Day 2. Work visit in Ethiopia

27 March

During the day

Crown Princess Mary is visiting Ethiopia from March 26-27th. On her work visit she is accompanied by Danish Minister of Development Cooporation, Ulla Tørnæs.

The previous day the two of them visited Addis Ababa. On Wednesday the Crown Princess and Minister of Development Cooporation arrived to Shire, in Tigray - one of the cities in Ethiopia where most people of refugee populations are located. In Shire Crown Princess Mary payed a visit to, among others, a school in the refugee camp. The school became a reality because of a collaboration between Dansk Flygtninge, Norsk Flygtningehjælp, ARRA and UNHCR.

As part of her visiting the school in Shire, she planted a tree. Six students and the Minister of Development Cooporation helped out with the tree.

Crown Princess Mary also visited a home for unaccompanied minors, who have often fled on their own to be reunited with family members who, in some cases, have fled several years in advance.

During the day in Shire, Tigray, Mary embraced a practical outfit. A pair of convertible trousers and a simple blue button-down shirt. Comfortable sneakers, shapes and a mesh bun complimented a busy day in the Ethiopian sun.

Evening dinner

In the evening, Crown Princess Mary attended, as guest of honor, at dinner at Ethiopia's President Sahle-Work Zewde. She became Ethiopia's first female president last year. The Ethiopian government has ambitions to create equal opportunities socially and economically, and more and more women in Ethiopia are marking this as entrepreneurs and business leaders.

Crown Princess Mary enjoyed the evening along with, among others, Sahle-Work Zewde (Ethiopia's President) and Ulla Tørnæs (Danish Minister of Development Cooporation).

At her last event in Ethiopia, Mary shined in a printed dress and matching accessories. All four women attending had dressed in printed and colorful outfits. A great way to finish off an unofficial work visit.

Day 1. Work visit in Ethiopia

26 March

During the day

Crown Princess Mary is on an unofficial work visit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on March 26-27th. The visit focuses on equality, health care and rights for girls and women. She is accompanied by, among others, Danish Minister of Development Cooporation Ulla Tørnæs. The two of them both visited a fertility clinic and a reproductive health center, here, and attended a meeting with female business executives and entrepreneurs, here. Crown Princess Mary also had the honor to attend a meeting in the Parliament.

From everything I see, she was in a splendid mood during her first day in Ethiopia. She was all smiles. What I read is that the Crown Princess impressed everybody with her presence. Seems like it was one big experience for her being in Addis Ababa.

Looks like Crown Princess Mary and Minister of Development Cooporation, Ulla Tørnæs started the day with a run in the streets of Addis Ababa, here.

The last time Mary visited Africa, she stayed in Kenya (here & here). She was all casual dressed in sneakers, button-down shirts and simple colours. So did she this time. Both herself and her companion, Ulla Tørnæs, embraced some printed skirts and plain blouses. No doubt that Mary knows how to dress for success.

Reception

In the evening, Crown Princess Mary and travel partner Ulla Tørnæs, Minister of Development Cooporation attended a reception hosted by Karin Poulsen, the Danish ambassador in Ethiopia. The reception took place at Karin Poulsen's place in Addis Ababa. The Crown Princess was warmly welcomed with smiles, flowers and handshakes. Pictures shows that she gave a speech as part of the reception. Billed-Bladet made a short footage of her evening in Addis Ababa, here.

As guest of honor she dressed up for the evening wearing yet another colourfull, printed skirt and a simple white button-down. She embraced the style with sandals, a matching bag and hoop earrings. A comfortable and chic outfit for an evening in Ethiopia.

Workshop on social norms

19 March

The previous day, Crown Princess Mary attended the opening of Green Challenge, here. On Tuesday she then participated a workshop on social norms with the Mary Foundation and close collaborators. It took place at Amalienborg Castle in Copenhagen.

Crown Princess Mary had invited Professor Ben Cislaghi from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He is an expert in, among others things, the influence of social norms on our health. Chief psychologist, Ditte Charles from the Psychiatric Foundation also participated the workshop with a presentation on how social norms are so important to us and why it is not always easy to break with the social norms of society. That is some of the things the Mary Foundation shared themselves in the Facebook-post below on occasion of the workshop.

