Summer photocall at Gråsten Castle

Saturday, July 25th

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended the annual summer photocall at Gråsten Castle with all four children.

The day I have been waiting for, for a long time, is finally here -the annual summer photocall of the royal family who's on vacation at Gråsten Castle in South of Jutland. Yesterday I expressed that I I hoped to see Prince Joachim and Princess Marie with their children, but I assume that they are on holiday somewhere else because they did not appear today. The daughter of Princess Benedikte, Princess Alexandra, and her husband Count Jefferson, as well as her two children Count Richard and Countess Ingrid also stay at Gråsten these days along with the rest of the family. The weather is pretty bad in Denmark these days and the family also had to postpone the meeting with the press because of the rain. But I am optimistic, rainy days are also beautiful. The weather certainly had not ruined the mood of the royal family. The children had so fun and the adults seemed to have had a great time as well.

The first thing I noticed when I saw the first pictures from today, is that everyone was dressed in matching colours. All of them embraced orange, blue, pink and white. If I were you, I'd take a second look at the pictures where we see all of them. Princess Josephine, with her broken arm, was dressed in a orange and green Poppy Rose dress, here, which was identified by Kate and Lurdes. Her hair was in a sweet french side braid, Princess Isabella had a similar hairstyle. If you like it as much as I do, I have found this guide to you. Have fun! When we talk about this wonderful young lady -Princess Isabella, she was in a fantastic white lace dress from Little Remix, here, also identified by Kate. She was also the one who found out that Prince Vincent is wearing a Pili Carrera shirt, here.

I love that Frederik and Mary were wearing similar colours -white and navy blue. I know that some of you had a wish, to see her in a short dress today. I was actually hoping for something long because Mary looks so great in maxi dresses or as in this case, skits. It's not the first time at the annual summer photocall she's wearing maxi-clothes. Last year, she was in a maxi-dress by Ganni, here, and in 2012 in a dress from Free People, here. Today she was dressed in a By Malene Birger maxi skirt identified by Reines & Princesses. Zara is the designer of her new white lace blouse identified by Kate. Funny thing: it was much easier to find the kids clothes then Mary's this time. She embrace the casual look with a few jewellery. Two of the three necklaces are from Orit Elhanati and Marianne Dulong. The silver necklace with the pendant could be a gift from when she visited Ethiopia in February. Her silver diamond ring is from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen and the golden one is from I'm Jewel. The bracelets are from, among others, Anni Lu. She topped of the outfit with black ballet flats, a simple hairstyle and natural makeup.

Changing of the guard at Gråsten castle

Friday, July 24th
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary are on vacation with their four children at Gråsten castle and today the royals watched changing of the guard.

As you know I have a special love for this vacation. It has become kind of a tradition for the royal family members to watch the changing of the guard at Gråsten. I remember when Princess Isabella was only a few years old, she was wearing a red dress and played with a red ballon. It ran off and a guard caught it and handed it over to her, here. A moment I haven't forgot all these years. The Crown Prince family are now joined by the Queen and Prince Henrik who arrived from a visit to Greenland. I have seen some pictures from the visit and I really think the couple had a good time visiting Greenland. The Crown Prince couple also seems to enjoy their vacation in Denmark along with all four children. I like the fact that they are protecting the kids from the photographers and journalists. Now I might sound old, but to see the kids grow up is fantastic. Prince Christian is now a young man similar to his dad, just like his brother Prince Vincent though he is a bit more shy. I really enjoy the pictures from today when the family watched changing of the guard. Everyone of them seems to be in a really good mood. Another thing I look forward is to see the family once again tomorrow at the annual summer photocall. Maybe we also get the change to see Prince Joachim and Princess Marie with their children. I hope so.

Both Prince Christian and Prince Vincent were dressed in similar clothes as their father. Prince Vincent probably wore a shirt from Poppy Rose, here. While their sister Princess Isabella wore a Poppy Rose blouse and a Norlie, here, skirt similar to Mary. Princess Josephine even wore the same sandals as her sister thought she was wearing shorts and a white lace blouse like her brothers. One thing I noticed is how well-dressed they all are -also Mary. She kinda surprised me with what she wore during her day at Gråsten. A really lovely outfit. A new A-line skirt and a matching blouse featuring the same beautiful print. With help from Ida, I learned that Mary's popular set is from the Danish designer SAND Copenhagen. Thank you so much Ida for your help, it's very much appreciated. I would love to add the set to my personal wardrobe. Burgundy is one of my favourite colours. I think it could be a set you either really like or hate. What's your opinion? She matched the new floral set with her beige suede wedges from Tod's. She embrace the style by wearing a necklace from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen, two bracelets from Anni Lu and a new one from jewellery designer Charlotte Wæhrens. Thanks to Pernille and Kate for sharing your findings with me. Another thing I would like to learn, is how to get my hair as Mary's. I love this casual hairstyle, but I haven't learned the trick yet. Some day I will. A wonderful example of how to look fabulous in your spare time.

