Private visit to Greenland

April

A few pictures were taken when Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary arrived to Greenland by plain a few days ago for a private visit. Apparently they will soon be back in Denmark again. Among other things the couple are going on a dog sled on the ice cap one of the days. At the arrival both were dressed in warm jackets, Mary in long Moncler, and boots. I hope they enjoy a couple of days together and experience the very best of Greenland.

Break the Silence Charity Ball 2015

Friday, April 24

Unofficially Crown Princess Mary attended the Break the Silence Charity Ball 2015.

According to Frederik et Mary, the Crown Princess attended the Break the Silence Charity Ball 2015 on Friday. Her presents was unofficial and almost unnoticed by anyone. Break the Silence is all about volunteer work which is why a charity event like this is so important. The organization try to prevent violence in families and among couple's. Apparently more than DKK 1.6 millions were gathered to support the project. The jewellery company Hartmann's made a special bracelet shaped as a zipper of gold and silver which was sold that evening to collect more money. This is all about the organizations great work and I'm pleased that we have such organizations in Denmark.

As I mentioned before Mary blended in as everybody else and only very few noticed who she was. Impressive, because she is one of the most photographed women in Denmark. Never the less, a few people recognized her and even got a picture of her. With only very little to work with I identified that she was wearing one of her reused Prada dresses (AW05-06), black pumps and smashing orange earrings from Marianne Dulong. Even the new Carlend Copenhagen clutch matched the earrings! Her hair was a high messy bun which is quite unusual, but I love it. Her entire look reminds me of something she could have worn in 2007/2008. I wish this has been an official event.

Hotel d'Angleterre celebrates 260th anniversary

Saturday, April 25th

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended a gala dinner at Hotel d'Angleterre on occasion of the hotels 260th anniversary.

Princessesblog76.blogspot.com

The hotel is located at Konges Nytorv and is one of four five star hotels in Copenhagen. This year Hotel d'Angleterre celebrated its 260 anniversary. On this occasion many special invited guest were attending a gala dinner and two of them were the Crown Princess couple who attended as guest of honor. The royal couple arrived in a splendid mood with great smiles on their faces. They were welcomed as if they were Hollywood stars about to attend a film premiere. CEO Else Marie Remmen was the one to welcome the couple along with journalists, photographers and even many Danes had shown up to get a glimpse of them and all the other guests. Frederik and Mary were in great company and I am sure they enjoyed the evening at the grand hotel.

As magnificent as the entrance we have Mary in her wonderful new evening from YDE Copenhagen (FW13)! It features layers of tulle, incredible beadwork, the most amazing silhouette and pleats. Every little detail is spot on. Imagine to create a dress like this? -it takes a very skilled designer to create something this beautiful. Had the feeling that maybe Valentino was the designer and was pretty surprised when I found out a Danish Designer made it. Gown, glamorous curls and accessories Mary looked like a real movie star next to her husband, who was dressed in a classy black and white suit! The style of the dress and her hairstyle reminds me of the glamorous 50s with their curled hair and red lips. Which makes me think, why didn't we see any red lipstick? It would have made the look even more beautiful. She embraced the style by wearing diamond earrings featuring amethyst drop shaped pendants, an unidentified clutch and what I believe to be her black satin pumps from Prada. Another detail I hope you noticed is the purple nail polish; a perfect match for the earrings.

The ANZAC Day 2015

Saturday, April 25th

Crown Princess Mary attended the ANZAC day (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) in Kastellet, Copenhagen.

The ANZAC Day stands for 'Australian and New Zealand Army Corps' and each year gather many to honor those who served and died in war or any kind of conflict during World War 1. I am very glad we have a Crown Princess like Mary to attend a ceremony like this. Shows that she cares and are ready to show family and friends one last honor for someone they lost during the war. Our past helps us create our future which is why it is so important to remember what once happened. I think it's important to remember how much our ancestors have helped to create the world we live in today. Therefor we much thank them even though they are not longer with us. One minute for those we lost. The Crown Princess showed her sympathy the same way and by placing a wreath in honor to those who served in the war. On a day like this it is really not that important what she was wearing. You see my identification's below as always. Other than that, my only comment today will be that the Crown Princess looked beautiful in her non-laud outfit.

