Copenhagen Fashion Week 2017

Tuesday, January 31st

Crown Princess Mary attended the opening of Copenhagen Fashion Week 2017 taking place at Copenhagen City Hall. The Crown Princess also attended the presentation of Designers' Nest Award 2017 at Hotel d'Angleterre.

I look forward to many thing during the year especially this, Copenhagen Fashion Week! And it is finally here. Yeah! One of the reasons is of course because we get to see the Crown Princess there, but also because fashion and the latests trends are such a big part of my everyday life. The around noon, Mary arrived to Copenhagen City Hall to attend the official opening of the fashion week. She was warmly welcomed by, among others, Eva Kruse former CEO of Copenhagen Fashion Week. From what I see Mary was in a splendid mood arriving to the City Hall, differently ready for a day all about fashion. After a few speeches the fashion week was officially opened and it was time for a "little" reception that of course also included the Crown Princess as guest of honor.

Later in the afternoon Mary also attended another event on occasion of the fashion week, which was the presentation of Designers' Nest Award 2017. The ceremony took place at Hotel d'Angleterre in Copenhagen. It is not the first time Mary is there to hand over the award, actually she is patron for the Designers' Nest Award. The award goes to a young design talent and this years winner is Reea Peltola from Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture. Reea Peltola comes from Finland. I am so sure this was one of the greatest days in her life and she has every reason to be proud of herself. Designers' Nest Award is one of the most prestigious prizes to receive when you're a designer. Congratulations from me to the winner!

Just a little last thing which has absolutely nothing to do with the fashion award, but something you have to see anyway; yesterday a photo of Frederik and Mary's lovely family dog Ziggy, was posted on Instagram, here. Which also happen to be taken by the Crown Princess herself.

Copenhagen Fashion Week 2017 means lots of innovative design, creative ways of using materials and new ways to shape everything from dresses to shoes. With Mary attending, it also means that we get to see her in something chic, modern and ultra stylish! And for sure we saw a great outfit. Not what I had expected, but you do not hear me complain. Looking gorgeous in a rather simple black and white outfit. She matched, what to me looks like, a new white blouse with slim black trousers. Embracing the edgy style she also wore a brand new black coat which has been identified as YDE Copenhagen (AW16). It features the most incredible bead work I have ever seen. Bead work sometimes get too much, but not on this coat. Still looks very simple and polished. Of course we know Mary better than just a simple black and white outfit and the this was exception. She added a pair of green pumps from Valentino and a python clutch from Carlend Copenhagen. Then she had chosen a pair of diamond earrings from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen and a Dulong Fine Jewelry ring. Her hair was in a stunning updo, lips berry red and her eyes radiating. Is this something my reader like?

The Women's Board Award 2017

Friday, January 27th
Crown Princess Mary attended the presentation of the Women's Board Award 2017 taking place at Frederiksberg, Copenhagen.

No doubt that I really enjoyed following the state visit from Iceland earlier this week. It was a true pleasure watching the Crown Prince couple spending time with the Icelandic Presidential couple. We also got a gala dinner and some lovely pictures of Mary and the First Lady enjoying some time together. Some really great days! Now the Crown Princess is back, attending the presentation of this years Women's Board Award 2017 which has been handed over since 2014. It is the third time the Crown Princess is there to present the prestigious award which this year was given to TDC's executive director Pernille Erenbjerg. A huge and laud congratulation from me to Pernille with the award. Afterwards Mary and all the other invited guests attended a reception on occasion of the award show.

