Networking Group 'Værket' in Slagelse

Monday, February 1st

Crown Princess Mary attended the networking group Værket in Slagelse, a collaboration between the Mary Foundation and Red Cross.

Red Cross / Røde Kors
The humanitarian organization Røde Kors or Red Cross has been able to help people at any focal points at all times in the history of Denmark from the 1864th. Already in 1859 the Swiss businessman Henry Dunant arrived to north Italy where over 40,000 people had been killed and wounded, he gathered a team of volunteer first-aiders and thus arose the idea of the organization we know today. About the networking group Værket
The new project work, established in 2015, trying to bring people together and strengthen their relationships with others so they can have a strong network. Locally, the Red Cross is ready to share the opportunity. There they meet in groups to strengthen visitation. The groups will help to deal with the loneliness as many experiences. Social isolation and solitude is one of the Mary Foundations and Red Cross focus areas because they both wish to make the problem visible. Read more about the project here.

It was a warm and smiling Mary who arrived to Slagelse yesterday to see for her self who the new project of the Mary Foundation and Red Cross is working in reality. Værket is this new project which is a offer given to those adults who feel social isolate or live with solitude as studies show that more and more Danes do. As president of the Mary Foundation, Mary has made it her life's work to try to make a difference, help those who need help. Both the Mary Foundation and Red Cross have experience with what solitude and social isolation can do to people, especially those who have no one to ask for help. This is here Værket can become a part of their life. Local networking groups provided by Red Cross all over Denmark are not ready to take care of those who need someone to talk with. Where they can learn how to strengthen their relationship with others and which hopefully will make them believe in themselves again. Solitude is exstreamly hard to talk about, no doubt about that, but all indications proves that talking about it makes it easier to handle in the end. Mary has herself experienced transient loneliness when she lost her mother back in the 90's. With her own words, she expressed this period as if she was in a bobble and nobody understood the situation she was dealing with. So she knows how it feels and how important it is to have someone around. Kindly she was greeted when she arrived and having seen for herself what the people are being offered, she quickly  started a conversation with among other CEO of Red Cross Hanna Line Jakobsen and the rest of the group in which she also participated some of the group exercises. The exercises was to great amusement for Mary and the group which otherwise handled the exercises with great thoroughness. Being part of a group makes you both feel responsible to oneself and for the group which is why it's important to participate in each meeting, as Mary so beautiful was worded as an respond to a question. I had the experience that both Mary and the participants of the group had a really good time together and enjoyed each others company. Today the networking groups is available in seven different cities and during the next few month this offer will be available in furthermore 10 local Red Cross departments.

As warm as her smile, Mary was dressed in a cozy beige coat when she arrived to Slagelse to attend a
meeting with the networking Group Værket. Since the beginning of 2016 I think we have seen a very mature and modern dressed Crown Princess. Again I think, with an inspiration of her sister-in-law Princess Marie's style. A classic Scandinavian look, with a splash of colours of course! After having seen the first pictures of her appearance I was sure this new beige coat was a By Malene Birger design. I corresponded with Kate and she confirmed by suspicion. The double breasted coat, very similar to the one Princess Marie wore at the opening of the parliament in 2011, is from By Malene Birger and features black buttons and a rather large collar. To match the new coat, Mary wore a brand new burgundy blouse that has a certain 70's vibe I think because of the A-shape and light material. Unfortunately I haven't been able to identify it yet but the blouse makes a beautiful match with her nail polish in the same colour. It reminds me a lot about the new asymmetric Alexander McQueen skirt she wore To make a good balance between upper and lower body, she chose a pair of trousers with slim legs. She accessorized her outfit with several jewelleries from the Danish goldsmith Ole Lynggaard and, believe it or not, a pair of really old golden earrings from Pureheart. Pureheart does not longer exist but the designer Henriette Zobel created some beautiful designs. Designs also worn by Mary. This time it was a pair of 18k gold earrings. Actually I'm not sure when she wore it the last time because it's so many years ago, so please help me if you can. Unfortunately they are more or less hitter behind her hair. She's also wearing her rose gold Georg Jensen bracelet. In the lovely caramel colour she added her Ralph Lauren bag and grey suede ankle boots from Gianvito Rossi. I don't believe I have forgotten anything but let me know if I did. I really find her outfit inspiring. The way of mixing burgundy blouse and the slim trousers is so pretty. Do you think we will see more of this modern, edgy style in the future? I hope so.