The Crown Princess Mary obsession #4

This post I have been looking so much forward to. About one or two years ago this wonderful women emailed me and told all about her fascination with the Crown Princess. She even told me a about her hobby: to draw Mary's clothes! Since I saw her first drawings, I have ben impressed my her skills. She is actually the main reason why I had the idea about these obsession-posts in the first place. Welcome Inge and take good care of her.

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Inge and I’m 65 years old and a retired preschool teacher. I have been a royalist since childhood. I have attended King Frederik’s (Queen Margrethe’s father) birthday celebration at Amalienborg several times either with my parent or the school I was working for.”

Because of this early interest in the royal family Inge started collection pictures of Queen Margrethe when she was still just a princess: “During my school years I collected photos of Princess Margrethe. The photos were collected in a scrapbook together with photos of Cliff Richard (singer) and Michael Landon (actor). To this day, I still have these scrapbooks.”

The story goes on and Inge tells that when Frederik was born she found interest in this little new Prince as well: “When Crown Princess Frederik was born, I followed the family and especially his troubled childhood came to be a thing I had specially in mind.” When Mary became a bigger part of the Crown Princes life, Inge comments on the ‘love-of-his-life' by saying: “We were all able to read about his love affair in the magazines. I, myself, had a theory of him being involved with a girl from either the Faroe Islands or perhaps Greenland.” Of course we now all know that there was a specific girl that had his interest, the Australian born Mary Elizabeth Donaldson. “… I was immediately convinced that she was the right girl for him!” Inge says.

image

One thing that caught my attention about Inge and her amazing hobby is: why did this hobby even became a hobby for her? I myself love to be creative and make all kind of things that includes drawings, painting, sawing etc. but why make drawings of the future Queen’s clothes? Well, read what she answered to that question: “At their wedding, I was working on sketches of the wedding dress. These were mean to be cut-out doll’s for the children I was working with. Afterwards I continued designing Mary’s wardrobe for the paper dolls, based on her actually outfits.”

Actually, it’s not only Crown Princess Mary she made clothes for also her husband, now Crown Princess Frederik, was made as a doll: “A male doll was made to work as Crown Princess Frederik’s wardrobe.” The hobby didn’t stop there, because them Prince Christian was born he also became a subject for her work and “…when Princess Isabella was born, the children at the school asked me to do her wardrobe as well.”

image
I’m so impressed by the way she works with the right colours, shapes and details on the dresses!
Due to a long period with stress and depression my creative work was temporarily set aside. When I retired and regained my confidence, I returned to my work with the paper dolls…” Luckily! “My main focus has always been on Mary and her wardrobe. Now I draw for pure pleasure and it’s a great pastime activity!”

imageimage

She even make a kind statement about me and my blog: “Styleofmary and Henriette helped me to collect photos of Mary’s outfit, she has been wearing during me time also away from sketching. Even my less sharp photos from old magazines, she was able to find again”.

I know this from myself, when you start collection royal things, you’ll very quickly get lots of folder, magazines etc. Inge knows what I’m talking about: “I now have three complete folder with evening gown, casual dresses, suits, skirts, pants, jackets, coats, ponchos, fur coats, hats as well as special outfits from for instance Greenland, the Faroe Islands and the military.”

My final question to Inge was: Do you continue your CP Mary hobby? “Whether I’ll continue to draw Mary’s outfits or not, I don’t know yet. For the time being, I truly enjoyed it and find it relaxing. Even the complicated patterns and designs I find a certain joy in and takes it as a challenge. At times, I have entertained the idea of sending several pages filled with dolls and outfits to Princess Isabella on her birthday when she was old enough. she has now reached that age but I’m still in a doubt. after all, I’m still just an enthusiastic amateur.” I really hope you decide to send your wonderful dolls to Princess Isabella. I’m sure she’ll be thrilled to see herself as a paper doll with all her own clothes!