Most Danes are on vacation right now and I really also look forward that is soon is my turn to pack a suitcase and travel to another country to experience something new and exciting. This year I'm going to Belgium with my family. The holiday-time is such a great time a year because you get to spend time with your family and often see a new country where you are about the experience a new culture. When I'm on holiday, me and my family loves to see some historical things, to experience the soul of the country we are in.

The royal family are also on vacation. This year they moved into Gråsten castle which is a bit unusual. Most year they are at the wine castle Cayx in France, owned by the family of Prince Henrik. I love that the Crown Prince couple show their children that a vacation in Denmark is just as good as anywhere else. I'm sure Frederik and Mary enjoying some time with their children and the other way around. For the family to break their vacation and attend a event like the Gråsten parade today is great. They take the time to meet the participants and those Danes who attend the parade. It is also a bit special that all four children are there, they have all there childhood been protected from the public and press. All four children seemed to really enjoy the day. Princess Isabella and her two younger siblings, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine with her broken arm, greeted many of the participants of the parade, while Prince Christian enjoyed the day close to his father. Actually I do not live that far from Gråsten castle, unfortunately I did not have the time to see them. Maybe I will get the chance again.

One thing I noticed was both Mary, Christian, Josephine and Isabella were wearing green turquoise colour. The remarkable colour was worn by the two princesses with each their dress from Poppy Rose, here. Honestly, there is something really cute about the two princesses wearing the same dress. I just hope it is their own decision. The dresses were identified by Kate. Princess Isabella topped her look off with a hairdo and golden sandals and Princess Josephine in her sweet dress wore silver metallic sandals and loose hair. In the same colour as his sisters dresses Prince Christian was in green turquoise shorts and a shirt like this dad. Frederik wore long trousers in blue as his son Prince Vincent.
Then we have Mary. In her new creamy shirtdress featuring a significant and stunning pattern she totally won my heart. Heaven found her dress at Julie Fagerholt Heartmde (Spring/Summer 2015). Looks all comfortable and nice to wear. Though it is rather casual, it looks crazy beautiful on her. With a pair of beige suede wedges from Tod's she embrace the style of the perfect outfit. As other accessorizes Mary had chosen to wear a couple of necklaces from Marianne DulongMD & Daughters and Orit Elhanati. Love how she mixed all three necklaces; makes a great statement. As the turquoise pendant, she wore a ring i the same shade. This we first saw about a year earlier at the annual photo session at Gråsten castle along with the rest of the family, here. I could not be more happy about this look than I am right now. I wouldn't mind wearing this any time during summer.

Vacation at Gråsten castle

It is a tradition for Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary to stay for a few days at Gråsten Castle along with the rest of the Danish family. This year the vacation is a bit more unusual then the past years, because the royal couple are actually moved into the castle for the summer. We have already seen Mary and Frederik riding, Mary bicycling with Prince Christian, Princess Isabella and the twins where she wore a new lovely knitted blouse I have found at JOSEPH, here. Then the news came that Princess Josephine broke her left arm because of a riding accident, but she's doing fine.

Then we saw the family, except Princess Isabella, on a bike ride. When mom and dad are coming King and Queen of Denmark, I think it's great for the four royal children to spend some time with their parents outside public -even though some photos have been published. I'm sure Mary and Frederik have the same feeling when it comes to spend time with their children. We all love the summer and our vacation. I will not be sharing any pictures because they need their privacy. Instead I will share a little history about Gråsten castle with you.