Well, well, well. I see that many opinions have already been shared on what the Crown Princess wore at the Women's Board Award 2017. I know about a week or so have gone sine the award was handed over, but still. What do my readers think about Mary's green and black outfit? I am completely in love with her new black cape. Everything about it is just perfect. I really want a black cape myself now! I have had different designers in mind, but none of them seems to be the right one. Then Kate and Heaven share a model with me from By Malina and I think they have managed to find the one we are looking for which now has also been confirmed. I can't wait to see her wear it again! The cape was worn over her green L.K. Bennett silk dress. An amazing dress and I really like it with the new black cape. She belted the outfit with her brown Céline belt. I am crazy in love with her outfit! She accessorized it with white pearl earrings from Dulong Fine Jewelry, the beautiful golden Cartier bracelet and of course her diamond bracelet from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen. Looking completely stunning in her rather simple outfit, she embrace the style with a black Quidam clutch and of course black pumps from SAND CopenhagenI only need three words to describe Mary's award show outfit: minimalistic, elegant and chic. Sorry to say girls, but I can't get why anyone dislike this.

The Crown Prince couple & the Icelandic Presidential couple during their day in Copenhagen

Day two is here. After yesterday's list of events, I think the Icelandic Presidential couple were looking very much forward to one more day in Copenhagen, before leaving Denmark the following day. Arriving to Denmark the Presidential couple shared their experiences with Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik. Day two they shared, most of the time, accompanied by Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary. I was thrilled when I found out that Frederik and Mary would accompany the President and his wife during their second day here in Denmark. From around 9:00 am till 12:00 pm. local time, Mrs Eliza Jean Reid joined Mary and H.E. Guðni Thorlacius Jóhannesson spend some time along with the Crown Princess. Among others, Mary and the First Lady attended a meeting with the Mary Foundation as the first thing in the morning followed by a visit to the kindergarden Tante Olgas Børnehus. Meanwhile the Crown Prince and Icelandic President were present at a seminar on innovation and sustainability at Danish Industry, also in Copenhagen. At noon the two "teams" met to have some lunch at Hotel and Restaurant School. Pictures clearly shows them having a great time together! Before the dinner in the evening, the Presidential couple payed several places in Copenhagen a visit on their own.

Please not that the program above is not complete. It only shows the events the Crown Prince couple attended.

I am overwhelmed who Mary always keep surprising me when it comes to outfits! I have no idea how she does it. Or maybe am I too easily impressed? Nevertheless, I am impressed (that even rhymed). Since the first time we saw her in that Oscar de la Renta dress I have been in love with it. The shape is magnificent. One thing that bothered me was the colours, but the way she styles it this time I adore the colours too. So inspiring to see how to mix and match both new and reused items and colours. Danes sometimes are a bit afraid of colours (including me), but Mary makes me wanna try all kind of matches with prints, patterns and colours. From what I know then her coat is new. Had a strong feeling that it was a Prada design and now I have a proof, here. Beautifully she had chosen to wear accessories in burgundy. Gloves, suede belt, clutch and of course pumps were all in that incredibly stunning colour. The Hugo Boss clutch has been seen at several occasions before this such as the pointed Gianvito Rossi pumps. I have come to love Rossi's design more and more! Just a little funny thing to share, then she wore the belt here in 2015. As jewellery she wore diamond earrings from Hartmanns and three diamond rings where two of them are from  Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen. Such a beautiful outfit.

The Crown Prince couple attending the Presidential couple's dinner on occasion of the state visit

At 7:00 pm. local time, it was time for dinner. It was hosted by the Icelandic Presidential couple, H.E. Guðni Thorlacius Jóhannesson and Mrs Eliza Jean Reid in honor of the Queen and her husband. The return dinner is a tradition for both the hosting couple and the visiting couple. When Frederik and Mary are abroad somewhere in the world on an official state visit, they also host a return dinner the day before going back to Denmark. Never mind, back to the dinner in Copenhagen. It was taking place at North Atlantic Quay. Not only did the Crown Prince couple attend, also Prince Joachim and his wife Princess Marie and (of course) the Queen attended too. At the arrival everybody were warmly welcomed by the Icelandic Presidential couple, who really seemed to have been looking forward to this evening. Maybe it is a bit wrong calling it at dinner, it was more a reception really. The President gave a speech when everyone had arrived, where he among others thanked the Queen Margrethe for a couple of wonderful days.