Thanks Inge for being part of Styleofmary with your great work and to give the time to share your story with all of us!

Day of Research 2015

Thursday, April 23rd

As patron, Crown Princess Mary attended the opening of Day of Research 2015 (Forskningens Døgn) and handed over the Research Communication Award

Ufm.dk

For several years the Crown Princess has attended the opening of Day of Research such as she did this year. The event is more a research festival with the vision to raise awareness and interest of the importance of research in our society and daily life. Day of Research gives the opportunity to get closer to what research and science is. The Crown Princess was welcomed with handshakes, smiles and flowers at the arrival. She was given a tour around the festival to see for herself some of the amazing projects people had been working on to this very special moment. She also participated in many of the projects and asked lots of questions to the activities she was shown. It was also as patron of the event that Mary presented the Research Communication Award later that day on occasion of the project which was given to Professor and Dr Lars Østergård for his research in infectious diseases. Congratulations to the professor with this very fine award. During the visit Mary was in a really great mood and seemed to have a wonderful time.

Lately I noticed that many royals around the world wear red and pink. Finally we also get to see Mary wear these girly shades! Let us admit it, she looks great in her new GOAT dress -she even matched the event logo. Kate is the one we need to thanks for helping us identifying Mary's new dress. So far, this is the first time she wear something from that designer, but I don't hope it is going to be the last. She accessorized the new dress with a matching Carlend Copenhagen clutch and jewellery from both Marianne Dulong and Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen. As shoes she had chosen her beige pumps featuring the red sole from Christian Louboutin. Always admired how she manages to match bright colour with rather bold ones. Makes both colours stand more out and looks their very best. I have tried it multiple times myself and it works perfectly. If you haven't already tried it, I think you should. A great little trick. Oh... and take a look at her hair. It is just so beautiful. Love how it makes her face more open.

The Maternity Foundations 10th anniversary

Wednesday, April 22nd

Crown Princess Mary attended as patron the 10th anniversary of the Maternity Foundation.

Princessesblog76.blogspot.com

It was back in 2010 the Crown Princess became patron for the Maternity Foundation. Four years later she received the Bambi Charity Award for her commitment, here, and yesterday she attended the 10th anniversary of the foundation. With the vision "It may not cost life to give life" the Maternity Foundation is working to save mothers and newborn children's lives. For quite some years the Crown Princess has been working hard to improve women and children's health all around the world. I think the anniversary was great arrangement for all to see that what they are doing actually matter. A new app was also lunched at the anniversary called The Safe Delivery App. At the event Mary was in a splendid mood with a huge smile on her face. She was warmly welcomed at the arrival. From first raw the Crown Princess closely listened to speeches given by different representatives. She was also given the chance to try the new safe-deliverly-app herself. For sure this was a great day for all of them.

I am absolutely thrilled about everything about her outfit at the anniversary! She was dressed in a reused black and white floral printed blouse from ZARA and black dress pants. A wonderful combo! Maybe you remember the blouse from the first official of the twins, here? Love how this outfit makes her looks young and fabulous! Mary embrace the chic style by wearing a pair of black pointed pumps which could be from SAND Copenhagen, but I do not have a close-up to tell for sure. After all, she has plenty of similar models and they look very much the same. What I know is that the black clutch is from Carlend Copenhagen and that both earrings and diamond rings are from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen. I am sure you all noticed that huge bracelet on her right arm. To me the style indicate Monies. Their jewellery are very characteristic in both size, shape and design. Especially Queen Maxima of the Netherlands has shown great interest in their jewellery and are often seen wearing Monies designs. I am amazed how well a simple ponytail looks with this outfit. Nothing could do better. I would not hesitate for a second to wear this.

