Day 1. Official State visit to Latvia
October 28, 2025
Official welcoming ceremony
King Frederik and Queen Mary have arrived in Riga Latvia. The state visit marks the beginning of the Royal Couple's travels to the three Baltic countries and focuses on the close cooperation between Denmark and Latvia in culture, security and common European values. The visit will last from October 28th to 29th.
Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs welcomed the couple to Riga Castle where the official welcoming ceremony took place. The King and Queen also had the opportunity to meet with the Danish and Latvian delegations.
The couple also visited with Moment of Liberty, the Latvian Occupation Museum and participated a guided tour in Riga's Art Nouveau district.
Mary looked absolutely stunning in her navy blue coat. It was created by talented Danish designer Søren Le Schmidt. Mary first wore the coat at the 80th anniversary of Denmark's liberation in May. Later that month she wore it celebrating her husband's birthday. In Latvia she had chosen to add a Max Mara belt which I kinda like but it makes her look a bit too thin.
The sunning headpiece matched the coat beautifully. Milliner Katrin Cecilia Jacobsen created this incredible piece of headwear. Amazing work.
She accessorized the outfit with exclusive pearl earrings and a matching brooch. Both pieces are part of the Danish Pearl Poiré Parure. The set also comes with another brooch, a necklace and a tiara. The custom-made pearl ring made by Dulong Fine Jewelry was a great addition to the old inherited jewellery.
Her fine leather clutch is a reuse from Quidam. When they arrived in Riga Mary wore polished Prada pumps. Later, she changed to a pair of black Gianvito Rossi boots and a black woolen coat. The paisley scarf is also a reuse.

Evening banquet
President Edgars Rinkēvičs hosted an evening banquet at Riga Castle with King Frederik and Queen Mary as guests of honor. The King gave a speech prior to the dinner being service.
The King was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the Three Stars - Latvia's highest military order. The Queen received the Grand Cross of the Order of the Three Stars. The President was awarded the Order of the Elephant - Denmark's finest order.
Mary first wore the incredible red gown at the New Year's Eve Banquet in January 2018. It is tailored by Søren Le Schmidt. I love when she is wearing bright colors. Looks great with her brown hair and fair skin. Somehow I think she gown looks better with a full up-do. Can't really tell why but I think it suits the gown better. What are your thoughts?
She styled the smashing silk gown with a tiara purchased at an Bruun Rasmussen auction back in 2015. It can be worn both as a tiara and a necklace. The earrings have never been identified but she has worn them numerous times as a set to the tiara.
Her golden bracelet once belonged to Queen Louise. It was her engagement bracelet. I am so sure Mary's huge diamond ring is the same one Queen Margrethe wore on her first official portrait as Queen of Denmark in 1972.
Looks like Mary's pumps are the same colors as her gown. Either in suede or silk. The bordeaux clutch is a reuse from Sergio Rossi.