Reception outfits are something Mary has had many years to practice and she has become really good at it. For sure the Crown Princess won my heart all over again. She was dressed in that smashing red lace dress from Dolce & Gabbana, worn once before the reception at North Atlantic Quay. It looks as magnificent as the first time. As a cape she was wearing her white Prada coat at the arrival, which was later taken off. Beautifully she accessorized the dress by wearing an embellished belt. Differently not something we have seen before. Now when we have a close up of her belt, here, it was possible to find out where it's from. I had Dolce & Gabbana in mind all along, but somehow I never looked to see if I could find it there. With a little belt and a quick search her belt has now been identify as the same designer as the dress. Matching both colour of the dress and belt (and berry lips), Mary had chosen a brand new Carlend Copenhagen clutch in burned orange. Even Frederik's tie matched his wife! The smashing golden earrings are from Dulong Fine Jewelry. Just like early during the day she wore diamond rings from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen. To make her outfit even more complete we have the beige Prada pumps. What else to say than outstanding!

Day 1. Official state visit from Iceland

Tuesday, January 24th

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary were present at a gala dinner hosted by Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik. It was taking place at Christian VIIs palace, Amalienborg, on occasion of the official state visit of the Icelandic President couple H.E. Guðni Thorlacius Jóhannesson and Mrs Eliza Jean Reid.

So days went by really quit for me which is why this post is a bit late. But better late, than never. Right? Well, Icelandic President couple H.E. Guðni Thorlacius Jóhannesson and Mrs Eliza Jean Reid payed Denmark a visit which lasted from January 24-26th. So only a couple of days. With this little time, much to see and many places to visit everything were planned minute by minute since they arrive to Copenhagen. The President couple were welcomed by Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik at Christian VIIs palace, shortly before noon. During their first day in Denmark Icelandic President couple visited Christiansborg castle, met with the Danish Prime Minster Lars Lykke Rasmussen and his wife. In the afternoon H.E. Guðni Thorlacius Jóhannesson and Mrs Eliza Jean Reid visited the Black Diamond (The Royal Library in Copenhagen) along with the Queen, where the Icelandic gift was given -one retranslation of the total Icelandic sagas.

In the end of a wonderful day for the Icelandic President couple they were invited as guests of honor to attend a gala dinner taking place at Christian VIIs palace, Amalienborg, with Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik as hosts. I was very delighted to see the the Prince also attended though his retirement last year. Prince Joachim and Princess Marie attended, such as Princess Benedikte and of course the Crown Prince couple. Over a hundred special guests were invited to celebrate the evening along with the President couple and the Danish royal family members. Traditionally the Queen gives a speech before the dinner begin, so did she this evening. The same did the Icelandic President -in Danish which is quite unusual, but really impressive.

Gala dinner means magnificent evening gowns and tiara's! I have read several comments on Mary's evening outfit and they are really different. Some think it's too boring and others love it. I am differently in the last category! I'm thrilled to see her in that reused skirt, first seen in 2005 on a trip to Australia here. According to Royals & Fashion it is an Oscar de la Renta design, something I have never heard before. Of course this does not mean that it's not true, just that I have never heard it before. Nevertheless, I think it makes everything about her figure even more dazzling. Love how it moves when she walks. I was so convinced that she had worn the skirt once more, after 2005, and with a little help the event has been found. It was in 2010 when Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik hosted a official state visit from Russia at they were invited to a gala dinner (also taking place at Amalienborg castle), here. At the occasion in 2010 she was wearing a similar lace top as she did at this dinner. Then we have to talk about jewellery for a moment. The tiara is the one bought on auction a couple of years ago, nothing new about that. What's really exciting are the earrings. To me they look new! Simply gorgeous. Would really love to see a close up. Sure you also noticed that the couple were wearing another ribbon than the usual light blue Order of the Elephant. This darker blue one is the Icelandic order called 'Icelandic Falcon Order'. All royal member wore this order.