The Mary Foundation work with loneliness

Loneliness has for years been a taboo to talk about in Denmark and probably most other countries in the world. Now Denmark's Radio (DR) has dedicated an entire week to focus on loneliness among Danes. More than 200,000 people lives in isolation in Denmark and it is become an even bigger problem the last few years. As you know, the Mary Foundation has been working to combat and prevent loneliness with among others the project Netwerk made in collaboration with Ventilen and the Mary Foundation. On that occasion the Crown Princess has been interview, here & here. The interview took place on Monday 20th after she had payed a visit to Falkonergårdens Gymnasium. The gymnasium has worked with the Netwek project for some time now and the Crown Princess visited the school to see and hear more about their experiences.

During the interview she expressed the importance of attention to the topic about social isolation and why we need to take care of those surrounding us. Social isolation is a problem that affect both children, young people, adults, elderly -all of us. At one than one occasion she has also expressed how important it is to talk about things; say things out laud. If I were you, I would watch the interview. It's an eye opener.

Not that it really matter when we need to focus on something else, I can tell that the jacket she was wearing is from Balenciaga (SS05), here, first worn in 2006 on a trip to Bornholm, here

The opening of Økodag 2015

Sunday, April 19th

Crown Princess Mary attended the opening of Økodag 2015 (Organic Day) which took place in Bækkenstoft, Kirke Hyllinge. Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine joined their mother at work.

What a pleasant surprise to see that the Crown Princess brought three of her children to join her at the opening of Økodag 2015 in Bækkenstoft. I had no idea she would bring Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, but I love the fact that the children had the chance to join their mother at work. All four of them arrived to Kirke Hyllinge before 12:00 pm local time where she was about to official open by cutting a red ribbon -very royal. The Økodag also celebrated its 25th anniversary. Both the Crown Princess and her children joined several activities, said hallo to the cows and tried to milk a cow. A wonderful sight! All of them seemed to be in a splendid mood, especially the kids seemed to have a great time around the animals. For me it was wonderful just to see Mary with a huge smile on her face, enjoying the day with her kids. I am over the moon with the fact that the Crown Princess was joined by her children at the opening and anniversary celebration.

Choose any colour to symbolize ecology? I am sure many of you would choose green. Well, Mary did. She has chosen to wear a lovely moss green Ralph Lauren (Blue Label collection) blazer first seen when the Crown Prince couple visited Greenland in 2014, here. And of course you clearly remember the trip because all four children joined their parents. Am I right? I was a spectacular trip! Back to her clothes. The Ralph Lauren blazer has also been seen worn by Duchess Catherine of Cambridge, here. Overall, Mary was rather casual dressed at the opening of Økodag in Bækkenstoft. To match the reused blazer, I was so sure she was wearing a new white peplum from Rosemunde Copenhagen but even I am wrong now and then. Because it turns out to be a reused lace peplum worn a few year ago in New York, here, and is from ZARA. And of course, then we have the ankle boots. Both chic and practical. I can't decide whether or not they are her suede boots from Isabel Marrant, here. What's your thoughts about this? I'd love to see more of these everyday outfits.

Congratulations Queen Margrethe!

Thursday, April 16th

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary were present while Queen Margrethe celebrated her 75th birthday along with the Danish people.

Crown Prince Frederik & Crown Princess Mary attending morning celebration at Fredensborg

For many years it has been tradition that the royal family celebrate the Queen on her birthday with a morning ceremony. Here friends and family gather in front of Fredensborg castle and congratulate her with greeting's and sining. And this year is a bit more special that usual, because the Queen celebrate her 75th birthday! On this occasion royal family members are gathered in Copenhagen to celebrate Margrethe and most of them also participated in the morning ritual. Especially Crown Princess Mary and Queen Mathilde of Belgium had a great time. All the Queen's eight grandchildren were gathered with the rest to celebrate the Queen, who was in a really mood. It was a quite windy morning when family and friends arrive to Fredensborg but that did not stop them from celebrating the birthday-girl. All the best wishes to Queen Margrethe on behalf of her 75th birthday. I know the Danes have been looking forward to celebrate her, have you? After the morning ceremony the Queen was driven to Amalienborg castle.