Later she met with the new CEO of Dansk Flygtningehjælp, Agi Csonka and Secretary General, Christian Friis Bach and Communications Director Annette Spanggaard, here. Crown Princess Mary has been patron for Dansk Flygtningehjælp for quite some time. She was given an insight into the global refugee situation and several of the organization's activities that should function as lasting solutions for refugees around the world. In addition, the meeting also had focus on upcoming activities.

Mary seemed in a wonderful mood during Tuesday's workshop. She was center of attention in that brand new floral printed blouse. It is not the frist time we see her in bright colours for such meetings or gatherings. And it works every single time. This one was found by Samantha at Erdem. Just look at those sleeves and that print. I am stunned. Erdem made everything work perfectly with both colours, prints and shape. I truly understand why Mary (probably) fell in love with this new blouse. She matched it with grey fitted trousers. They look like they were literally painted on her legs.

Really beautiful to match a dark red colour with grey. Don't you think? My guess is that she wore black pumps, but in fact Mary styled her outfit with matching grey pumps. She also embraced the style by wearing earrings and diamond rings from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen, a golden Cartier bangle and a bracelet from Dulong Fine Jewelry.

The launch of "Green Challenge"

18 March

Crown Princess is back home from Texas. Meanwhile her husband is in Argentina along with his mother, Crown Princess Mary arrived to University of Copenhagen to attend the launch of Green Challenge.

Green Challenge is a research competition which aims to solve some of the climate- and environmental challenges the world is facing. Researchers will collaborate with companies and organizations to compete to develop the three best solutions that benefit both the environment and climate. The competition runs until 2023. The best solution will be rewarded with 9 million Danish kroner to realize the research solution technologically and commercially.

During her visit at University of Copenhagen, she was accompanied by Danish Minster of Education and Research, Tommy Ahlers. Both of them showed great interested in what they were told and shown. As always Crown Princess Mary was in a brilliant mood - sincere, committed and curious.

KongehusetRoyals & StyleDaily MailBilled BladetFrederik et Mary

One of my favourite dresses. A grey tweed dress from Prada. It features the most incredible and fashionable details. I really love it with its collar and black belt. About now Mary has worn it on four different occasions. The first time was in 2015 at the Global Network of Women's Shelters' Conference, here. Second time was at Women's Board Award in 2016, here. The following year she wore it again presenting WHO Award, here. Again in 2018 Mary showed up in her tweed Prada dress in Strasbourg, here.

She embraced the style by wearing stunning diamond earrings. They were sold on a Bruun Rasmussen Auction a couple of years ago. Beautiful earrings shaped as flowers. One bracelet is from Dulong Fine Jewelry and another one is from Cartier. For some time I had Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen in mind for the third diamond bangle. Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen is also the designer of her two diamond rings. Simple, yet elegant.

As other accessories she wore an old Prada clutch and chic Pura Lopez pumps. I wouldn't mind wearing these pumps myself with a pair of fitted jeans and a silk-crepe blouse. How would you style such a pair of pumps?

Day 3. Business and cultural promotion in Texas

13 March

Crown Princess Mary already enjoyed two days in both Austin and Houston, Texas.

The finial day has come. In the morning she arrived to attend the launch of a health care collaboration between Texas and Denmark. It took place at Texas Medical Center. That is the world's largest hospital with more than 100,000 employees working with leading treatment programs. Multiple opportunities to collaborate was discussed as part of the launch. The Crown Princess also got a chance to meet with CEO of Texas Medical Center, William McKeon.

A couple of hours later, Crown Princess Mary arrived to attend the conference CERAWeek about energi. Several Danish companies participated the conference along with the Crown Princess. At CERAWeek solutions were shared and discussed by all the participating companies, scientists, politicians, etc. The Crown Princess also entered the stage herself and held a speech.

In the afternoon, she attended the opening of 'Statecraft: Selections from the Jewelry Collection of the Danish Arts Foundation' at Houston Center for Contemporary Crafts. The exhibition shows a unique collection from the Danish Arts Foundation from mid 20th century till today.