Presentation of scholarships at Hotel d'Angleterre

Tuesday, January 17th

Crown Princess Mary attended the presentation of the Heart Association and the Children Foundation's scholarships. The ceremony took place at Hotel d'Angleterre, Copenhagen.

A day with the heart in focus. The Crown Princess had just been visiting Rigshospitalet where she was introduced the project Copenhagen Baby Heart, here.  As patron of both the Heart Association and the Children's Foundation she then attended the presentation of three research scholarships taking place at Hotel d'Angleterre. These were given to associate Professor and Chief Physician Kasper Iversen, Chief Physician Henrik Kjærulf and doctor and research associate Amalie Bøggild. Before the ceremony she got the change to meet some of the so called "heart-children", who are children born with a heart failure and their families. Mary took plenty of time to talk to the kids. They were having fun and I am pretty sure everyone had a great time. The kids seemed really seemed to enjoy some time along with the Crown Princess.

Because the ceremony at Hotel d'Angleterre along with the Heart Association and the Children's Foundation was taking place right after she visited Rigshospitalet, not much had changed when it comes to her outfit. She was still wearing that incredibly beautiful new printed blouse from Proenza and that black 3/4 coat, rather long, and a pair of black trousers. Embracing the style, Mary accessorized the look with leather pumps from Gianvito Rossi and a matching suede Hugo Boss clutch. When it comes to jewellery we have a pair of diamond earrings and a stunning diamond brooch which are told to be from Prince Henrik's mother. But as I have said before, it has not been confirmed. With fair skin, natural makeup and feminine curly hair Mary amazed me as always.

Copenhagen Baby Heart

Tuesday, January 17th

Crown Princess Mary visited the research project Copenhagen Baby Heart at Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen.

It was as patron of the Heart Association Crown Princess Mary visited Rigshospitalet on occasion of the new research project called Copenhagen Baby Heart. Parents are offered a heart scan of their newborn before the end of two weeks after the birth if they live in Copenhagen. The purpose of the project is to see if it is possible to track down heart defects in time and gather knowledge about child development. By visiting Rigshospitalet Mary had the opportunity to see for herself how the project is working in reality because she watched a heart scan of a newborn. With four children I think she knows exactly how important such a project like this can be for a child's life. The Crown Princess followed closely everything that was going on around her and also asked lots of questions along the way. Passioned as always.

Though the weather is nothing special really, Mary turned a cloudy and rainy into a bright and sunny day with her outfit! Despite the lack of colours I think it looks incredible; chic and modern. A bit minimalistic. So, what she did was combining a new printed blouse with a pair of black trousers. Actually very simple. Immediately I was drawn to her blouse, looks very interesting. I have not been able to find it on my own -I had some help with this one. I tried 10 or more different designers, but non of them was the one I was looking for. Then yesterday I received an email from the most lovely lady, sharing her possible findings on Mary's new blouse. I am in no doubt that she has found the right one at Proenza. A designer I think we have now seen for the first time. Believe she used the scarf as a belt, what a clever idea! Neither do I think we have seen that 3/4 sleeve jacket before. Or have I just forgotten? Love how the blouse sleeves are longer than the jacket. Makes a great detail. Another really beautiful detail is her diamond brooch, perfectly matching the earrings. The brooch are told to be a gift from her father-in-low and belonged to his mother, but it's only rumors. About the earrings, then I have never heart anything. What I know is that she also wore the day Princess Isabella was christened, here. Embracing the simple and minimalistic style she was wearing her brown pumps from Gianvito Rossi. I'm totally in love with her curly hair; looks so feminine and beautifully framing her face.

The Berlingske Foundation Honorary Award

Tuesday, January 10th

Crown Princess Mary received The Berlingske Foundation Honorary Award. The ceremony took place at Det Berlingske Hus in Copenhagen.