Gråsten Castle

The original Gråsten Castle has its history back to the 1500s and was a relatively small hunting castle. In 1603, a new castle was built since the former hunting castle was burned down the same year. It is believed to be built where the current castles south wing is located today. From 1662-1682 the castle was owned by Chancellor Frederik Ahlefeldt (1623-1689) and his son built a large Baroque palace - also burned down in the 1757th. Chancellor Frederik Ahlefeldt was a knight of the Order of the Elephant, the most prestigious in Denmark. The Castle Church and a few pavilions were the only thing left after the fire in 1757. The current Gråsten castle is dated from 1759, where a new south wing was built and in 1842 the central building was built. The castle have had several owners. From 1725-1852 it was owned by the August Citizens (Augustenborgerne) where Frederik 7. took over the castle. The August Citizens became the owners again in 1864. 1920, the government took over the castle and it was used for courtrooms, library and housing for judges and the police chiefs.

Then Gråsten castle underwent a large renovation and in 1935 the palace was given as a summer residence for the then Crown Prince couple - Crown Prince Frederik 8th and Princess Ingrid. Until the death of Queen Ingrid, the castle has been used as a royal summer residence. Today Queen Margrethe is the owner and keep the tradition and stay there every year. The family is also invited such as this year.

Old news: Dressage at Broholm Castle

Thursday, June 11th

Crown Princess Mary attended annual dressage at Broholm castle.

About a month ago Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary were invited to attend this years royal wedding in Sweden between Prince Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist on June 13th. Two days before the Crown Princess visited Broholm castle to attend the annual DM rally in dressage. It was an unofficial event. Apparently, the Crown Princess is an annual guest. Caroline Heering and Mette Ahlefeldt-Laurvig also attended to watch the dressage. Friday after lunch Crown Princess Mary arrived to Amalienborg Castle once again to attend the royal wedding the next day.

During the couple of days she spend at Broholm, she was dressed very casual, but magnificent as always. A great inspiration if you like some for you next everyday look. One of the days she was wearing a denim blue blazer which I, finally, have found at Hugo Boss. For a long time I was so sure Hugo Boss was the designer I was looking for, but unfortunately it has taken me quite a while to find pictures of the model. She matched the blazer with a white pleated Style Butler blouse and black trousers. The outfit was accessorized with Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses and Marianne Dulong earrings.

Her second outfit was a pair of black trousers, a white blouse and a dark green jacket which I think could be from Strenesse, but I am not quite sure. She embrace a chic style by wearing her brown leather Ralph Lauren bag and the the Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses. Two outfits I would love to see her wear any time, at any occasion.

Sometimes it really does not matter how many pictures we are able to find, but at such an event it is simply frustrating. First of all are the royal couple attending a special performance in the Opera in Copenhagen, followed by a dinner which means an a little more unofficial dress-coat. Secondly, because the word 'special' (or maybe even unique) is mentioned. Everything special is just way more exciting for us. Fortunately, this does not mean we haven't got any pictures at all, because we do. and for that am I very grateful. Because the event took place in the Opera house which is placed right across where the Crown Prince couple live at Amalienborg; they took a small boat and crossed water where they arrived to the Opera right before the performance was about to begin. The couple were met by multiple attendances, who all wanted a glimpse of the royal couple. The weather was perfect and from what I see, the couple seemed to enjoyed themselves. Please, could we get more of these evening event?

Almost every single time Mary appear somewhere, I am amazed by her elegance, appearance, personality and style. Think many of us have a dream that a real princess wear a huge pink tulle gown and a tiara. Despite she was not wearing nor gown or tiara I have come to fall in love with that pink Prada (Fall 2004) dress. From what recall, this is the fifth time she's wearing the dress -1) 2004, Summer Ballet at Bellevue Theatre, 2) Around 2006 at a christening, 3) 2008, Royal Lifeguard 350th anniversary and 4) 2013, Day 3 on a visit to Malaysia. When do you think she wore it better? I have a hard time deciding which one I like the most. She embrace the style by wearing a pair of long earrings and her very expensive Piaget diamond necklace. This we saw for the first time in 2013 when she attended the presentation of the Carlsberg Foundations Research Award, here. Arriving to the boat from Amalienborg to the Opera, she was also wearing a pair of Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses. A lovely detail! As the dress is her pink clutch from Prada, the same as worn in 2012 when attending Save a Mother's Life at Mother's Day, here. After a really long time starring at her shoes am I pretty sure I have found them at Gianvito Rossi. Not only is the outfit outstanding; her hairstyle is also magnificent. Very impressive.

By the way, I made a new post at Royalista about christening, here.
