Opening of the Nordic Psychiatry Summit

Friday, November 6th

Crown Princess Mary attended the opening of the Health- and elderly Ministry's Nordic Psychiatry Summit (Nordisk Psykiatritopmøde) in Nordhavn, Copenhagen.

The background of the Nordic Psychiatry Summit/Nordisk Psykiatritopmøde:
A year ago in 2014, the Icelandic presidency chose to focus on issues on mental health through a conference and different meetings. Afterwards the Danish presidency was ready to continue this effort.  Because all Nordic countries have challenges in improving the mental health of society it is important not to forget taken care of the problems. Mental disorders affect a lot of people and have major implications for both friends, families etc. but as with other diseases it's possible to recover. Read more about it here.

Mary almost just arrived from a two days visit in the Netherlands where she, along with Queen Máxima, participated in the 3rd World Conference of Women's Shelters'. She attend several panel discussions, workshops etc. all to share knowledge and experiences on how to combat violence against girls and women all over the world. Mary attended ad chairman of the Mary Foundation and as patron of the UN Population Fund and the Maternity Worldwide. She was back in Denmark on thursday. Yesterday morning she arrived to Nordhavn, Copenhagen, to participate in the opening of the Nordic Psychiatry Summit (Nordisk Psykiatritopmøde). She arrived, with her lady-in-waiting, in a great mood looking her best despite the really bad weather caring her own umbrella to protect her from being soaking wet because of the rain. Usually someone is caring the umbrella but not this time. The Nordic Psychiatry Summit on Mental Health was an initiative by the Danish presidency who also hosted the summit. Representatives from five nationalities were invited: Danish, Icelandic, Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish. From there researchers, specialists, experts, relatives, politicians, ministers and users were invited to discuss how to improve the conditions for people with mental disorders and get more people to understand what it really means to have a mental disorder. In her speech she payed attention to the fact that having a mental disorder is not working, it is not something to be ashamed of or something you need to hide from others. Even though you can't see a mental disorder it's still there. She made the assembly aware that conversations can help to get more people to understand what these people live with or is bystander to. During her speech everyone in the room were paying attention to what she had to say.

Former Danish Prime Minister Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, health- and elderly Minister Sophie Løhde, social- and Interior Minister Karen Ellemann were all present at the opening sitting in the front row. Poul Nyrup Rasmussen commented on her speech by saying that Mary takes such a topic to a whole new level, she speaks from the heart and make it clear that every single individual are important and no one can be overlooked. That is exactly the message Mary is working with in the Mary Foundation: everyone has the right to belong.

Despite the fact not that many pictures have been published of her from the opening of the Nordic Psychiatry Summit still I think I have an ID. on everything she was wearing. Sounds good, right? As a modern but classic princess, Mary showed that a Crown Princess is also capable of caring her own umbrella with style. I actually think the two of them looked really good together. Classy as always the wonderful Mary wore some old goodies most royalists loved at the time. Because her basic wardrobe, also in general, have a classic element she can wear her clothes over and over again without we even notice that it's actually reused at an event a month before. Not that it's the case but still. We have actually seen three of the items in the same outfit last year at the launch of State of World Population. I'm sure we all have certain piece of clothes or accessories we clearly remember she has worn and this textured striped a-line skirt from Chloé (Pre-AW 2014) is differently one of the things I clearly remember. Because of her figure she can wear such printed skirts, some women would get bigger hips because of the significant pattern. Not Mary, she nailed it once again! At the time she chose a brand new wool/cashmere blend cape featuring leather details on the shoulder, which she also wore at the opening. The cape was found at JOSEPH. I'm a big fan a these capes but because of my hight (I'm not that tall) I'm kinda disappearing under a cape. Unfortunately. Cape and skirt work so well together. I think most women would like to wear this as beautiful as Mary does. Instead of a black turtleneck she wore her white Elise Gug blouse featuring long sleeves and a white pearl as button. To me both the turtleneck and white Gug blouse works very well with the skirt. When do you think she wore it better? 2014 or 2015. Accessorized with a black Carlend Copenhagen clutch and possibly Gianvito Rossi pumps, instead of her SAND Copenhagen. I'm not quite as convinced as Kate who told be about them. What's you opinion? Of course the most amazing white pearl earrings! My guess is that it's a pair of her 'old' pearl earrings which now got a pendant. Take a close look to the picture above and tell me if you see the same. I think I'm in love with them, there are quite big but Mary wear them as princess.