Because of the rather windy weather most guests were dressed in warm jackets and scarves. So was Mary. She was in a warm grey wool poncho with a purple cotton blouse underneath featuring long sleeves. This perfectly matched the slim black trousers and the heeled ankle boots from Gianvito Rossi. Remind me that I need boots just like these. They would do great during both fall and spring. The blouse makes me think of something but I can't tell for sure if we have seen it before. Do you recall having seen it before? Love how casual she was dressed as the rest of the family. Really, Mary can rock any outfit! Simply she accessorized her look with a few diamond rings from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen

Crown Prince Frederik & Crown Princess Mary on the balcony at Amalienborg

After the morning ceremony at 8:30 am. the Queen and her family stepped out on the balcony at Amalienborg castle at 12:00 pm. locale time. They were warmly met by hundreds of Danes who were gathered in front of the castle to congratulate their Queen on her 75th birthday. With Margrethe in the middle; the Crown Prince couple and their children were on her right side and Prince Joachim, Princess Marie and their children on her left side. These big birthdays are always celebrated with a glimpse of the royal family on the balcony at Amalienborg and it's something that can't change. I hope it is a thing Frederik and Mary will keep on doing as next in line to the Danish throne. Three times the Queen stepped out on the middle balcony -first on her own, secondly with the entire family and third with her two sons. I am sure we have never seen such a proud Queen, mother and grandmother before this. She was one big smile, such as the rest of the family.

In the noon, Queen Margrethe and her family entered the balcony's at Amalienborg as traditions says. Since Margrethe was just a little girl she has been during this to feel the love of the Danish people. Crown Prince Frederik and his family to her right and Prince Joachim and his family to her left side. Standing on the balcony, waving to the Danes Mary showed up wearing her midnight blue Oscar de la Renta coat featuring a decorated neckline. A beautiful piece with so many wonderful details I hardly know where to start and end. So, I will leave the commenting to you. She accessories her dreamy coat with grey suede pumps from Gianvito Rossi, a pair of earrings from Hartmann's and diamond rings from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen. Her beauty is not to describe. The hairstyle is a side chignon; one of the most incredible and versatile hairstyles you can do. I have always loved it and I still do. Maybe even more now. Like the rest of the family, Mary was also wearing a medal on the left side of her chest. It is a medal made on occasion of the Queen's 75th birthday. Five years ago, on her 70th birthday, a medal was also made.

Frederik and Mary's two princesses -Isabella and Josephine- were also dressed in lovely blue dresses as their mother. They even wore similar dressed to each other from Pili Carrera. The Crown Prince dazzled in a dark blue suit, while his two sons looked handsome in matching grey suits. A lovely family in blue!

Crown Prince Frederik & Crown Princess Mary on a carriage ride in Copenhagen

Much has been planned for the when the Queen turned 75 years old. She was even celebrated with for a whole day in Aarhus with a concert in the evening, a few weeks ago. After the balcony scene, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary joined the Queen for a carriage ride in Copenhagen. Prince Henrik was suppose to join her but because of illness, he was not the one next to her. Instead the Queen enjoyed the trip along with her oldest son and his wife. All three of them seemed to enjoy every single moment of the ride. Later on the Crown Prince couple and Queen Margrethe visited Copenhagen City Hall. Here the Queen was celebrated with choir, music, speeches and gifts. The three royal members also showed up on the City Hall balcony.