From what I see, it looks like the Crown Princess really enjoyed her last day. From early morning till late afternoon she was one big smile. My guess is that she had some wonderful days in Texas. About a month from now she is joined by her husband on a trip to South Korea. I already look forward to another trip abroad.

I have been surprised over and over again during her stay in Texas. She has worn so many incredible and stylish outfits from the very first day. Lots of new pieces of clothes and old goodies. Taking a look at her last-day-outfit I have to go with this as my favourite. Love the match of colours, silhouettes and textures. Mary embraced the style by wearing a brand new dotted blouse and a fitted light blue pencil skirt. Heaven managed to identified the new blouse as Munthe. Think it got a cool 70s vibe featuring puffed sleeves. Heaven also found Mary's new blue skirt. She identified it as Hugo Boss (collection: BOSS). This I am crazy about. Wish I had one myself. Looks really great with the light fabric blouse.

This is one of the most complete outfits I think we have seen in a very long time. She looks comfortable and confident. The accessories also matched with great perfection. Mary styled her look with matching Pomellato earrings and a ring in gold with blue stones. Smashing. I also see a golden Cartier bangle and a Dulong Fine Jewelry bracelet. The two other ones are troubling. Let me know what you think. Quidam is the designer of her beautiful leather clutch. Time has proved that Prada created those incredible pumps. Mary won my heart with this outfit.

Day 2. Business and cultural promotion in Texas

12  March

During the day

For three days, the Crown Princess is on a business and cultural visit in Austin and Houston, Texas, USA. About now she has attended both an event to promote women leaders, payed a visit to 'Danish Gastronomy - A Michelin experience' and met with Texas' Governor, here.

On Tuesday, March 11, Crown Princess Mary had traveled to Houston. She was warmly welcomed with a meeting with Houstons Mayor, Sylvester Turner at Houston City Hall. What a friendly and smiling man Sylvester Turner. I am sure he was more than proud to welcome the Crown Princess to his city and tell her all about how wonderful it is. As part of the welcoming ceremony she also attended the launch of a collaboration between Houston and Denmark focusing on urban development and climate adaptation. It is all about sharing visions, ideas and technology to be able to withstand climate changes. And really, Crown Princess Mary was in a great spirit. She was all smiles and happy eyes.

Meeting Houstons Mayor at the arrival to Houston Mary had chosen to wear one of her old floral dresses. A dress that comes from Giambattista Valli. She first wore this beautiful dress when the French Presidential couple visited Copenhagen last year, here. Back then she embraced the style by wearing black pointed pumps and a matching box clutch. This year in Houston black had turned into nude accessories instead. Both the ostrich clutch from Naledi Copenhagen and leather pumps from Prada have been seen the previous day.

Once again we got a chance to get a look at her other accessories. Her diamond earrings are an old pair created by Danish Dulong Fine Jewelry. They go way back. Its pendant is removable and can be replaced with different stones. Through the years we have both seen them worn with a diamond pendant, one in coral, rose quartz, etc. Two bracelets worn at the event in Houston are also from Dulong Fine Jewelry. I would not be surprised if pictures would show her golde Cartier bangle as well. I was just not able to find one. Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen made two fo her diamond rings. The third one I have never identified.

Gala dinner

Crown Princess Mary's first day in Texas was packed from early morning till late in the evening. Her second day wasn't as busy. First she was welcomed by Houstons Mayor, Sylvester Turner. Later she attended the launch of a future collaboration between Houston and Denmark with purpose to share knowledge and solutions on climate changes.

In the evening, the Crown Princess was invited as guest of honor to attend a gala dinner on behalf of her visit. She arrived to Houston Museum of Fine Arts, where the dinner was about to take place. After she was welcomed herself, Crown Princess Mary placed in line and welcomed other guests.

Official representatives and Danish companies working with green energy and pharmaceuticals  and medical equipment also attended the gala dinner along with the Crown Princess.

Mary stunned at the gala dinner. She arrived like Hollywood star in her reused Jesper Høvring gown. It has been two years since we first saw that inducible gown. Do you remember her wearing it when the King and Queen of Belgium visited Copenhagen in 2017, here? Mary had chosen to style her evening gown with black glitter pumps from Pura Lopez and a matching box clutch from Sergio Rossi. She reused the pumps from the previous day.

