This visit is something I have been looking forward to for weeks! Since the day I found out that Frederik and Mary were going to Canada. And now the time is up, we do not have to wait any longer. I assume the couple arrived the day before, because their first event at the National War Memorial of Canada was a 9:15 am. local time. Showing their honor to those we lost in war, the couple placed a wreath with their initials on. The ceremony included a moment of pure silence. After a short boat trip on Ottawa river they visited the Canadian Museum of History. Before Mary on her own attended a meeting on skin cancer prevention, the royal couple met with the Canadian Governor and his wife. The atmosphere was incredible. Visiting the Centennial Public School was such an experience to followed. Mary just lighted up like the sun when she was around the children. I couldn't do anything, but smile. During the visit they took plenty of time talking with each and every one. The Crown Princess also read a story for kids; love the pictures!
Can't hide that I always have certain expectations of Mary when they are going on a state visit like this. First day is over and I am differently not disappointed. A magnificent outfit, kinda Jackie Kennedy-like especially because of the black Prada coat. Not new at all, but a piece like this you never get tired of. She once wore it when she was pregnant with the twins, here. Love how the pastel coloured (new, by the way) Hugo Boss dress is the diametrically opposed of the edgy coat. Simply love the idea! Oh... and thanks to all of you who shared the identity of her new floral printed dress with me. It is very much appreciated. Later I learned that the beautiful Queen Letizia has worn the exact same dress, very recently. Another thing that reminded me of J. Kennedy is the hat, a Susanne Juul creation similar to this, here. Very impressive piece. I kinda wanna... explore it. Earrings and bracelet are from Marianne Dulong. We also have a golden bracelet from Shamballa Jewels featuring a pink diamond ball. In the most amazing light grey colour Mary wore a pair of leather gloves, matching Quidam clutch and of course her Gianvito Rossi pumps. If the next couple of days turn out like this, then I'm sure I will pass out more than once, that's for sure! Absolutely lovely how she managed to keep everything classic and fresh at the same time.