On the carriage ride Mary was wearing the same Oscar de la Renta coat as seen on the balcony earlier in the morning. She embraced the style by wearing a new grey hat identified by the owner of Treasures & Tiaras as Jane Taylor. Actually, the hat has been seen once before, just not on Mary. It was last seen on Zara Philips Tindal in 2014, here. Who wore it better? And what a perfect match to the grey suede Gianvito Rossi pumps! Even gloves and navy blue shawl perfectly matched the rest of her outfit. Also the grey suede Hugo Boss clutch looks just great with everything. I also noticed a bracelet on her right arm, which I did not see when she was on the balcony. To me it looks new. Both Hartmann's earrings and diamond rings from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen have been seen multiple times before, but every time it looks new. I am amazed how she manages to keep everything look new also if we have seen her wear it a million times before. What stunned me most about her outfit, is the fact how well navy blue and grey looks together. Am I right? I cannot wait to try something similar myself. I wonder how much she use her stylist these days?

Crown Prince Frederik & Crown Princess Mary attending dinner at Fredensborg Palce

Around 230 guests were specially invited to dinner at Fredensborg castle to celebrate Queen Margrethe's 75th birthday. 230! I have no idea how to gather all these people, but as Queen I'm sure it was no problem at all. John Donaldson, Mary's father was one of the guests who attended the dinner. The guests arrived to Fredensborg at around 7:00 pm. local time and about one hour later the royal family members arrived as the last ones. Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary even arrived a little late. The dinner was private and pictures were only taken at the arrival. I perfectly understand that such an arrangement is kept private and behind closed doors. Luckily, we got a lot of pictures from the arrival, which also were broadcasted live on Danish television. I was glued to the screen when the Crown Prince couple showed up and what a sight!

I was so sure that Mary would wear her red evening gown from when she was married 11 years ago, so I was very surprised to see her in a brand new silver gown! The most incredible evening gown featuring long puffy sleeves, a brooch detail and cute-outs at front. The silhouette is rather slim and looks just great on her. She really has the body to wear a dress like this, don't you think? The amazing wonder has been found by one of my fantastic readers at Temperley London. A designer I haven't thought about at all. Like earlier today she wore her grey suede Gianvito Rossi pumps, a new silver clutch from J. Furmani and Marianne Dulong jewellery. I love how simple everything is, even her hairstyle. Really girls, it is a ponytail for a gala dinner with 230 guests and Mary's hair is in a ponytail? It just looks absolutely gorgeous. Nail polish and lips matched in the same berry red colour. My three words to describe what I see: polished, fashionable and stylish!

We have already been celebrating the Queen with a gala performance and an entire day in Aarhus, here. But this is not it. This evening over 300 guests, family and friends, were specially invited to a gala dinner at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen to celebrate the Queen. From the Danish royal family Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary, Prince Joachim, Princess Marie, Princess Benedikte, Princess Anne-Marie and former King Konstantin attended. Other royals who attended: King Carl-Gustaf & Queen Silvia (Sweden), King Harald (Norway), King William-Alexander & Queen Máxima (The Netherlands), King Philippe & Queen Mathila (Belgium) which could celebrate his 55th birthday and King Felipe & Queen Letizia (Spain). When all 300 guest -including royals, the Danish Government and friends- had found their seats; Crown Prince Frederik have the opening speech of the evening. First a few sentences in english and the a more personal speech directly to his mother in Danish. Among others, he told that he's very proud of her and think she's a really good Queen, mother and grandmother. It was a really warm and touching speech. The reason why Frederik held it, is because  his father, Prince Henrik, is ill and did not attend the dinner. Hope he will be well soon.