Cartier created that magnificent golden bangle and Dulong Fine Jewelry made the other one. Stunning pieces. Both earrings, bracelet and ring matched in colour. Purple stones and diamonds are a lovely combo. Never thought these two colours would look good together, but they really do.

Love her curly hairstyle. I often miss these feminine hairstyles, but we rarely sees them. Now we did and it looks beautiful. She even accessorized her hairstyle with, what I believe is a, PICO Copenhagen French hair-comb. I like what I see. Do you?

Day 1. Business and cultural promotion in Texas

11 March

During the day

A couple of months ago it was announced that Crown Princess Mary was going on a business and cultural promotion visit in Austin and Houston, Texas, USA. Now it was time for the american people to welcome the very own: Crown Princess of Denmark. The visit last from March 11-13th.

I guess she arrived that Sunday evening to be ready for the following days activities in Austin. Monday morning Crown Princess Mary arrived to House of Scandinavia, which is a pop-up lounge that brings together activities that are based on Nordic sustainable solutions. Here she attended an early meeting entitled 'Women in Leadership & How to Inspire the Nest Generation of Women Leaders' with propose to women leaders potential as rolemodels. The Crown Princess was accompanied by among others Danish Minister of Culture, Mette Bock, the Danish ambassador in the United States, Henrik Hahn Brahmsen and EU Commissioner, Margrethe Vestager.

Crown Princes Mary also attended the worlds most important festival South by Southwest or SXSW. This is the festival to go to for tech, film, gastronomy and art. More than 280,000 people don't lie, right? And then it all takes place in Austin. Denmark was this year also a significant representative at the festival.

Embed from Getty Images

What an outfit. What a start. Mary dazzled in a great combination of both new and old pieces. I am sure you noticed her new blue and green coat right away. So did I. Do you like it? Think it got some kinda exciting vibe. Heaven managed to identify Mary's brand new coat as Baum und Pferdgarten. A designer we have not seen in quite awhile. She matched the new coat with fitted black trousers and a reused black blouse. Both pieces are still not identified. Or at least not by me.

She embraced the style by wearing lots of stunning jewellery, such as other smashing accessories. Katerina Pitzner is the designer of her that infinity diamond necklace. Beautiful work. Luckily I've got a closeup showing Mary's jewellery. I am able to tell you about four or her five worn bracelets. She is an expensive lady with all that golden bracelets. One is from Cartier and the three others are created by Dulong Fine Jewelry. The fifth diamond bangle could be an Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen design, here. But Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen is for sure the one who made the two diamond rings.

Nina Ricci designed Mary's lovely green cross-shoulder bag. Mary has also worn it a a clutch on a few others occasions prior to this one. Heaven suggested to me that her new chunky heel pumps are from Jimmo Choo and I think she hit homerun. For a long time I wanted to add a similar pair of shoes to my wardrobe, but somehow Mary makes it work way better than I do. Now I them even more.

Meeting the Governor

Around noon Crown Princess Mary was officially welcomed by Texas Governor, Greg Abbott and his wife in the governor's residence. Seems like it was a true pleasure for all three of them to meet. The Crown Princess was one big smile such as Greg Abbott was. I am sure the Governor and his wife were happy to welcome the Crown Princess and tell her little about Texas.

An hour or so later she experienced the performance 'Tow with the Flow' that focuses on over-consumption and sustainability in clothing production and fashion. The performance shows 17 custom-made suits prepared by the Scandinavian design studio Sur Le Chemin.

Before attending a late reception Crown Princess Mary was present at Nordic Music Showcase. Five Nordic bands performed presented by the Danish music festival Roskilde Festival. The Crown Princess opened it all with a speech.

Meeting the Governor and his lovely wife, Mary was beautifully dressed in a brand new dress. One day has almost passed and we already got so many new (stunning) pieces. It was found at Moss and Spy by Heaven. Do you remember her wearing another Moss and Spy dress? It was on a visit to Seattle in 2018, here. Incredible work.

