History: The wedding Tiara

Unfortunately there is not much known history about Crown Princess Mary's wedding tiara. In 2004 when Mary Elizabeth Donaldson and Prince Frederik was getting married in the church of Vor Frue in Copenhagen, Mary received a gift from her mother- and father-in-law, Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik. That gift was a tiara, worn on her wedding day. Past the years it's told that they bought the tiara on an auction and is considered to be from around 1900.

Since she wore it at her wedding as a bride the tiara has come to some changes. Back in 2011, five white South Sea Pearls were added to the tiara such as a series of pearls were added around it. During 2011 and 2012 its appearance changed multiple times.

Another thing to know about the tiara is, that it's actually possible to wear it as a necklace as well. Unfortunately, we have only had to change to see that once on a visit to Australia in 2005.
