7 FACTS IN 7 DAYS

The world has turned upside down within just a few weeks. We all experience it diffidently - some keep calm, some are frustrated and others makes it work for the rest of us. I wish the best for all of you and your loved ones. Together, we will find a solution and work it through.

The situation has also affected the royal family. Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary have arrived home from Verbier and are currently staying (isolated?) at Amalienborg. Yesterday, the court shared pictures of the Crown Prince talking with Red Cross Denmark, who makes an effort in this overwhelming moment of frustration. These pictures, taken by Prince Christian, shows the family is now home safe and sound.

Today, the court announced that both Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik's Foundation, and Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary's Foundation have donated 750,000 DKK to Red Cross Denmark and their work in Denmark right now.

How to run a royal blog with a silent calendar? I have kept my writings low since the family temporarily moved to Verbier and I will continue to do so. Of course I will keep ou updated, but that is pretty much it. Still, we need a little something to cheer up the heavy air surrounding us. For the next 7 days I will share facts relating to the Crown Princess - a new one each day. So, keep an eye on this post, share your fun facts about her, let me know what you knew about and what came as a surprise.

ANTHOLOGY ABOUT VIOLENCE

28th February

Crown Princess Mary did not just come home for nothing. On February 27th she attended the presentation of the EliteForsk Awards 2020 taking place in the Opera, here. A great day with many smiles, happy faces and gratulations to the five winners and 18 students who received a travel grant.

The following day, she participated the launch of a brand new anthology about violence - a collaboration between the Mary Foundation and Live Without Violence. It took place at Frederiksberg in Copenhagen.

Both the Mary Foundation and Live Without Violence (Lev Uden Vold) works to combat and prevent, among others domestic violence, solitude and bullying. Live Without Violence aim to raise awareness and knowledge about the topic and to create more and better help to people who have experience violence. Now the two of them have developed a new anthology for students. the anthology is called "Domestic violence - knowledge for professionals" (Vold i hjemmet - viden for fagfolk).

The Crown Princess was in a splendid mood all day. At the arrival she was warmly welcomed with smiles and handshakes. Several speeches were given during the event, including one from the guest of honor herself. Crown Princess Mary spoke about how important it is to be able to see signs, have the gut to ask for help and solutions, takes knowledge and insight. Also how essential it is for professionals to know what to look for when it comes to domestic violence. The Mary Foundation shared moments from the event on Facebook (see post below).

THE ELITEFORSK AWARDS 2020

27th February

Finally, she is back for a few days again. We are missing her and the rest of the family, right? The reason for Crown Princess Mary being in Denmark these days is to attend the annual presentation of the EliteForsk Awards and travel grants 2020.

The award show goes back to 2007 with purpose to create attention about research in Denmark. EliteForsk Awards are given by the Danish Ministry of Education and Research. This year the presentation took place in the Opera, center of Copenhagen and the Crown Princess was welcomed by Minister of Education and Research, Ane Halsboe-Jørgensen.

It was with a big smile on her face that she entered the stage and gave a speech followed by a presentation of this years five winners: Professor Sine Reker Hadrup, Professor Mads Meier Jæger, Professor Anders Møller, Professor Tobias Richter and Professor Riikka Rinnan. Congratulations to each one of them with the prestigious gratuity it is to win an EliteForsk Award. What a pleasure it must be to be congratulated by the Crown Princess on such an important day of one's life. I wouldn't mind having that experience to tell my grandchildren.

Crown Princess Mary also handed over 18 travel grants from the Ministry of Education and Research to several talented researchers and students of the field.