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary arrive in Crown 2 (Krone 2) a few minutes before 8:00 pm. local time. A few minutes later they entered Christiansborg Palace and met photographers and journalists. I have been really excited to see what she would be wearing -maybe the white Birgit Halstein dress or the pink one she wore at the coronation in the Netherlands or... wait she actually wore the pink gown from the coronation!! The dreamy dress made by tailor Birgit Hallstein. A wonderful dress in the most amazing light pink color featuring a lace top attached with sequins. She reminds me of the sleeping beauty (Disney, 1959), Princess Aurora, when she in the end of the movie is dancing with her Prince. So romantic! Her hair was in a very simple curly hairdo with two pieces from the Ruby parure. Earrings and tiara are both parts of the old Ruby parure from Queen Ingrid. The bracelet and ring are made by goldsmiths from Marianne Dulong when the parure was tailored a few years ago. I'm pretty sure her pink pumps are the one from Gianvito Rossi and of course her snake skin clutch from Judith Leiber. The blue ribbon from the Elephant Order brightened next to the colour of the gown is memorable! Mary was not the only one who wore a absolutely stunning gown at the dinner. I found my top 5 of royal dresses from the dinner that I really like.

April 9, 1940

Thursday, April 9th

Crown Princess Mary attended a ceremony to honor those who lost somehow was part of the second world war. The ceremony took place at Søgårdlejeren in Aabenraa.

Jv.dk

The Crown Princess arrived to Søgårdlejeren in Aabenraa in a good mood. All relaxed and comfortable. The reason for her visit is on occasions of the 75th "anniversary" for when Denmark was occupied by Germany during the second world war. It was on April 9th 1940. I think it's remarkable that Mary takes the time to commemorate Denmark's ancestors. We all have ancestors how has experienced the war. The day is an important part of our history and it means a lot to many Danes to remember the day that changed the country also subsequently. It makes me prove to have a Crown Princess who thinks of others. Not many things bring the Danes together but a historical day like this does, such as the Royal family. The day also reminds us all that we live in a more or less peaceful world. The Crown Princess placed a wreath to honor those we lost or got missing during the war.

Mary was, very appropriately, dressed in black and grey accessories. For me it looks like a old reused coat with some kind of embroidered floral pattern -maybe a jacquard pattern. And I was right about the coat; it is a reused. She wore it when she was pregnant with Princess Isabella in 2007, here, and at a reburial of Queen Dagmar later on, here. Thanks to a good friend of mine you get two events with her wearing it. Then the amazing grey hat! I do not know if it was made asymmetric to be on the side of her head, but to me it looks polished. Milliner Susanne Juul might be the creator. It was at the opening of the Parliament in 2009 that Mary wore the exact same coat with the hat, here. I wrongly identified her grey pumps as Gianvito Rossi a few posts ago. Because with a closer look at them I noticed a golden detail around the heel. After a while I came across a model from Rupert Sanderson and it seems like the "golden heel" is something he is known to use. Then there is her patent grey clutch which to me looks like Prada. Then there is the little brooch worn on the coat. This little wonder is from the Danish designer Elise Gug

Crown Prince Frederik & Crown Princess Mary in Aarhus

I start somewhere else today because I've got myself a new computer and I do everything I can to learn how to use it and it is not that easy. Hope you will be a little patient with me the next few weeks. I need some time to get comfortable with it. So, if you see anything that looks strange, please contact me. Thanks. Enough with that. Within a few days our wonderful Queen Margrethe celebrate her 75th birthday! A day the Danes are looking very much forward to. Most of us loves the royal family and find it joyable to celebrate the family members on birthdays etc. Today we got a little something to see what we can look forward to on April 16th. It all started with a carriage ride through Aarhus city, then a dinner at Aarhus city hall and we got a glimpse of the family on the balcony. Queen Margrethe was surrounded, not only by hundreds of Danes, but also her family. Prince Henrik, Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie joined her while being celebrated in Aarhus. A perfect way to celebrate the Queen and of course that is not all. Because she will be celebrate an entire week within a very short time.