No doubt that Mary has shown her commitment to the Danish people right from the beginning. Shortly after her marriage with Frederik in 2014, she got engaged in social work, among other things resulted in the Mary Foundation's establishment in 2007. Since then she has become the patron of several international and national organizations as well as foundation's all working to provide, those who need it, a second chance in life. Now her work with as patron of disadvantaged and vulnerable groups in society is rewarded with the Berlingske Foundation Honorary Award! The award is given to someone who has done something unusual for the benefit of the Danish society and has been handed over since 1975. For sure Mary should be proud of herself and what she has achieved! She works hard and that should indeed be rewarded in my opinion. It is not strange at all Mary was in such great mood when she arrived at 3:00 pm local time to the award ceremony. In a well-spoken speech, here, she did not try to hide how honored she was. It was clear to me that the Crown Princess was very grateful to receive the award. A huge and laud congratulations to Mary on behalf of this prestigious honorary award.

It's worth mentioning that the Crown Prince couple attended dinner on occasion of the Mary's new award. According to Billed Bladet, here, the dinner took place at restaurant Le Sommelier near Amalienborg castle. The couple arrived around 7:00 pm. local time. From what I see Mary was dressed in a pair of black velvet trousers, a sparkly turtleneck blouse, metallic cap toe pumps from Gianvito Rossi and a pink Carlend Copenhagen clutch -perfectly matching her Annikat earrings! And the of course we have the black Prada coat, here.

What made this outfit outstanding is indeed the huge smile on her face! Which was beautifully framed by a berry lipgloss. Keeping the style sophisticated and classy she was wearing a brand new figure hugging Etro dress. Kate informed about the identity of the dress, thanks. Usually not something I would have chosen myself because of the pattern, but because the is black I think it works really well. Especially I'm in love with its length and 3/4 sleeves. The rather long dress makes a perfect match with the bit shorter black Prada coat. Very feminine. Maybe you did not notice it, but actually the dress features a belt too. Pretty sure this is not the last time we are going to see her in that specific dress. Both leather gloves, the Quidam clutch and her Gianvito Rossi pumps are black and looks super chic with the printed dress. Mary embraced the style by wearing her Cartier and Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen bracelets, three diamond rings and a pair of reused Dulong Fine Jewelry earrings featuring lovely blue pendants.

Launch of Antibulli

Saturday, January 7th

Crown Princess Mary participated in the launching of Antibulli along with the Mary Foundation and handball player Mikkel Hansen. The launching took place in Silkeborg.

Around noon the Crown Princess arrived to Vestergadehallen in Silkeborg to participate in the launching of a new project called Antibulli. The project is made in collaboration with the Mary Foundation MH24 - The association Mikkel Against Bullying which has handball player Mikkel Hansen as frontman. Antibulli are intended to strengthen unity and community among children in the Danish handball clubs. Maybe you remember having heard about this before, then it may be because you have heard about it before. The collaboration was announced a year ago and an interview with Mikkel Hansen and the Crown Princess were broadcasted on Danish television. Now it was finally time to test drive the project; here children, handball coaches and parents showed up to try out this new project. From what I see, it was a success. Everybody participating including Mary seemed to have a great time. A great start of something I think will continue as a success. I wish all involved in the project all the best and of course, congratulations!

Just a couple of days ago Mary was dressed in the most outstanding evening gown featuring expensive fabrics, lace and tulle. Completely different we saw her wear jeans, a black and white Hummel t-shirt and a pair of colourful New Balance sneakers at the launching in Silkeborg. Isn't this why we just adore her so much? Never too royal to show up wearing everyday jeans and sneakers. Dressed like all the others. At the arrival Mary wore a black coat from Hugo Boss featuring leather pockets -an edgy detail! I simply love when we see her all casual like this. But no outfit without something glittering which is why she was wearing her Cartier bracelet and a pair of Hartmanns diamond earrings. I would love to wear a casual outfit and diamond earrings with such elegance as she does, but it never works as good as for Mary. Think we saw a very comfortable Crown Princess, having a great time in Silkeborg.

