close up of her makeup; looks so beautiful.

Christmas at Frederik VIIIs Palace

Something I never thought would happen in a million year, has just happened! We have got a little sneak-peek behind the walls of Frederik VIIIs Palace during December. Another reason why I have come to love the Danish royal family on the social media even more. We get to see things we can only dream of, yet with a distance as it should be (that's just my opinion) because they are who they are. The family members allow us to see moments that are a little more private. Which really is the coincidence this time. Maybe you have already seen the two posted images? The Crown Princess took these lovely pictures of her four sweet children decorating a Christmas tree! I think it turned out really well. Wonder if it is the Queen who made the beautiful carpet under the tree? She probably did. With a tree like this I believe the royal family will have a wonderful Christmas.
If you adore the tree as much as I did, I give you some ideas beneath the Facebook post what to buy to get your very own, royal, Christmas tree! Happy 9th of December.

By the way, did you know that the royal family have their own Christmas calendar on Instagram? They do. Each day a new photo is shared, chosen in collaboration with Queen Margrethe.

Visiting 'Kræftværket'

Tuesday, December 6th

Crown Princess Mary paied a visit to Kræftværket at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen.

In the afternoon the Crown Princess hosted a Christmas reception at Frederik VIIIs palace, Amalienborg, for about 100 special invited guests, all collaborators of the Mary Foundation. But this wasn't the only event Mary had to attend because in the evening she visited Kræftværket at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen. Kræftværket is a meeting place for young people with cancer in the age between 15-29 being treated at the hospital which has existed since 2015 where it was founded. It was in the common room Mary met some of the young people who find themselves a little break from their illness. Right from the moment where Mary arrived the atmosphere was all relaxed. With a glass of water, she had a chat with several of the young people using Kræftværket, who told the Crown Princess their stories. I'm so sure it was a great evening.

As the athompshere, Mary was dressed all relaxed yet beautiful. It has been years since we have seen her in that dusty wool blouse which, yes, is a blouse and not a cardigan. More exactly 6 years, when she wore it at a collection held by Danish Television, here. Always love it and I often wondered why we haven seen it since, mainly because Mary usually wear her clothes more than once. But finally, here we have this lovely Alberta Ferretti blouse featuring the most wonderful details. I have photo of the model if any of you want to see them, unfortunately I have not been able to find it anywhere online. As in 2010, when she first wore it, Mary had chosen to wear it with black trousers. A rather good match. Everything was very simple; a long Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen necklace and a golden leaf ring from the same designer. Love how simple and everyday chic her outfit is. Don't you?
Does her hair look a bit darker than usual? Maybe she had her hair dyed a bit. Beautiful as always, her hairstyle and makeup was flawless. With this look I think she try to tell us that even everyday outfits can be magnificent!

Christmas reception for the Mary Foundation

Tuesday, December 6th

Crown Princess Mary attended the Christmas reception for the Mary Foundations collaborators at Frederik VIIIs palace, Amalienborg.

Christmas time! The most wonderful time a year. Differently what I look forward to the most each year, just as this Christmas reception. It has become a tradition to invite all of the Mary Foundations collaborators to a reception at Amalienborg with the purpose to thanks all for yet another year of collaboration. December is the perfect month for this. This is the main reason why around a hundred people were invited with the Crown Princess as host. From what I see, I think it was a wonderful afternoon for all of them. Mary seemed to be in a great mood, mingling with lots of the attendance who also seemed really to enjoy themselves. In the pictures I see a lovely atmosphere, especially because of the huge and magnificent chandeliers, large mirrors, gilded decorations and the dusty colour on the walls. I do not know if any of you (primarily for the Danes out there) took the chance to visit Frederik VIIIs palace before the Crown Prince family moved in? -Well I did. For sure you have already heard to talk about it. What I try to say is, that I understand if the special invited people were amazed by the room; I was! One of the most amazing experiences in my life.

Mary shone like a Christmas star at the reception! Am I the only one, or is Mary able to light up a room just by being there? Differently. Her eyes were almost smiling as much as her mouth. At the event she was dressed in the most beautiful blouse and trousers. First I was sure I should find the blouse and trousers at two different designers, but with help from one of you both piece have now been found at Jesper Høvring (Jesper Høvring x Great Greenland AW14-15). Don't think you will disagree with me when I say -splendid combination! Makes me want to try something similar right away. Unfortunately we can't see what pair of shoes she had chosen, but I guess them design could include suede and the colour burgundy. Or maybe even blue as the blouse, that would be cool. Also necklace is new, yet another fantastic Dulong Fine Jewelry creation such as the earrings. Think I also see her golden (expensive) Cartier bracelet on her left wrist and a golden ring -which could be her Dulong Fine Jewelry ring- on her right hand. This look paired with berry red lips and dark blue eyeshadow, well do I have to say more than: gold, blue and burgundy = thumbs up!

Thursday, December 1st

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended the premiere of the ballet The Nutcracker along with their four children.

What a lovely surprise! I was not aware that the royal family would attend the ballet premiere of The Nutcracker but it is just a wonderful 1st December gift for all of us. Queen Margrethe has been involved in the scenography and has designed all costumes, which by the way is not the first time. Nor is it the first time Queen Margrethe has invited the royal royal couple and their children to see the Christmas ballet. This year all four children attended along with their parents. The ballet took place in Tivoli Concert Hall. Also Countess Alexandra, her youngest son Prince Felix and his brother Prince Henrik were present such as Queen Anne-Marie. I wonder why Prince Joachim, Princess Marie and of course Princess Athena were not attending too? Well, the royal family members arrived around 7 pm. local time and clearly they had a great -even before the ballet started. I am sure they enjoyed the beautifully Christmas decorated Tivoli. The Queen entered the stage after the performance and the audience loved it!

It feels like a year since we have seen Mary and it's really just a week or so. But I have lost sense of reality the last week. So I am thrilled to see her at this unofficial event. With just this one outfit I am already inspired to do something similar on my own. In the dark Mary dazzled in a reused caramel coloured Oscar de la Renta coat. A splendid colour this time a year. Last time we saw it was at King Carl Gustav's 70th birthday celebration in April, hereNo doubt that I'm excited to it again. And my increased heartbeat does not end here because she was wearing both new pumps and a brand new tartan scarf! Never thought we would see her wear anything like this new scarf. Do you like it? I think it looks great combined with the coat. Don't you think? We'll get back to the shoes. A couple of images appeared of her without the coat and to me it differently looks like a new dress featuring some symmetric dots. With help from Heaven the dress has now been identified as Martin Grant. She accessorized her outfit with a Carlend Copenhagen clutch, Jewlscph earrings, a ring and her golden Cartier bracelet. Perfectly matching the multi-colour scarf Mary had red nails and the most amazing berry lips. Simply gorgeous! Now back to the shoes. Also brand new. I do not know if you recognized the style, but I did right away. Valentino! A new pair of rockstud pumps in green! I simply adore these pumps; how a classic pump meet the more edgy rivet is just great. Can't wait to see her wear them again. Note that I finally was able to find them in the right colour. Of course I also have to mention that she was wearing green leather gloves as well.