With no doubt Mary caught my attention right away in her white pleated dress and silver luxe coat! It goes some years back, like in 2011 when she visited New York, here. Never been able to figure out who designed it. Maybe that problem has been solved now. Because according to a Danish magazine the coat is created by tailer Birgit Hallstein. The same one who designed her burgundy velvet gown worn at New Year's eve. Wauw... and just look at her hairstyle! Simple but beautiful hairdo and with the black little hat, her outfit was just like in the 50s. My guess is that the hat is made by the Danish milliner Susanne Juul. Back to the dress. To find the dress haven't been easy because I was not sure whether or not it was new. It reminded me so much of of this dress, here -think the picture was taken by Steen Brogaard. With help from Heaven we might have found the right dress at Paule Ka. Because she was wearing a coat we barely see the dress, but if you take look at the details around the waistline I'm quite sure the two of them are the same. Thank you so much Heaven to let me know about your findings! It would be the first time, we know of, to see Mary in clothes from Paule Ka. Besides the black hat, she wore a tiny black belt as well, her SAND Copenhagen pumps and her Quidam clutch. Another thing I really like about this outfit are the jewellery. She both wore the blue sapphire brooch and earrings from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen

Coat: Birgit Hallstein
Dress: Paule Ka Crepe Pleat Dress (Pink)
Earrings: Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen Winter Frost Earrings
Clutch: Quidam Grey Calfskin Clutch
Shoes: SAND Copenhagen

It could be from...

Crown Prince Frederik & Crown Princess Mary attending a gala performance in Aarhus

After a long day in Aarhus with a carriage ride, dinner and a balcony scene the royal family were invited as guests of honor to attend a gala performance in the Music Hall, Aarhus. The show was broadcasted live on Danish television. I watch about half of the show and it was just fantastic. The Queen was congratulated countless times by singers, stand-up comedians etc. A wonderful evening and I really think the Queen enjoyed herself in company with (most) her family around her.
Prince Joachim and Princess Marie arrived first along with Prince Nicolai and Prince Felix who also attended the celebration of their grandmother. Secondly, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary arrived on the red carpet joined by their two oldest children -Prince Christian and Princess Isabella. Such a pleasure to see them together. We rarely get to see the children along with their parents, so when we do I'm totally thrilled. They are getting so mature already! Feel like it was yesterday they were born. Sure Frederik and Mary have the same thoughts.

The first word that comes to my mind is: outstanding! Dressed in a reused black velvet Prada (RTW FW04-05) gown, Mary really showed that it is indeed possible to use what you have in your closet more than once. Know many of you absolutely love when she is in reused clothes, including myself. Fascination to see how she create a whole new outfit. The Prada gown has been used so many times and each time it looks different and new. She's a great admiration to me. I also struck me how incredibly stylish and well-dressed she is. I know you never ask a women about her age, even though we all know how old she is (43), Mary manages to use her mature age with all it takes. I'm only half her age and I can't wait to get opportunities to dress like her when I'm about her age. Other than the dress, she also wore a satin clutch and pumps from Prada. But what really caught everybody's attention is that new necklace (and earrings). All blogs, forums, sites, articles etc. are going crazy to comment on her new jewellery. It is still unknown where it's from -if she purchased it or maybe inherited it. Think many of us would like to find out. Some even suggested that it is her wedding tiara. Once and for all I have to say; then it has been under serious alterations. To you how watched the broadcast, I know that they said it was her wedding tiara but this time they have no clue what they are talking about. Mary is not the only one dressed to perfection. Her husband, son and daughter were just as smashing dressed as her!

What I haven't commented on yet is her hairstyle, which is actually what really got me all excited. I do not know why. My eyes were drawn right at to her stunning hairdo. Made everything way better. Therefore I think I'm going to do a #RoyalStyle on this one.

Everything about the Crown Princess' hairstyle is stunning and the best part is that it's incredibly easy to do yourself.

1. Curl you hair. Any size will work. I would say Mary's are about medium size.
2. Take a small section of hair at front -right behind your ears, make a soft twist or two and pin it on the back of your head. Do in both sides.
3. Finish with some hairspray and you're done! The perfect look for everyday and evening. Good luck!