Day 3. New Year's reception at Christiansborg castle

Wednesday, January 4th

Queen Margrethe hosted the fourth New Year's reception taking place at Christiansborg castle. Officers from the Defence and Emergency Management Agency, I., II. and III. social class and invited representatives of major union confederations and patronages were invited to attend the reception. Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary represented the royal family along with the Queen.

It was more than an overwhelming end of some fantastic days here at the beginning of new year. We have got three amazing days only dedicated to celebrate the end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017. This last New Year's reception, which took place at Christiansborg castle as the third reception did, was held to honor officers from the Defence and Emergency Management Agency, I., II. and III. social class and invited representatives of major union confederations and patronages. More than 700 guests were invited. That many people can only be invited if you have a big house, like a castle. Luckily the Queen of Denmark has plenty of those. Talking about Queen Margrethe, then it is worth mentioning that she arrived in a golden carriage like she always do on the third day. She drove all the way from Amalienborg castle to Christiansborg castle, where she (of course) arrived as the last one, right after the Crown Prince couple.

Only a few days past January 1st and we have already seen some dazzling new and reused pieces! What's so exciting about Mary when it comes to fashion and a reason why I admire her so much, is differently because she always manages to surprise and impress all at once. Seems like she never has to compromise 'fashion solutions'. She is always well-dressed and good looking no matter where she is going. Also when she is attending a huge reception with 700 special invited guests like this. Mary shone wearing a brand new plum gown created by Lasse Spangenberg Copenhagen -and yes, it has been confirmed, here. A figure hugging dress, floor length and simply gorgeous new gown. Perfectly matching she embrace the glamours style wearing a cape from the same designer. The very same we saw on January 1st. Splendid, right? Completely adoring she accessorized her look with black pearl jewellery from Dulong Fine Jewelry and modified ruby earrings as part of the Ruby Parure. I also see two more bracelets; one from Cartier and one from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen. Heaven made me aware the her burgundy clutch is from Sergio Rossi, thanks! Then we have the suede burgundy Gianvito Rossi pumps. Both makeup and hair were flawless as usual.

Day 2. New Year's reception at Amalienborg & Christiansborg

Tuesday, January 3rd

Queen Margrethe hosted two New Year's receptions. Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary were present at both receptions which took place at Amalienborg castle and later on at Christiansborg castle.

Program
  • 9:50 am. Queen Margrethe, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended a New Year's reception for Justices, The Royal Guard and the regiments Officer Corps at Amalienborg.
  • 11:30 am. Queen Margrethe, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary were present at the New Year's reception for diplomacy at Christiansborg castle.

Crown Prince Frederik & Crown Princess Mary attending the New Year's reception at Amalienborg

Second best thing, after the big New Year's Banquet has to be the three other New Year's receptions taking place the following days. For the Queen and the Crown Prince couple the day began with a reception for Justices, The Royal Guard and the regiments Officer Corps taking place at Christian VIIs palace, Amalienborg -the same palace where the big Banquet were celebrated.

I have commented on her beautiful outfit further down in the post.

Crown Prince Frederik & Crown Princess Mary attending the New Year reception at Christiansborg

Unlike previous, we got plenty of pictures from the second reception taking place at Christiansborg castle -the same place as for the Danish Parliament. It was around noon, 11:30 pm local time, the Queen and the Crown Prince couple arrived, here, to attend a reception for the diplomacy. Special invited guests from 75 different nations participated. The three royal family members arrived last and before before the reception began, each and everyone were welcomed with a handshake given by Margrethe, Frederik and Mary. This little ceremony was followed by a speech given by H.E. Ms Mina Marie Baldé Laurent. She is ambassador of the Ivory Coast. As the longest serving ambassador is she in charge of the speech on behalf of diplomacy. Queen Margrethe also gave a speech, thanking Ms Laurent and the diplomancy.

