Day 3: Official State Visit in Australia

October, 26th

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary is on a official state visit in Australia from 23th to 28th of October to attend some of the celebrations activities in addition to the 40th anniversary of the Sydney Opera House.

Program:
  • 11:30 am. Visiting the Twin Registry at Sydney Children's Hospital and is presented to the place of current research and talking with twins from the register which Crown Princess Mary recently became patron of.
  • 1:15 pm. The Crown Prince couple attended the launch of eSmart Digital License at Margaret Martin Library in Sydney.

Both Frederik and Mary were in a excellent mood when they in the morning visited the Twin Registry at Sydney Children's Hospital. The hospitals children made the royal couple smile from the second they arrived. They were met by two couple of twins handing over large bouquet of flowers, on to each of them; Mary's was pink roses and Frederik got purple flowers. The pictures really made me smile, true happiness! I am sure they had a great time with all the twins, you know our favourite royal couple have a pair at home in Denmark so they know how it is, how attached they can be etc. Maybe they see similarities on the twins behavior? Frederik and Mary were also presented the current research there are on this area and got the opportunity to talk with several couple of twins from the register. Before the couple flew to Australia Mary became patron of The Australian Twins Register and The Danish Twins Register, another reason for them to make the time to visit the Sydney Children's Hospital and members of the Twin Registry. All children were dressed beautifully, most of them in the same or matching clothes, a picture were taken with the royal couple as a special day to remember. I was quite amazed when I took a closer look because the children look so much alike, not just clothes. Take a look and you'll see. Of course this all depends on whether the children are monozygotic or fraternal. Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine are fraternal and that's why they do not look exactly the same as many of these kids do.

In the afternoon, Frederik and Mary attended the launching of the eSmart Digital License at Margaret Martin Library in Sydney. This eSmart Digital License is created by The Alannah and Madeline Foundation which Mary has worked with several times before. And if I'm correct Mary created the Mary Foundation after the principals from The Alannah and Madeline Foundation. It's like the Australian Mary Foundation. eSmart Digital License is invented to improve internet security and preventing bullying online by 10+ children and adolescents. It is created by cyber safety  experts, technologists and teacher to balance between learning and fun. With just as much time as earlier the same day, the couple gave every second to the children at Margaret Martin Library. They watch how the program work and how easily the children manage to learn.

So on the third day Mary shone in yet another design from Collette Dinnigan (Summer/Spring 2013) featuring a wonderful embroidered grape vine print in light blue and creamy white colour. The dress features so many lovely details like around the neck. Beautiful design! The silver lurex cardigan is an old one from Ann Taylor. She has worn it at multiple other occasions with several different dresses, the plain and colourful. I really like both of them, but separated I would prefer. The model you see in the link below is in coral, maybe the silver cardigan and the coral dress would have been a better match? By the way the dress was identified by the great Kate! Her dark brown hair was looses with wavy ends and her make up was done very simple - matching brown eyeshadow and pale pink lips. To this summer-in-Australia-look Mary chose beige accessories from Christian Louboutin and Chanel. Funny thing; the Chanel handbag is really old and was seen worn by her in some of the first photos we got of Mary from when she was on her way to Denmark from an Australian airport. You remember it? Now the bag is back! Earrings and bracelets are the only thing I still need to tell you about. Marianne Dulong is the designer of both earrings and two of the bracelet, and Shamballa Jewels is the other designer when we talk about bracelets. Well not a bad day if you ask me but I really look forward to the next couple of days. Don't you?

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary during the second day in Australia

October 24th was a great day, a great start of their four day visit in Australia. First they met hundreds of Australians waving with lots of both Danish and Australian flags to welcome the couple. It was a warm welcome and by looking at their faces I think they were both overwhelmed with joy to see so many happy people. In the afternoon they stepped by the Government House in Sydney. Yesterday I think was just as great. Late morning the couple attended launching of the exchange program MADE by the Opera House and the opening of Architecture Meets the City. Here Frederik gave a speech to give the opening a 'royal-touch'. Afterwards Mary participated in the opening of a brand new Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen flagship store in Sydney. At the arrival Mary was got a beautiful bouquet of pink flowers that matches her new Ole Lynggaard earrings which I have fallen in love with. The flagship store was opened by Mary cutting a pink ribbon with a large golden scissors standing right next to one of Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen's designers Charlotte Lynggaard. She is the daughter of Ole Lynggaard and she is the main designer today. Because of this event Mary wore several other pieces from Lynggaard's collections like the golden chain bracelet and the snake shaped ring on her finger. In the afternoon Frederik and Mary took the trip to Five Dock Primary School in Sydney to attend the presentation of the Premiers Reading Challenge which is a reading competition focusing on who to get children to find the joy reading books. So sweet how the royal couple keep smiling when they talked to the participant children and the kids were smiling just as much. I really think they all had a great time together. They were present and genuinely interested in giving the children and visitors attention. An experience that will be remembered. Look at them, they look so happy!