This time in Texas she embraced the style with wonderful nude leather pumps from Prada. We have often seen her wear these pointed pumps with colorful dresses as on February 28th, when she presented the ElieForsk Awards 2019, here. Nude accessories and bright colored clothes are a match made in heaven. That is also why I love that she wore a nude ostrich clutch from Naledi Copenhagen. As earlier the same day Mary shone with golden bracelets from both Cartier and Dulong Fine Jewelry, who also created that impressive diamond earrings. Her incredible hairstyle is also worth noticing.

Reception

The Crown Princess ended a long first day in Texas by attending a reception at House of Scandinavia.  She arrived like a princess in a Hollywood movie. Walking most elegantly down the stairs at the event in Austin. All attendances enjoyed a reception with lots of cultural performances from among others Denmark. These Danish participants are participating South by Southwest. Crown Princess Mary pared a visit to the festival earlier the same day.

A long finally came to an end and it was time for the Crown Princess to get a long night's sleep

Embed from Getty Images

What Mary wore at the reception at House of Scandinavia reminded me a lot of something Queen Letizia of Spain would wear. She really surprised me with what she was wearing. Keep it simple, yet super elegant and classy. Mary rocked that black and white outfit. Both the black embellished blouse and that crispy white blazer are brand new pieces in her wardrobe. So far I have not been able to find any of them yet. The blazer reminds me of something from Alexander McQueen, but that is guesswork at the moment. Her new embellished blouse got a lot in comment to an old creation from By Malene Birger worn in an interview with Australian Women's Weekly from 2004, here. Don't you think? With the embellishment and fringes?

She caught everybody's attention with a rather large ring, golden bracelets and of course that new calm shell earrings. A good friend of mine recognized them right away as Rebekka Notkin. A Danish  jewellery brand. Think she is wearing a black Carlend Copenhagen clutch and matching pumps from Pura Lopez.

"Gender Diversity's Roundtable Denmark"

Friday, March 8th

A few days prier to her attendance in Copenhagen Crown Princess Mary participated a command course as First Lieutenant at Vordingborg Barracks and earned degree as Captain, here.

On March 8th she arrived to the UN City in Copenhagen to attend 'Gender Diversity's Roundtable Denmark', which is an initiative on equality. 'Gender Diversity's Roundtable Denmark' is established by the Boston Consulting Group and the UN Women's Nordic Office. Members of these two, work every day to promote gender diversity in Denmark through, among others, sharing knowledge and think tanks.

The Crown Princess was in a splendid mood during her participation in the roundtable meeting. She was one happy face. Seems like Crown Princess Mary was in her right element among others who are also passioned about development and improvement on equality.

Sixteen other Danish leaders also took part in the meeting along with the Crown Princess, who attended as guest of honor.

I kinda loved Mary in her green uniform when participating the command course in Vordingborg, but getting to see her in a matching outfit makes my day. I have always had a crush on colour matching outfits and navy blue is one of my favourite colours. Doesn't really get any better. She stunned wearing an old Chloé skirt and a figure hugging, long-sleeved blouse from Ralph Lauren. It was also worn at an event in 2016 at the premiere of 'Concussion', here. Even the tights matched in colour. That is called style in my opinion.

Mary styled her blue look with an old Prada leathers bag in... blue! I never found the right combo of colours. Mary's comes with light blue interior and I can only find it in red, here. Nevertheless, its name is clear.

The suede high boots looks brand new to me. Think they look similar to these worn on March 1st, when Prince Nikolaos held his grand opening of a new photo exhibition in Rundetårn. So far I have not identified them. Else it goes with the necklace. It is a circle pendant studded with bright diamonds from Katerina Pitzner. Mary has it in two different sizes. This is medium sized. Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen is the designer of a few of her diamond rings.

Two days at Vordingborg Barracks

05-06 March

Crown Princess Mary joined the Danish Home Guard back in 2008. Since then she has made a remarkable career and reached to become a First Lieutenant in 2015. Impressive right?