With more than 75 nationalities from all over the world gathered at one reception, we get a unique opportunity to see clothes in all colours and patterns. Something that makes this event more than special. Indeed we saw some amazing national costumes! Because the Queen loves coloured clothes this much, I imagine she was impressed by the variety or colour combinations and patterns. Not quite as colourful, yet absolutely stunning, we have Crown Princess Mary in her grey gown. And wauw! First thing that hit me was the magnificent waist line. Such an innovative way to create a gown never seen before. I simply love the way two different materials matched each other in this one dress. Maybe you even recognize this Julie Fagerholt creation? Because actually it is a reused gown, worn by Mary at several previously occasions in 2008, 20102012 and 2013. But at that time it was a two-piece evening gown -jacket and a the dress. This time she wore it without the jacket. And as you see on the old pictures the top has now been changes and I really fancy "the new look". Perfectly matching the floor-length gown she embrace the style by wearing suede Gianvito Rossi pumps, a grey Hugo Boss clutch and earrings from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen. Incredibly beautiful! For hours I could comment on this look, but I will leave it to you.

What do you think? Are you as impressed as I am?

Day 1. New Year's Banquet at Amalienborg castle

Sunday, January 1st

Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik hosted the first, of four, New Year's reception for the government, representatives of the official Denmark and the court at Christian VII's Palace, Amalienborg. Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended just as Prince Joachim and Princess Marie did.

First of all it is time for me to wish you all a Happy New Year! I hope you had the most wonderful evening along with your friends and family. Unbelievable that the calendar already says 2017. I really look forward to share one more year in your company. Once again, a Happy New Year everybody!

Well, a new year also means three days with New Year receptions for the royal family including the biggest evenings of them all: the New Year's Banquet at Christian VII's Palace, Amalienborg. The ultimate evening! Already around 6 pm. local time the guests started to arrive and about 5 minutes before the dinner began the royal family members arrived. First Prince Joachim and Princess Marie, followed by the Crown Prince couple and then, last but not least Queen Margrethe and her husband Prince Henrik. It was all broadcasted live on Danish television, with me glued to the screen (as usual). One day I hope I will get the chance to be there myself and watch them arrive. Maybe one day. They all dazzled looking their absolute best! No doubt that this is my favourite evening.
The royal family share a couple of pictures, here, taken from the inside of Christian VII's Palace, showing a beautifully decorated table and a room ready to host a magnificent dinner.

Speaking about the most incredible evening, we also have to speak about splendid outfit. Indeed we saw overwhelmingly outfit and many of them are worth mentioning, but I'll leave the commenting to you. My specialty is royal outfits and I am really thrilled to be the one talking about Princess Marie's, Crown Princess Mary's and Queen Margrethe's evening look with you. Let's take talk about Princess Marie first. She was wearing a grey gown that surprised me. Not something I'd expected, but wauw she made it work. What a figure, not much to hide, but I doubt there is anything to hide. Then we have the Queen in one of her reused taffeta gowns. That colour looks just amazing on her. For sure she is a Queen! Now our Queen-to-be, Crown Princess Mary in her dazzling golden dream of a gown. The very same dress as she wore on the Marco Grop portrait, here, created by Jesper Høvring. Mary got her very own version of one of his dressed from his Aw2016 collection, here. Since we first saw it on the photograph, my only wish to see her wear it for a occasion like this and we did along with a brand new cape made from Lasse Spangenberg Copenhagen! It perfectly matched the golden gown and the Ruby Parure. And look how beautifully the hemline is. Sorry to say to you who didn't like this, but I really do. Even with the black tulle underneath. I also see a Cartier bracelet as well as a Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen diamond bracelet. Till anything else tell's otherwise, her clutch is the one from Judith Leiber. The only thing I have not been able to find out about is what pair of shoes she was wearing, but they look golden or maybe metallic. With makeup and hairstyle, Mary is my number one!