Despite the fat that Mary only wore black, she wore it with style! She showed who to wear plain black without it being boring because of the feminine and edgy accessories at the same time. I had some help identifying her new skirt.  What Cown Princess Mary Wore is the one who found it at Danish designer Signe Bøgelund-Jensen, the same who created her dress she wore on their first day. Mary matched it with a simple black sleeveless blouse. A snake skin belt showed her waist beautifully. She is by no doubt my style icon! As I mentioned before her jewellery are from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen. All designed in the spirit of Lynggaard focusing on the material, how to make women feel beautiful with old handwork. The earrings are from their 2013 collection and they are available in the most wonderful blue, green and red colours! The ring on her finger is in the shape of a snake attached with diamonds. Magnificent work done by a skilled hand. The snake theme is a independent collection from Lynggaard himself. Because these jewellery are let us say pretty expensive I think they were a given to Mary as a gift because she attended the opening yesterday go their new flagship store. Otherwise I do not think she would have such expensive jewellery. Two other black accessories, a Carlend Copenhagen clutch and her SAND Copenhagen pumps, completed her outfit to make her look sophisticated and feminine during their second day in Australia.

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary at the Danish Design at the House exhibition

Because the Sydney Opera House celebrate its 40th anniversary and the designer Jørn Utzen, activities are all around in Sydney as Frederik and Mary will visit. In the evening they arrived in a shiny white car, matching Mary's Prada coat, to the Opera House to see the Danish Design at the House exhibition. Glowing like a star on a evening sky Mary got my hear beating uncontrolled in her new peppermint blue dress! I'm really not sure how she manage to dress so beautifully but the combo of the cool accessories and the girly Collette Dinnigan dress is perfect. It is with great pleasure I thanks JAusten for the helping hand to identify her new stunning dress. Collette Dinnigan is a very talented and skilled designer. She knows how to make any woman look and more important feel good wearing her clothes. They both arrived to the Sydney Opera House in a absolutely great mood, laughing and smiling all the time. They took the time to met the people who stood ready with cameras, flowers and greetings. Our Danish couple are really popular. Outside as inside the couple was followed closely by photographers to capture their visit in photos which we really enjoy watching now! Now and then I think they must hate being followed by cameras all the time; day and night, every time a year but then I think the learned to live with it, they really don't think about it anymore or maybe sometimes.

Our gorgeous Crown Princess topped off her evening look with a stunning hairstyle which is quite easy to make such as popular both to the princess and the fashion world. It's called a 'chignon hairdo', you find a million different examples and ideas on Youtube if you are as fascinated by this as I am. I know it's look hard but it does not take that much to make it. So if you like it, I think you should try it! Of course it take some practice but everything do. She only wore a few jewellery; her golden earrings from Marianne Dulong featuring diamonds, the chain bracelet from earlier today from Ole Lynggaard and her I'm Jewel leaves ring. In beige she added a Prada clutch, a rivet belt showing of her waist and not to forget the new amazing Valentino heeled sandals! I lost my breath when I saw she wore the iconic Valentino shoes, I wouldn't mind have a pair on my own. Don't you love them! Well done Mary, I'm so impressed by our look!

Day 1: Official State Visit in Australia

October, 24th

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary are on a official state visit in Australia. It is a four day visit from October 24th to 28th. They were welcomed at the Sydney Opera House as a part of the 40th birthday celebration. The Opera House in Sydney was by Jørn Utzon, a Danish architect.

Hundreds of Australians were gathered in front of the Opera house to get a glimpse of the Crown Prince Couple. Waving with both Danish and Australian flags to welcome the Frederik and of course their Mary. The next four days they both have a program  packeted with activities celebrating 40 years of the Sydney Opera House and the Danish architect who designed it, Jørn Utzon. Among other is the Crown Prince Couple's Prizes 2013 presented for the first time outside Denmark during their visit. Well that is something I really look forward to watch! The reason why it all began in front of the Opera House is because of its 40-years anniversary which the Danish royal couple are patrons of and the main reason why the Crown Prince Couple's Prizes 2013 are awarded in Sydney on October 28th. The attendance was ready with their cameras, cell phones, flowers and gifts. They took plenty of time to meet and chat with the attendances who were thrilled to see the royal couple. Mary was given a bunch of flowers, she almost lost them but as the amazing Crown Princess she is she did her best to keep everything under control. I think she was overwhelmed how many people showed up. In the afternoon they couple paid a courtesy visit by the Governor of New South Wales. The visit took place in the Government House which is a part of Sydney Living Museums that represents 12 of New South Wales' most important museums and historical buildings. They went on a little walk in the garden. From the garden the Sydney Opera House is visible.

In Danish design Mary was ready to set start some amazing days in Australia with her husband. The fantastic blue/green dress is a creation made by Signe Bøgelund-Jensen. We have seen before and after quite some time we see it again. I think the pattern makes her smile, skin and everything glow like a true movie star. The dress also gives her a beautiful but small figure. A modern choice! I love the way her earrings from Marianne Dulong and the dress matched in colour. It is a clever thought. Marianne Dulong is also the designer of the black pearl bracelet on her right wrist which is paired with her golden Shamballa Jewels bracelet featuring pink diamonds. Worn at quite many events lately. Christian Louboutin has designed the beige pumps. For a long time I have been looking for the navy blue clutch she wore at their first day in Australia. After too many hours I still had no clue about the designer. Mary also got it in several other colours. It only have a very few details to use in the search to find it. Sometimes you just have to admit you need to give up and that is what I did. Gave up. One who did not gave up is my best reader of them all Pernille. She manage to identify who made the clutch. Crazy, right? So all the credit goes to her, thanks! The clutch is from a Danish brand called Quidam highly expensive not to mention. A quality brand with stunning bags and clutches.