Now it is time to reach even higher. The Crown Princess participated a command course at Vordingborg Barracks with purpose to become captain. Along with 11 other participants Crown Princess Mary participated lessons on management of voluntary, operational considerations and preparation of commands. All the participants also came to work in groups based on the previous teaching. Personally I think it sounds very intersting and from what I see the Crown Princess was also very much engaged in the whole process. Because that is what it is: a process of learning and doing.

Wearing her green uniform, a simple ponytail and glasses she totally rocked as our modern day hero.

The opening of "Celestial Choreography"

01 March

It was a big day for Crown Prince Frederik's cousin Prince Nikolaos of Greece, when his close family arrived to Rundetårn in Copenhagen to attend the opening of "Celestial Choreography".

"Celestial Choreography" is a photo exhibition exhibited from March 2nd to 31st. The exhibition shows "the heavenly choreography" portrayed by Prince Nikolaos himself. He will also talk about his techniques of photography and some thoughts about the motives on March 5th at a gathering called Tower Talk.

Before all this takes place he shared his special moment with friends and family a day ahead. Both Queen Anne-Marie, Princess Benedikte, Princess Alexia, Princess Alexandra and Countess Ingrid attended the grand opening. Also Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary showed their support by attending.

Getting ready to congratulate Prince Nikolaos with yet another photo exhibition Mary had chosen a very chic, but surprising outfit. She embraced the style by wearing a white sweater and a beige midi skirt. Both pieces are brand new. Heaven actually managed to identify Mary's new wool sweater as CO. It turns out that Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway wore the exact same one at a public event in 2018, here. Both women matched it with a midi skirt - and it works. It turns out that her new midi skirt is from Giuliva Heritage Collection. It was identify by Elena.

Those colorful suede boots was first seen when she, unofficially, was spotted at a Birger Christensen fashion show a month ago, here. At that time we didn't get to see much. But on March 1st she showed a little more. Turns out it is high suede boots with a pointed toe in some kind of burgundy color. Heaven suggests Aquazzura as a possible brand for Mary's suede boots and I think she is absolutely right.

Mary also accessorized her outfit with a long necklace from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen, a few bracelets from (among others) Cartier and diamond earrings. I am sure you also noticed that checkered box clutch, right? The clutch has never really been identified. I always had Prada in mind because of the similarity of this and this. I hope for some closeup's to get a better look at her outfit. Tell me: do you like what you see?

The EliteForsk Awards 2019

28 February

We have not seen the Crown Princess much lately. Last time we had the chance was when she attended a memorial concert in honor of Prince Henrik who passed away last year, here. Back then she was accompanied by her husband.

On Thursday, Crown Princess Mary was own her won again when attending the presentation of EliteForsk Awards. It all took place at the Opera House in Copenhagen. Every year since 2007, EliteForsk Awards are handed over to leading researchers in their field with purpose of raising awareness of research in Denmark.

The Crown Princess has attended as guest of honor more than once. This year was no exception. She was warmly welcomed by (among others) Danish Minister of Education and Research, Tommy Ahlers. The two of them later entered the stage and presented five winners of the EliteForsk Award. Tommy Ahlers and Crown Princess Mary also handed over twenty students receiving one of the EliteForsk Travel Grants. Congratulations to all winners.

Mary looked stunning in her bright red Dolce & Gabbana dress. Right? She rock that dress with such perfection. Wish I had one myself. The colours looks beautiful next to her fair skin and dark curly hair. Last time we saw that dress, was when Queen Margrethe celebrated her birthday last year, here. The precious she stunned wearing the same dress at a Christmas reception for collaborators of the Mary Foundation, here.

Arriving to the Opera House in Copenhagen she showed off her good old JOSEPH coat. Love that she wears it as a cape. Very clever way to wear your coat.

She embraced the style with a few simple, but magnificent, accessories. First thing I noticed was her diamond earrings from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen. Mary matched these with an old diamond ring. "Diamonds are a girls best friend" as Monroe would say. Mary shows that beautifully. A friend of mine noticed yet another ring - a golden one with different colored stones. It turns out to be her creation from Maanesten. Also shoes and clutch matched. Both nude; in quality materials. Both pieces have been worn on several previous occasions. The ostrich clutch is Naledi Copenhagen design and the leather pumps are from Prada.
